It is impossible to make a living with internet marketing!

I am a firm believer of the whole "you are what you think about".

If all you think and talk about is "I've been studying internet marketing for 5 years and still haven't become successful" or "I'm broke...maybe I should buy another product showing me how to make $500 in one night"....you will always be broke and you will be unsuccessful in internet marketing for another 5 years.

I mean think about how many of the members on this forum tend to focus on the negative in their lives....then talk about it on the forums.

I'm sure almost everyone here has read a book or listened to a cd/mp3/tape on "thinking positive" and positive affirmations...but why do so many still struggle?

Is it really only possible for a few of us to really achieve the things we truly dream about?
So many internet marketers seem to be in enslaved by their own insecurities and negative thoughts....

Is there any way to actually change this and break free to become successful?

I know that for me, it has required quite a bit of work and when it happened I had to be ready for the major changes in my life. I was seriously fed up and I was tired of struggling...I really wanted to start on a path to achieve my ultimate dreams and desires...and it happened....

So I know that there is a way.

Taking action every day - really wanting something badly enough that you really believe you can get it - creating an image in your mind of exactly who and where you desire to be -

Here's a way for all the insecure and negative struggling internet marketers on this forum....this is what I did and it has worked for me.

-Take time out of your day to write down everything you really want and dream about having

-Write down in literal words the exact person that you want to work towards becoming

-Get pictures of all the things you want, all the things that inspire you, and all the thing that
motivate you to succeed and surround yourself with them

-Listen to music that puts you in a good mood or that motivates you

-Make notes with positive messages on them and inspirational quotes and put them all around your house...I even put them in my wallet and car

Once you've done this...sit down and draw a time line into the future. Show at the beginning exactly where you are today and who you are today. Then make an end point of about 1 year and who/where you want to be in 1 year. Now in between today and your 1 year mark, make a bunch of points representing maybe weeks, months, or years and write down what you want to accomplish in your life by those points. These will become your mile markers down your path towards success.

This will help you create a definite path towards you success...and give you check points to keep you in line with your dreams.

If you don't have a destination in mind...and a map to get there....how are you going to go anywhere in life?

Hope this helps.

*Cheers*

You are absolutely correct, we all need to change the way we think. Negative will attract negative and positive will attract positive. Try being a little more positive instead of negative. Such as; I will have money in my pocket instead of I'm broke. You are what you think, and should it come out of your mouth, then you become what you say.

    Thanks,

    Rena

This reminds me of the book titled, "Think and Grow Rich". One of my all time favorites and I think everyone should read this book at some point during their life time. (preferably sooner than later)

I too am a firm believer in, "you are what you think about". You have to change your mindset and take action daily.

    Great share!

    Thanks,

I for one absolutely agree. People somehow seek and receive comfort and agreement from others in a crowd like a forum when they think and speak and write negative matters and complain about this and that and how they have been shafted by the big Gurus..

One of the best books anyone can read to help them get rid of this negative mindset attitude is to read CONVERSATION WITH GOD by Neale Donals Walsch. There are 3 books on this subject and you must read all three in sequence. Whether you are a believer or not it's worth a read. There's a lot about abundance in it.

The more you WANT something, the less likely you will ever get it. Never ever say 'I WANT'
Better to say 'I HAVE'... 'I AM' etc. Be grateful for everything.

Say this out loud or in your mind many times during the day.....

So - if you think most people here have read these books and you're saying the same thing the books do - why do you think saying it again is going to make people behave differently?

Most people read those books and feel good that they now have a plan - so good that they get the feeling they were after and don't need to actually do anything about it - and don't.

When it comes down to it, the thing that makes the difference in real results in your life is your action - your habits, how you spend your time.

Reading this stuff and doing it seem to be completely different.

People know what to do already, they're just not doing it.

Wonderful thread and just what the doctor ordered. Two of my favorite books recommended here - Think and Grow Rich, and Neale Donald Walsh CWG series (I had the opportunity to interview him just after they did the movie Indigo -very gracious person). I love the movie CWG for inspiration even more than the book and also Pursuit of Happiness, Field of Dreams. More books:
Ask and it is Given by Abraham-Hicks
Open your Mind to Prosperity by Catherine Ponder
    Wayne Dyer's books

Writing your goals and surrounding yourself with pictures that symbolize what you want like the OP suggested is something that has literally worked miracles for me. I haven't yet applied this to my IM but I need too!

Feeling what you are visualizing as if you know it's coming to you, as if you are so happy, just knowing this happeniing is the key. There seems to be a variety of ways to convince the subconcious to believe. Creative visualization and affirmations are two. Or when you can't believe it, reach for something a bit better than you have that you can believe and go from there (Abraham-Hicks has good stuff on this).

If you have negative beliefs about wealthy people or money, eradicate them - look for the good people do with money or whatever it takes to dispel those beliefs because they will work against you. I learned that from an out of print book - Wealth 101 - free online and has lots of little treasures, like the truth behind the "It's harder for a rich man to get to heaven than a camel to get through the eye of a needle" - The Needle is a doorway within a larger gate, and the camel can get through it but must kneel to do so and its baggage must be removed - wow talk about metaphor..lots of goodies in this book for those with old ideas that need changing).

I agree - it's very easy to get wrapped up in the negative threads.

I should add - I'm trying to rain on the OPs parade and I do see the irony in posting like that in response to a 'you get what you think about' post - however, I've noticed over the years that acting like you've discovered the secret to life and thinking you know all about it are completely unrelated to whether you'll actually do anything.

