How To Make Your PDF's Text Uncopyable!

I have seen a few ebooks in PDF format where you can't copy and paste the text from that ebook. It suppose this would be really useful if you don't want people to copy parts of your ebook.

Anyone know how to do this? I would like to protect the information in my new ebook a bit better.

I know this is possible, but I don't have a clue on how to do this.

Thanks.

You need to encrypt the file.
    Please check the "Encrypt"
    or "Secure" feature in your
    PDF maker.

In Open Office select File; "Export as PDF"; then "security" and choose your options from there.

I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro...

If you get stuck, PM with your details, level of security (i.e. protect text,
images, printing allowed, etc.) and your desired password & I'll encrypt it for you if you want.

It'll only take a few minutes.

"Uncopyable" is a strong word. There are a lot of programs that can convert a pdf in pngs, in seconds. A good OCR program, like Abbyy, will need another seconds to change the pngs in txt. Sometimes, OCR programs take their work seriously and even preserve the fonts, size and colors.

      Very true.

I don't think I have ever seen a way to make your text truly uncopyable That's because it's text. Worse case scenario I could always shoot an outsource worker an email asking for him to copy it into a word document or somesuch.

Conversion can be made very tough if you use both password protection and text to image conversion of pdf content.

no matter what you do your book will never be uncopyable. The simple fact is if someone really wants your ebook they can just sit there and retype it in a word processor, make a few changes and then republish it as their own and sue you for copywrite infringement on your own work. Unfortunatelly no piece of work is ever safe from being copied and remastered into something else. Look even microsoft windows is crackable as well as some government web sites. My advice is to put a decent password protection on it and move on. Making yourself crazy with protecting it will be a waste of time.

    good luck.

There are 2 ways to protect your pdf files. You can use both or either of them. Both are breakable, but for maximum protection I suggest you to use both.

    1. PDF encryption settings: Disable Copy and Print feature and set a master password on the pdf. In this way pdf file can be opened but no one will not be able to copy or print pages from it.

    2. Convert all pages of pdf from text to images using "Copy Protection" feature.

Both settings are available in this file conversion software.

    1. First open the pdf/doc file you want to protect in pdf format and then select "Universal Converter" from the list of printers and then select pdf format as output format. And the select "Options" button and set master/owner password with copy and print disabled.

    2. and for "Copy Protection" select "copy protection" checkbox below the output formats list for the conversion of text to image format. And now select the "Save" button to start conversion.

Hope it helped. But still the pdf can be copied by an expert in file formats but it will be harder to copy now.

if you need more information on pdf file protection, PM me.
