how to install wordpress on addon domain

Hi everyone. I am trying to install wordpress on an addon domain.

I have a mutliple domain hosting account at hostgator. I moved wordpress via ftp to the addon domain and I started the install, but it is bringing me to this page after I put in all the database names and such.

Already Installed
You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

How do I fix this so I can have wordpress on my new domain name?

check your wp-config.php in the main WP folder and make sure its pointing to the new database you set up. if you have not set up a database for it do so and delete the file then go back to the install file.

    hope this helps

Well, here's how I would do it.

    1. Go to CPanel
    2. Go to Database wizard
    3. Create a new database and user with all privileges
    4. Make a note of your database and user info
    5. Open up wp-config-sample
    6. add your information
    7. rename file to wp-config
    8. upload to a directory(folder) somewhere in your server
    9. install by navigating to that directory on your server
    10. Setup subdomain from CPanel (this will be the directory of the install.)
    11. Setup addon domain and configure to point at subdomain
    Hope that helps.

Are you installing a brand new blog.

If so, you just need to go into your cpanel, to fantastico, then create wordpress blog, you will be prompted to choose where so just select your add-on domain.

The directory where you are installing it needs to be empty. As you have already put something into this domain then delete all the files first from it using your FTP program.

Once you have created the blog through fantastico, then use FTP to transfer the theme to the wp-content folder, then activate it from within wordpress

Doesn't your hosting company offer technical support? If you are not sure what is happening can't you just call them up and ask them for their help in getting it going?

you are having a problem in your cpanel and they should be able to tell you how to fix it.

    Hope this help

With hostgator you should be able to just install using Fantastico. Very simple and just choose the domain you want it installed on and a minute or two and it's done.
