Linkedin Marketing -- Why now is the time to Jump on the bandwagon

I've always liked Linkedin as a social marketing platform. It's one of my top ten that I use on a daily basis. One of the biggest advantages as I can target who it's in my network much easier then other traditional social marketing sites.

A few other reasons we like LinkedIn as marketing tool:

  • Various groups to network on
  • Easy to scale up your network
  • LinkedIn answers section -- allows you to get and give advice
  • See and give recommendations

A few disadvantages to LinkedIn:

  • You can't simply blast your network with the click of a mouse
  • Paid version (some people only prefer free)
  • Easy to get your email address (so expect lots of spam)

To further amp our juices (I figured I'd get into the thanksgiving spirit a bit) they decided to recently open their back door to their API code.

What does this mean for you as marketer or entrepreneur? In the next six months, there are going to be many new applications and fun tools that link linkedin to other platforms.

We're confident at Taz Solutions, that this move will further increase the popularity of the site (which boasts over 50M users)

If you're not already active with LinkedIn marketing, now is a great time to start!

It's not the kind of market that the majority of the WF is after.

I do a huge amount of marketing on LinkedIn, and you're even in my network.

But the majority of the WF members are in a bit different kind of marketing business.

LinkedIn has a zero tolerance for affiliate marketing linking as well.

Im on LinkedIn and have been thinking about using it in my overall strategy. But since you said its not the kind of market for a warrior.

What kind of market is it?

I know someone who has been building his list through just linked in alone, he said it is in the MMO niche.. Although he didnt give me much details on how he was attracting subscribers, he did say that he has been turning quite a profit off of this list.

I just figured a site like linkedin what be invaluable to someone who puts it to good use, like to build a list.

And i mean a real list not just some garbage spam list.

Anyway.. i would appretiate your insights.

Yeah, a lot of people who don't know better view open networking lists the same as opt-in lists for their email marketing.

This is unequivocally spam and will get you tossed from both the open networkng programs and from linkedin

The best way to market on linked in is targeted business client lead generation through networking.

It's best suited for "offline" marketers who provide B2B services.

I am sure there are some out of work folks there who might be candidates for MMO, but those are a lot fewer and further between, and there is a significantly lower tolerance for spam activities.

It's more of a professional corporate crowd - not an Amway, used car sales manager crowd.

LinkedIn was the first social network I started with (aside from the old 6degrees.com think in the last .com generation).

I have an extremely large network there and built it over a longer period of time.

People who view LinkedIN as some diamond in the rough for some list building explosion thing, where they jump into an open networking group and start blasting emails to people, will find themselves without an account.

So your saying i should use linkedin more as a personal networking tool. Basically like facebook for the corporate type.

Thanks for that.. you saved me the embarrasment of trying to promote my MMO type ebook.

Now if i were looking for offline clients to do consulting this is the type of place to do so. Right?

Of course not in a spammy way, just raising awareness of the high quality of my work. I noticed it has a reccomended feature which should prove to be excellent in getting testimonials for my offline work.

    Thanks

      Pretty much dead on.

I am sure someone else will come along and tell me how wrong I am, but I can attribute well over a million dollars in consulting from linkedin leads this year alone.

I have had VERY much success with LinkedIn, with Joint Ventures as well as closing some deals with my Network Marketing Company. The average household income on LinkedIn is $109K. That workie for me, since I sell high end products.

Thanks for the info. I've had a LinkedIn membership for a while but never really used it because it seems like many NM's prefer facebook. Anyway, I'll have to take a more serious look at it
