        Hi pcramblet,

Start Article Marketing as an affiliate.

        Steps by step plan

        1. Market Research

Pick a good performing clickbank product with a gravity of 75 or more, minimum $20/sale payout and a clean sales page.

Choose a product where it solves a problem that the person thinks about a lot and is desperate to get it solved. E.g. Acne, suddenly single etc...

        2. Keyword Research

This is probably the most important part of your business. You need to get this right...

Before you read any further, I want to direct you to one incredible Keyword Research post by Casey Gentles here - How To Ramp Up Your Clickbank Commissions By Doing Proper keyword Research--> Step by Step

This is the strategy I have been using with success, thanks to Casey

While your at it, sign up for his free ebook. You'll be glad you did.

You want to find about 30 keywords. Choose 1 keyword you would like your main review/pre-sell page to rank for in the search engines. The remaining 29, you will rank for with your blog posts and articles, which will link back to your review/pre-sell page.

Be sure to check the top 10 listings in Google for the main keyword you want to rank for. If there are other article site and blogs, your good. You can get to the top 3 listings with backlinking etc. But if the top sites are wikepedia, amazon, ebay and other high page rank sites...you may want to move on to find a new keyword.

You can use Yahoos Site Explorer to investigate your competitors backlinks.

        3. Pre-sell page

I recommend you get yourself a domain name (possible with your keyword in the domain, or a relevant domain name to your niche) and start a wordpress.org blog. You can find a free suitable theme to match your market.

Make your home page a static page, which is your pre-sell page. Here's a video that shows you how to do this -
Have your blog page where your articles will go.

If you can't buy a domain just yet, go set up a blog with blogger.com.

Optimize your home page with your main keyword you would like to rank for.

Post a good solid compelling pre-sell page. Here's what you can do -

        a. A strong headline identifying a problem then offering the main benefit of the product.

        b. A quick summary of the page.

        c. Identify with their problem.

        d. Give them the solution (your offer)

        e. List the benefits of the offer.

        f. A strong call to action.

The above pre-sell structure is the bare bones, but follow a similar structure.

Submit your site to the following search engines:

        Add your URL to Google
        Site Explorer - Submit
        Bing URL Submission

        4. Marketing

Write an article for each of your keywords. Go for whatever you are comfortable with. 1, 3, or 5 articles per day.

Here's a great post about article marketing - Article Marketing 101 - Everything You Need To Know About Article Marketing In One Place!

Submit your articles as blog posts first, linking the call to action at the bottom of the article/blog post to your pre-sell page. Bookmark each blog post for backlinks, with the keyword in the anchor text. Sign up to Onlywire.com, it's a great tool for bookmarking. You can create one username for all your bookmarking accounts.

Don't forget to bookmark your home page also using onlywire.

Ping everything you do. Your blog posts, home page and articles. Use this tool - http://pingomatic.com/

Then post these articles to the following article directories -

        - ezinearticles.com
        - goarticles.com
        - searchwarp.com
        - Buzzle.com

These are the ones I submit to. Feel free to submit to others.

Bookmark these articles and build backlinks, so the articles will rank high in the search engines for that particular keyword.

Want to know why you submit your articles to your own site first? Read this awesome post - Article on site or EZA first ?

The aim is to rank your home page with your main keyword, and your articles/blog posts to the other low competition keywords.

Find 1 main forum regarding the niche, and make a very helpful post or 2 per day, with the signature (anchor text your main keyword) linking back to your pre-sell page.

Make 1 or 2 comments on related sites per day and link back to your pre-sell home page.

        ---

If you can do this consistently and persistently, once 30 articles are submitted to your site and the article directories, sales should start coming in and reaching your goal is within reach. if you have a clickbank product that pays around $33/sale, all you need to do is make 1 sale per day, and you've reached your goal.

Once money starts to come in, you can build an opt-in list, outsource articles, and move onto your next niche.

You can do this, just need hot desire, determination and persistence which I'm sure you have.

        Wish you the best.

        Have a great day

I would suggest you think about what others in your position would be interested in and how to bring that to them in a way that can make you money.

