What is a Good Ratio of Order Form Impressions Per HOP?

I ran a test on a CB product yesterday. The product has a gravity of 250. I ended up getting 295 HOPS, 12 Order form impressions, and 0 sales.

That seems like a low amount of order form impressions for a high gravity product.

Gravity has nothing to do with order form impression ratio at all.

It is a measurement of the number of affiliates who have made sales recently.

It doesn't measure how many hops they had to send to make those sales at all. You can assume that affiliates who don't get a good conversion ratio stop promoting a product. OK. That's a good assumption in general.

But it only affects actual sales if that assumption is true. It is true to a degree. There are also a lot of clueless affiliates though who aren't even tracking. So it can take months before an inadequate conversion rate lowers gravity due to affiliates dropping out of promoting a product..

But, that has absolutely NOTHING at all to do with hop to order form impression rate. Nobody ever makes any money due to order form impressions, only from actual sales.

So a product with a hop to order form impression rate of 10 to 1 and an order form impression to sale rate of 10 to 1 will have exactly the same conversion ratio as a product that produces an order form impression with every single hop, but only sells 1 out of 100 order form impressions.

The conversion rate in both cases is 1%.

People that click the order form button but never buy are 9 times out of ten others that are also marketers. If you are cloaking your links, marketers will sense this and click the order button to check who is actually offering the product. There are a few reasons other marketers will do this, one is to buy using their own affiliate link and the other is to research new avenues of income. So the more your product leans toward other marketers the harder it is to tell.

As far as hops to order impressions go, I belive 1%-1.5% would be good due to the fact that depending on the product that your promoting you should receive a 95% (less if geared toward marketers) order form impression to actual sales rate. None of this is set in stone, just my opinion.

It may also depend on your keywords and your landing page... If they're searching just for research purposes than they may not be ready to buy.

If your not ready to buy and you have no ties to marketing why would you click the buy now button?

Is your product price easy to find? If not this might be the easiest way a person can find that out, and I have done this myself just as a customer. Really don't like those pages where they don't let you know what it is until you hit the order form but there are quite a lot of them.

That is awful conversions, there are many factors though that could affect it.

For one, people buying through there own aff link if the page displays a big affiliate link!

I just launched a new clickbank product and have yet to tweak the salespage and that converts at 4% currently. 4 sales, every hundred! One affiliate stats were:

    176 hops - 11 order form impressions - 6 sales!

Im not sure if thats awesome or average but it looks better than the product you promoted!

Hey GoGetta, is that "cold" sales or are they from your list?

4% is pretty decent. Travis Sago's (The Bum Marketer) sales page for his Get Your Ex Back product is converting at that (4%).

So you are off to a good start there.

    Matt,

They are not from my list, they are from another affiliate, its my product. It may well have been promoted to a list though, as the hops came through all in one day!

So, I suppose cold sales, and if that is the case, I suppose I gotta be really pleased with that!

Here's one stat for you (I believe it's accurate based on my experience as a vendor AND affiliate).

    100 order form impressions .... 80 abandonments, 20 sales.

Only 20 percent of order form impressions result in a sale.
That's why I put together the free video in my sig. It helps capture some of these lost sales.
