What Mistake(s) Have You Made? I Have Made Few of Them

I have made a lot of mistakes but they have helped me learn so much. I have been in IM for only one year and have learned more in this one year then all my other years together (I am only 19). I was definitely a culprit for "Learning, Learning, Learning but not doing" but I am now very successful after learning from all of these mistakes and finally "doing" a few months ago.

I've made my share but I think the biggest ones are when I'm being lazy and wasting valuable time. I see all mistakes as education rather than failures. Thanks.

Spent too much time on Warrior Forum and not getting work done, ha ha.

Same here, bought WSOs that I didn't take action on.

Got discouraged and gave up on stuff.

Not following through with every step on a method thus making it almost useless.

Buying a $1000 coaching program and losing money on the methods rather than making money on them.

etc. etc.

I have made many mistakes, but very soon I am thinking of starting a warrior forum blog to tell all about my successes to encourage others.

My biggest mistake is being easily distracted from my IM projects and procrastinating on taking the big steps

Because, it keeps remind me about very important thing.

My regular mistake is not producing products that are at a comprehension level of a much wider audience, and lower than my own. I always lose sight of the fact that I am not my customer, and while I might have an extremely high level of comprehension, I tend to deliver far too much information at too fast of a rate.

The number one comment about my seminars, etc... "It's like drinking from a firehose."

The biggest mistake I made was being too much of a generalist. If you're selling shoes, stick to shoes until you get it rolling.

just creating products I think are good, instead of using all of the research I've done to create products others want. I've been creating products for a few years and definitely have NOT broken even yet. I am finally starting to create the products that I should have started in the beginning - I learned a lot though...

I think I have made more mistakes in my life than Thomas Edison did when he invented

Each mistake is getting me one step closer to finding out that I made another mistake.

Seriously folks,just learn from each mistake and then move on to something that may work for you.

I made two identifiable mistakes the first time I took action.

I bought a manual from Chriss Cobb and decided to be an affiliate as I thought it was a very good program ( I was certainly impressed to be honest).

Seeing as I wasn´t fluent at all with adwords and web design I hired a small company to do a couple of things for me, namely a squeeze page, an adwords campaign and a bit of promotion for the website to direct traffic to it.

The first mistake I made was not following the instructions on the manual to the letter. Chriss spoke about how with adwords you are testing things in real time and can and must make your changes quickly. The guy I hired kept telling me to allow a few days or even a week before evaluating results and making changes (as in keywords and ads). because I trusted him to be more knowledgeable than me I followed suit ignoring Chriss's advice of not letting any under performing ad roll for more than 48 hours, even 24 if there was some traffic getting into it. Those days (weeks) I trusted that guy wa smoney down the drain as with lower ctr the ad costs started going up.

I also allowed him to take more time than necessary creating the squeeze page, which shouldn´t have taken as long as it did as i provided the graphics and text and he only had to add the form. He probably had more commitments and persuaded me to allow for adwords to work its magic before I did the squeeze page. Tons of wasted time because I couldn´t put his mind into the frame of following me ( my manuals instructions rather).

Later on I started running the adwords campaign myself. It was bringing in the traffic but conversions were just 1%. problem being I had paid that guy and my campaign in sterling but was converting at dollars wich were pretty much 2 to the pound at the time, so I lost money.

Lessons: Cost control, get your employee to do what you want him to do and not what he thinks is best.

Later on I went into a second adwords campaign for the same course which I managed myself from the start. I was ranking only for Google searches, nothing to do with the content network. My cost per clic was rather reasonable as my ctr was up to 12% in some ads ( about 8% on average) and I was budgeting ok.

Then I decided ( after reading on the interwebs) to allow my ads to show in the content network. Cost per click went up like mad as my CTR tanked big time.

Lesson: If you don´t know how to use a feature, stay away from it until you learn or find a person with a succesful track record of using it.

By biggest mistake by far is wasting alot of time and not being focused. Its so easy to get off track when you work from home.

Spending loads of time on producing various projects in comparison to far too little time spent promoting them. It's something I'm still guilty of, but not to the extent that I used to be.

My first mistake when I started out was not putting enough emphasis on keyword research, I had such high hopes for that site and it flopped because I wasn't getting ANY traffic.

Any newbies reading this take note, make sure you are 100% behind your keyword choice! If you question it at all, look for another one, there's millions out there anyways.

I think the first mistake so far is when I stopped posting here in warrior and prioritized other board.. I learned my lesson.

I think it is fine to call yourself whatever you want, but might be a challenge when you decide to release a product and you have to say by your real name but I go by Og rtc on forums etc... Maybe just use Og something, or Og jr? Or a new pen name.

The biggest mistake I am making now is not doing enough keyword research and also not having a good resource box.

I may also need to brush up on my blogs.

Made lots of mistakes. The only way to win is to fail fast.

Thinking that writing content to pump as much traffic as possible past a nearby banner ad was the way to do affiliate marketing. Now I understand it's far better to write content that IS the advertisement. Placing the product (text & images, no banners) at the end of a pre-sell, or even just a generic lead in, or even just a somewhat related article, is far more effective.

Thinking that buying .info domains instead of .com domains was saving me money, instead of that .com domains would make me money that .info domains wouldn't.

When I started writing sales copy, I focused too much on describing the product, and now focus on describing the benefits.
