Hi

How do you guys name your product?

I don't mean domain name here but name of the actual product like for say Mass Control.

Do you just use your intution and go for product name which most closely ties in with your product OR is there any website out there which can assist in coming up with a great name for the product.

If any website like that exists, kindly share it.

Not sure if there's a website for such thing, even if there was I doubt it would do a good job.

What you should try and do is think about branding from the word go, try and make the name catchy and fun. Keep it short (no more than 2/3 words). Shorter the words the better the name. Don't use words that are difficult to spell, especially if you're going to get a domain name using them. Use words that are flow on the tongue.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks,
    Adam

I think there are crowdsourcing websites for names, logos, designs etc.
You set a price and get a bunch of suggestions from which you can choose...

How did the BlackBerry get its name?

That's an interesting read - if you were not familiar with the story.
(However, from another source I know that the services of firms like that are in the tens of thousands $$$ range...)

Unless you have that kind of PR funds... go with Sean's suggestion

Its down to your creativity. Look at things like alliteration to make it catchy (for example, "SEO Super System"). Also look for an emotional word, or a keyword that everyone will instantly recognise, so they understand what it does.

And consider "authority" words and terms to increase the perceived authority of your product.

Finally, consider word of mouth. Is it a catchy, roll of the tongue, or keyboard term that will make people think "wow what is that all about?"

One way that I have picked names in the past was to relate it to the top movies that are out there, many of the most favourite movies have pretty cool names and they stick in peoples minds.

For example take the name of a cool favourite movie and then work into that title what your product does....

    Hope this helps.

Just one of the ways I generate cool names.