I agree, I am about halfway on the scale and wouldn't even know how to start marketing to some of the older folks out there or know where their likely interests may lie.

Simply do as a mature person for a mature person and you should do great

Just remain focused. I believe the key is to find a great coder/webdesigner that can do whatever you want for a cost effective price. I found a true professional who designed a site for me that went live on August 5th. Guess how many unique hits per day on average? 2,200! I apologize, but due to the rules on the forum I can't give you the link, but trust me. It works. Once he is finished with all of my bells and whistles requests, I will have him work on my voice site. He's amazing and until I found someone who was really professional and who I could trust, I wasn't getting anywhere with making my own sites or having them made.

The site includes an article page, a blog, a forum, a store, google, amazon, and ebay monitization, a contact page, and a news page. The site is generating a good income already. Do your homework, read the warrior forum and see who's making the most valuable posts. Follow them and you will be successful.

    Hi,

Start a membership site in a subject that interests you. Provide fresh content, eBooks and reports on your niche. Charge a low affordable price so you have more members join. Build up to 200+ members. There is your $1k. Send an email to all members each month with valuable information and a nice offer, and you get an extra payday each month.

Market it using the methods offered in this thread.

Whatever you do.... make sure you don't buy into the hype that it's easy and takes no work. Sure you can earn good money, very good money from little work but that's usually after you've built the systems you need.

Just don't buy into hype... read some of the old posts here and put together a 90 day plan on whatever model you choose.

    Good luck.

I noticed this thread because I am of an almost-retired age myself.

As the huge "Baby Boom" is advancing in age, there are going to be more and more "older" people with similar questions: how to develop a second career full time or part time. Looking through this Warrior Forum for ideas is helping a lot.

Thanks to The Winner for all the useful info.

P.S. How do I enter a Thanks, without writing a message? I see "The Following User Says Thank You to xxx For This Useful Post", but I don't see how to enter my user name there. (Sorry for dim question )

Hey. Articles is a great way that you can use to make money. There is a website called Click Bank, which you can be an affiliate for. All you had to do is write articles about a certain topic, and post the link for your product. Example: If you have a product about fitness, write articles about how people can make exercisem, talk about fitness in general. Help the people that see your article and they might click on the link and buy it. Here is an article i wrote for Ezine Articles that might help you.

"Article Marketing is a very powerful way to promote products, services or your own website. Some people already found this small "Gold Mine", but many of them do not know how to take the full potential of an article. With this article you will learn key pieces of information to make a good article. Some article directories such as EzineArticles have 5 important fields that you need to know how to fill them to maximize your articles performance. These fields are: Title, Article Summary, Article Body, Keywords and Resource Box. Below i will show you how important is every single of them.

Title - When someone is browsing, the first thing they see is the title. Your number of views per article depends about 70% of the quality of the title. The other 30% would belong to the keywords, which we will talk below. Now, focusing even more on the title, obviously the first thing they see on the title is, the first word. So it is very important to have a strong first couple words. This will bring your reader attention. I want you to understand how important this is, so below i will give you some examples. Those example will be related to promoting products, since it is the area of expertise, i am more comfortable with, but this also applies to promoting websites, blogs or anything you want.

Let´s suppose you were promoting a product about:

        - Weight Loss: Some appealing titles would be "3 Ways to Loose Weight in 3 Days", "Top 5 Ways to Loose Weight", "How to Loose Weight?", etc.

        - Making Money: Some appealing titles would be "Learn How to Make Money From Home", "21 Ways to Make Money Online", "Top 5 Ways to Make Money", etc.

Just from these examples, you see that words like " 3 Ways to...", "Top 5...", "Learn How to...", etc, are very powerful compelling words that would interest your reader. All these words tell the reader that he will learn something by reading your article.

Article Summary - If you had a good title and grab the attention of the reader, then the article summary will be the second thing they read. This field should be fill only after your wrote your article. Since your article is already written, you know which ones are the strong points of the article. On the summary you should wrote those points. Tell the potential reader why should he click on your article and read it. What would your article help him? These kind of thing will give you a very powerful summary, that people will click to read.