This thread is the same as a newly thin person going to an overeaters forum and saying "I've worked out how you can be thin - just eat better and exercise more".

They already know it - that's not the problem.

What I got out of the OP is that they don't do what needs done or in an effective manner because they have lacked in confidence and dwell on the negative. This emotional stuff can really weigh a person down. It can effect how they market because it effects how they come across to others, what risks they are willing to take, whether they get inspiring, creative ideas that move them ahead, etc. At least for me this is true and the lack of confidence, the negative thinking etc. slowed me down big time in other careers too till I got more of a handle on it - by doing the type of things OP suggests and things I mentioned. I agree with you and Steve and the others who remind us that action is needed. It's easy to hide in positive thinking books and not do anything. But for some of us, both is needed - a better outlook/confidence and action. This is a great thread. Thanks for reminding us of the "action" part. And in the words of Abraham-Hicks, I'm all for "insprired action." But I wouldn't sit around for days waiting for inspiration either, especially not if you are a procrastinator or a writer with writer's block lol

Also wanted to comment on the title of the thread. Here we are talking about affirmations and positive talk and the thread title comes up with every post with that message - I know it wasn't meant that way but it's funny.

It's all very nice to have a positive attitude. Makes people feel good, just like an inspirational speech or post such as this one, but it doesn't really matter. People can go about in their little positive bubble, but if they don't have a business plan and implement it, they are likely to just feel more positive about their failure.

Internet marketing requires a lot of work. It requires a plan that works and it requires the implementation of that plan. If often requires a lot of trial and error. It requires discipline and the ability to change your plan if it isn't working.

I see many buying up every book they find and flitting from project to project ... sort of like throwing spaghetti on a wall and seeing what sticks. That may work at some point if you actually get something to stick and then replicate it, but it's a hard way to do it.

For some reason, you see so many newbies who don't know the first thing about Internet Marketing wanting to be the next Internet Marketing guru marketing their own Get Rich Quick ebook. Such a waste of time until you really do know what you are doing.

People have skills that they don't capitalize on because their idea of Internet Marketing is pretty much making money without really working. That is rarely the case ... I make money from working on the Internet. I have numerous products that are in sync with my skillset, so the products are high quality and believable. Take advantage of what you are good at rather than pretending to know or be something you are not yet good at.

Andy, maybe for the first time, I have come to realize how wise you really
      are.

That, my friend, is the whole problem in a nutshell.

Most people already know what to do...they just don't do it.

It's like with smoking. People know, at least they should know today, that
smoking is dangerous to their health. Many say they want to quit, but they
don't. And yes, there are options today where they can still get their
nicotine addiction satisfied (smoker saver, etc.) but not get killed by
      cigarette smoke.

      Yet...they keep smoking.

Same thing with running a business. Most people already know what needs
to be done. There are plenty of solid courses out there.

They just don't follow the plan.

This is a problem that is way beyond my skill to solve. I don't know if
these people need a good head shrink or a good ass kicking, but I never
needed anybody to motivate me. I knew what I wanted and I went out
      and did it.

How to get others to do the same...that's something that I'll leave the
      experts.

      Great post Andy.

        Hey, hey. Dead on Steven.

If you really want something, motivation isn't an issue.

The problem with most people is they say that want something but in truth (and sometimes unknowingly) they want something else more. And there's the blockage.

        Nathan

P.S. Edit: I just noticed that I've been a member of the warrior forum longer than Steven W . . . but I have about 13,000 less posts. :-)

Great post. This is the kind of stuff I need to keep reading. The fear of failure kept me researching and researching for far too long. I've always written for other IMer's websites and e-books while dreaming about doing it for myself. Finally, within the last month, I've jumped in and have two Ezine articles popping up on Google Page One with my website not far behind. Stop thinking, start doing is my new mantra! Thanks for this positive thread.

I've found that a lot of people "think" they think positive but they really don't.

Thinking positively takes a lot of work and, for most people, retraining their brain to think differently than they have been taught to their whole lives.

Like Andy and Steve have said - people know what to do, they just don't do it - why? because it takes effort.

Thinking about being successful in IM (Or rich, or thin or have a great boyfriend or whatever) is very differently from thinking positively about any of these things. Most people are too busy coming up with excuses why they aren't successful to focus on thinking about all the positive reasons why they could be successful.

They are actually thinking negatively when they "think" they are thinking positively. And they are simply enforcing all the limiting beliefs that are keeping them from success.

I don't know if that makes sense .... sounds like I have been drinking but I haven't even started yet!!

      Definetly.

I am an example for that. Like:
For a long time I saw all this "Make Millions" and really knew that a lot of Marketers was making a lot of money online. But for a long time I thought it was bull****.. impossible to do I thought.

Until one day.. I putted in my head it had to be possible to do that... and I just did it and the success came.

In the end it's all about getting rid of bad mindsets. If you believe in it.. it's better.

I believe that it all starts with the mind and having the correct mindset for success. There are many who don't focus on conditioning the mind to get their mind in the right condition that will allow them to succeed.

A very powerful technique once can implement to assist them in the conditioning of the mind is called 'inevitability thinking', look it up.

For me, it took me non stop listening to Tony Robbins and non stop surrounding myself daily in everything that is related to my future and eventually (now) my mind has been conditioned so well that whatever I want to achieve is inevitable, it's going to happen regardless of current circumstances.

Thought at the back of my mind at times negativity might appear but it doesn't affect my overall thinking, it just sits there and eventually withers away.
