Clickbank - different angle

OK well I've been using SEO for my main business which is not IM at all but after reading so many success stories here I've decided to start a Clickbank account and give it a go. I started last night around 9pm due to Clickbank lagging on my email verification. I decided my best bet for a fast result was not to make an article or website but rather go to the forums of which I've been a part of for many years. I've built up trust on them and found a product that might sell very well there. My only issue is having my trust broken from some of the products available on Clickbank. So far from only one post I've received 6 PM requests for the link about the product. I sent them out this morning and am now showing 2 hops with no conversions yet. So out of the one forum that I've now tried my hands at one post, I see some potential. Now this is a very brief study period as it's only been a few hours since I've been doing this as IM and most of the hours have been sleeping hours lol.

My question to you guys is if I should keep targeting the audience that trusts me and that I've been apart of for years? or market to the general audience through articles and making a blog for the product?
