My daughters partner is lookin at buyin a sex toys website for quite a decent price, After I wiped the smirk off my face when I saw what was on sale, I checked it out and it seems to be quite a decent little site for the money with a nice domain name.

Obviously this is a very saturated niche, so I thought I'd check out how other warriors would go about driving traffic to it,

I'm starting off by suggesting an associated wordpress blog with a number of articles about specific sex type toys which are all keyword anchored back to his site

Be interesting to see what other people come up with

I have a giveaway on my blog for a sex toy site:
The D.VICE Roadtest | Ask Rachel
(shown only to show you what can be done...)

So maybe he could try something similar with a popular dating/relationships blogger?
Then they get a giveaway and he gets a promo.
these get thousands of hits for the company so it's excellent PR for them

If it's already converting, I'd see if there were ways to bring the conversion rate up a few points. That could double or triple revenue.

I'm not sure if Facebook would allow that type of traffic, but I'd market to women on there via there PPC platform.

Then, I'd focus on long-tail SEO and continue to scale upwards until you were going after keywords like "Sex Toys", etc....

I'd think about using it as a hub for multiple niche blogs, etc., targeting groups who might appreciate the discretion of buying online.

You could offer downloads of role-playing scripts/scenarios with suggestions about suitable props.

Another idea is a riff on the meditation market, by offering guided fantasy audios to be played while indulging. (Think Bolero, Dudley Moore and Bo Derek in 10...)

I sell them on eBay, sex toys are my main source of income aside from my actual job. If your starting off, there are four "starters" - The Bullet, The Plain Vibrator, The Rabbit, and the Realistic Penis. With my source, I buy Rabbits for $1.40 USD in a bulk of 70 and that price includes shipping to the U.S. from China, and then I resell them for $37-$79 after I put it on custom carding and packaging to promote my other items which is only about $0.14 per item, (my carding and packaging comes from St. Louis). It is not uncommon for me to profit $400 a day. I recently started to drive my eBay traffic to my website, next year I hope to start my own dropshipping/affiliate system, and in-home parties promoting my products.

How many are you doing to get custom carding and packing at .14 per item. That is a ridiculously low rate! Also buying them at $1.40 each is pretty darn cheap. You have either a very good source, or your making this up.

Direct from China, no middle men, and I get a 50% discount on shipping from China to the U.S. via EMS. Items are purchased on an online auction/market place not intended for sale to non-Asian customers, so the items are purchased at their economic prices.

Heck, look at the typical vibrator, and look at everything used to make it. They are very inexpensive to actually produce.

I did a website some years ago for a client that was selling sex toys. He was paying £2-3. As far as I know though the named ones like rabbits etc.. have a higher price.

Wow, FaJeeb I'm impressed... looks like I need to do some work on my sourcing, I have a nice website/domain (see my Sig) & main/dropship distributor, but not really enough of a price break to make ebay profitable with them...though would love to, and use like auctionblox to drive customers to my site...

Kim, it is a very tough, saturated market, I wouldn't spend too much on the domain and site though, can be made too look great, its all about the marketing...

and I'd try to do something different/more personal than a anyone else if you/she can...

Tell your "friend" to visit the WF. Every post relating to product reviews advises:

      1 Buy the product
      2 USE the product
3 Tell others what it does, how to use it, how to get the most out of it
4 Make a video showing the stuff from point 3.

As a service (ahem) to your "friend", I am willing to write reviews of the final videos.

      Aren't I helpful?

    PROSTATE HEALTH.

Did you know a prostate-induced orgasm is deeper, stronger, and more intense than ANYTHING you can get from penile stimulation?

And a happy prostate is a healthy prostate, so stick one of our fine products up your arse today.

I look at the sex toy market the same way I look at a death metal audience: if you don't come right out and sell the sheer absurdity of it, you can't sell it.

If the owner would do a weekly podcast or video cast talking about products, sex experts, etc it would give people a reason to tune in.

Focus on one problem/issue per podcast - being a better lover, lasting longer, toys for couples, etc and establish yourself as an expert and also give people a solution to the problem (with the "products").

Most of the traffic generation stuff discussed here in this forum wouldn't be of much help to someone marketing sex toys. Out of necessity, adult site webmasters have to become pros at methods of generating traffic, so I would check out the online forums where they hang out.

I googled 'adult webmaster forums' and came up with this search result: adult webmaster forums.

You might also want to sign up/hang out in the forums of private affiliate networks that offer sex pills, creams, etc.

    Kimmy....lmao.

So I clean up my act....and LEAVE the adult film industry....and the second I do....people like you'se and Steve Wags...jump in. And fill the void I left behind.

Note: For many years Steve Wags was my "go to guy" for hard to find toys and gadgets...the stuff people didn't have the guts to carry. Nuff said.

OK....on the straight and narrow...the industry trade journal.....is AVN (Adult Video News) You can figure out the website.

Tell them you are a "wholesaler" or what ever they require now...and you will get the hard copy of the magazine mailed to you....and if nothing else...great online resource.

From there you'll get access to reliable suppliers for everything.

Tough niche to crack ONLINE cuz competition is friggin' fierce..and the industry players have deep pockets and the best webmasters money/coke/and hot chicks...can buy.

To me the opportunity in adult...is an offline gold version.

Once upon a time nice girls got together and bored each other to death with Tupperware parties.......now they have toy parties....and it's becoming a huge niche....and the model is basically the same.

Difference is..the mark up is massive on toys...if you're buying direct from the manufacturer.

I would use the site as a medium to promote the party plan....and I believe one of the big manufacturers I saw in AVN...actually has a turn key system set up for home party gigs.

Do NOT fall for wholesalers claiming to be manufacturers..cuz they are a dime a dozen...and what they charge wholesale...is my idea of retail. Capiche. Go to the friggin' source.

I had to get out...because the 2257 laws were killing me in terms of the films....and the community standards weren't too friendly to adult either in this part of Florida....wasn't worth the hassle. But damn...lots of fun it was.

    Kim,

Promote it just like any other website, forum signatures would work well as there many adult forums, article marketing (all the directories could do is not approve the article), and then an adult blog with reviews for the different toys that are available, then submit the RSS feeds of the blog posts, make sure and ping when there are new posts, and some video marketing should get some traffic to the site. Maybe a little PPC and some social bookmarking.

For the price that was paid it should turn out to be a profitable site...and that is all that is needed anyway.

I agree video's receive a huge amount of traffic look up some videos on porn-hub for example. I would market online still but your right it is saturated, but sex sells. Maybe try offline marketing to get the ball rolling fliers, word of mouth, business cards, while your concentrating on building up your SEO for your website.

There are tons of options try promoting individual products that are hot sellers. Use Google adwords keyword research tool for starters. There are tons of possibilities just run with it it is still a great niche.

    Good Luck!
