Whats the quickest way to build a list from nothing?

    Uh, doing a little research and taking action on all the information that is out there?

      Thanks for your reply.

      Its the information overload stage at central office here. buy this product, buy that product, set up a lead capture page, rent this list, buy that list, promote this product, promote that product...

      And yes I know its all of those combined,

      On the basis of build a little, spend a little, grow a little, spend more, grow more etc, what the opinion here about the best way to start.

    Bribe them.

    Offer them something free in exchange for their email address.

    That's one way to build a list, but building a relationship with your list is more important.

    You could have a list of 10,000 - who don't know you or trust you.. there's no money in that list.

    You could have a list of 1000 - who do know and trust you.. there's more money in that list than in the 10,000 list.

    Don't buy a list. It's money down the drain, unethical and could lead to a lot of trouble with spam laws.

    Squeeze and sandwich pages to start. Learn to efficiently and inexpensively buy traffic. Give someone your greatest tip in return for an e-mail address. DONE.

    A good method for me has been to use Youtube with a link to the squeeze page, Tweets direct to the squeeze page, facebook.. you get the idea.

    The point is that everything points to your squeeze page, be it articles or videos, any kind of promotion.

    Some might disagree and indeed they would have a point.

    Testing is a major factor and one of the most important things to consider when building a list.

    My own experiments have been:

    1) Giving away free stuff in exchange for email addresses.

    2) Sending visitors straight to the sales page (no squeeze page), then giving only paying customers access to my list.

    I'm actually seeing better results without a squeeze page lately - but! do not take my word for it. Squeeze pages work, they have always worked and there's probably a whole bunch of factors that's giving me better results without a squeeze page at the moment - this could change and probably will, so don't allow my results to influence you. Stick with proven methods for the time being, but do experiment and test different things once you've established your list.

      I'm doing some work with someone proposing exactly that(finding list owners in similar niche), following his step by step method, but his "30 minutes a day - and no longer" exercise is impossible to achieve the required quota(list of potential list owners) in that time.

      TBH I'm not entirely sold on his product either, nowhere near as slick as some of the products I've seen.

        As you can see from these posts, there are a lot of things that you can do to build a list from nothing. Just remember that whatever you decide to do, you will have to do a A LOT OF IT.

    If money is no object, then probably PPC is the fastest way. Just send them to a squeeze page and give something related to the keywords you used in the PPC away for free. Not recommended if you have no PPC experience, but it can certainly be fast.

    Otherwise, hands down the best quality traffic I've ever gotten was from article marketing. Obviously much more labor intensive and slower than PPC, but you could always take the money you'd have spent on PPC and outsource the article writing. Leverage someone else's time and grunt work. You'll build a pretty big list with a steady flow of articles and a strong call to action at the the end with a link to your free report's opt-in page.

    If it's a niche with lots of forums, that's another good way to build a list. Join some of the better known forums in that niche and start participating. Put a link in your signature to your opt-in page. Again, not as fast as PPC or even article marketing, but the quality of the subscribers will be very high.

    use ppc

    and paste conversoin tracking on your thank you page

    identify converting keywords

    and try to do everything you can with those keywords

    -video
    -article
    -search for longtail

      When you say funds for a ppc campaign, are you saying in the order or 2-5000$, 1-2000$, 500+$, (don't even mention <500$) ?

    Give them a free offer for there email address and name..



    And once you build your list of about 200 and up,

    try looking for people to do an ad swap with.. and easily you can double your list at a very good fast pace.

    Trying researching for an ebook that teaches you how to do an 'adSwap.
    And try giving this more than 1 try.

    Produce a quality product to sell. I mean one that is priced $100 plus . Set up a sales page that gives a great over view of the product .

    when you get down to the point of placing payment button code .... don't . Put responder form code instead .

    Looks like you are losing a lot of $100 bills on the surface but if you give away a true quality piece of work on first contact . Something members can really use . You are a lot higher on the relationship scale from step one than a lot of marketers get to in a year .

    One good way is to purchase ezine solo ad. Just write a short ad with your squeeze page link and you should be seeing lots of subs fast.

    Just make sure the ezine is good quality and you should expect good results.

    You get traffic to an opt-in page and make them an offer.

    I will give you this "free thing" in exchange you give me your contact information.

    Then drive targeted traffic to that page.

    Test the current opt-in page against another one to see if the other one would build the list faster.

    Repeat.

    To drive traffic quickly, you either must buy it, get it from JV partners (almost impossible if you are just starting),

    You can get other traffic free through other online marketing methods but usually the above 2 ways are the fastest.