Article Body - Now that you have an appealing tile and article summary, your reader has high expectation about your article. Do not let them down. What was promised on the title and summary should be fulfilled here. Sometimes some politicians make promises that after they realize they can not fulfill. I am sure this has already happened in your country, whatever it is. You do not like that, do you? Same applies here. The other important aspect to cover, is that you should fulfil the propose of the article. An article is written to teach something, help someone, improve quality of life and others. Help people with your article and they will be highly appreciated.

Keywords - Keywords is what people type when searching for something. Having the right keywords can lead you to more views per article. Keywords are very important, despite what some people think. Having the right ones, will allow people to be directed to your article. Recurring to the same product examples as before, if you were promoting a product related to:
-Weight Loss: Good keywords for this topic would be "weight loss", "best weight loss", "best weight loss diet", "best weight loss product", "best weight loss program", etc.
-Making Money: Good keywords for this topic would be "make money online", "best make money online", "work from home", "work from home jobs", "computer work from home", etc.
You can use a service called "Google Keyword Tool", to help finding keywords.

Resource Box - If i were to divide an article it 2 parts i would say that the article is your GIVE and the resource box is your TAKE. Allow me to explain this better. You are reading this because you want improve your article writing skills. Why do you want to do that? Most likely your answer will be to promote help people while promoting something. If you have a good article then you helped people with it. Now the resource box will include a link that you would like to promote. That link will have more information about what you talked on the article. You should have a strong Call To Action on your resource box. Say to the reader what you want them to do. For example, tell them that they will find more information if they click on the link.

Hope this could be useful to you. Until next time. Take care."

I would focus on building a business online. Focus on building one product and selling it online.

For example you say... you want to make $1000/month which is not that hard. Do you want to know why??? Let's make some calculations.

    $1000 / 30 days = $33.33 /day

So to make a thousand bucks you would have to sell one $34 ebook per day or two $17 ebooks per day.

Also not only that.. you could offer some affiliate offer (which would be better to start and test markets).

Invest in traffic.. see how many visits per day you need to sell 1 product per day.. and be happy.

I would recommend finding a mentor! If you want to do this in the shortest amount of time, then you have to eliminate as much guess work as possible and having a mentor can do that.

But as for strategy, try affiliate marketing. Sell other people's products. :p

I'll second George's idea to create a membership site. Pick a niche you're interested in (as long as it's shared by a decent number of people). The reason this is a good idea is the residual nature of the income it generates. It's not passive income since you have to create (or pay to have created) the content you'll be providing your members. But, as long as you take care of your members every month, most of them will stick with you for at least a few months. Many will remain on board for years.

Play with the numbers, but to get to $1000/month with this model, that's really only 50 people paying you $20/month, which is probably about the norm for a decent membership site. You can get 50 members pretty quickly with some article marketing. Related forums will also be major hunting grounds. From doing nothing more than joining forums related to your niche and adding value with every post there, you'll get a steady flow of people joining your membership. The key is to truly add value with your posts, not just a lot of cheerleading and "I agree" nonsense posts. Pick forums that allow signature links. Most will.

To take it a step farther, instead of sending people from your signature link and article link to a sales page for your membership site, get them on your email list first. Give away a mini-report about your niche. This will get a lot more people on your list and also show them that you know what you're talking about. Build a relationship with them, then invite them to join your membership site a bit later. Once you get a steady flow of visitors signing up to your email list, you'll build the membership site more or less on auto-pilot.

This might all take you a couple of months to get to $1000/month, but then it won't stop. As long as your members get great value from you month in and month out, you won't lose that many and meanwhile more and more will join. Ask around here at WF... many Warriors run membership sites that make them several thousand per month... each. It's a great idea!

If you start in IM, which is a BUSINESS, I can only think of this:

If you have a website, you will need as much people coming to it as possible. That is why advertising is important to get going in the right direction.

It is like my good neighbor who told me this:

I want to make money online but I don't want to spend any money.

You know what I told him?

I told him that if he is not willing to spend any money, then he will be wasting his time online trying to make money.

From my own experience, IT TAKES MONEY TO MAKE MONEY ON THE WEB.
