Did I stumble upon amazing niche keywords?

So, I'm researching niche keywords in order to create adsense sites against.

I've found quite a few but this morning I stumbled across one that is searched (in quotes) 1million times and has 33,300 competing pages.

The urls are also available.

Anyone with adsense site / niche experience - should I snap these up?

Thanks Alexa - that's exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for!

There were three sponsored links at the top like sears but the first true 10 results didn't appear to be large names - but I do have to check the backlinks.

      Thanks again.

In simple terms to me, it simply sounds as though you have found some good words.
After a lot of work, I have found similar ratios - to me that sounds like you have done some good keyword research. It should be easy enough to test.

The easiest thing to do is throw up a site with a keyword rich domain and see what happens.

      Recommended steps

      1. Check the backlinks of the top ten sites listed in google. If number of backlinks is relatively low continue to step 2.

      2. Throw up a wordpress site with a keyword rich domain name and add a few relevant articles.

      3. Do some basic backlinking for the site.

      4. Wait and see what happens.

You should know relatively quickly if it's worth pursuing, and it's only going to cost you for a cheap hosting account and a domain name.

I take it you're using Google's keyword tool? If so, is that for exact match?

I'd also cross check it with Wordtracker's free tool, sometimes one or the other is way out of whack.

Also to get a snapshot of what you're up against TrafficTravis (free version) or Firefox has an add on (SEO Quake I think), that shows the number and type of backlinks.

Hi - yes I am using Googles Tool. The numbers are for phrase or in quotes.
Exact count is: 390 and broad is over 2million

Hi - so I grabbed the free traffictravis - but it's not giving me any counts - for any keyword (even Christmas) so not sure what's up there. I didn't want the $5 version - at least right now just to test these words.

Same goes for wordtracker, it's 'free' but I have to enter my cc info first. I hate that.

Anyways - this is a very common/popular item, so I'm not totally surprised at the counts. Similar keywords have just as high a count.

That said - here's the possible downfall of these keywords. They aren't a great english phrase.

A similar example would be: "books coffee table" - obviously it would be better if it were "coffee table books".

I'm not sure how this will affect my SEO - I have a to-do to post and find out if my article marketing has to have my keyword in the exact order or if I can sprinkle better such as:

      "Books (for the) coffee table"

      Any advice appreciated.

      Thanks!
