Multiple hosting accounts for large files?

Here's the deal. I've got a really good webhost and the speed is great, service is fantastic. I'm going to have lots of high quality video on my site whenever it's launched and I'm concerned about bandwidth and server load.

I've got a shared hosting account and it's working beautifully, but I'm thinking of going with two. I was thinking that I could host the main site on one hosting account so browsing it will always give good speed, and having a completely diferent hosting account where I can store all of the video and the large files. Do you think it would be ok and I could get by with just a single one though?

The storage limit is fine, but the bandwidth is capped at 1000GB per month. I can see myself easily topping that in the time to come so this is why I ask.

    Hi Krull

There has been a lot of these types of questions the last couple of days.

Your best bet would be to host your downloadable files at EZS3.com (Amazon S3 service). Then you won't have to worry about bandwidth issues.

This is something I was pondering very recently.

In the end I opted to open an Amazon S3 account. Yes you do have to pay a little but you are getting a high quality and very robust service.

Hopefully if you are delivering lots of video (and therefore paying higher S3 charges) then you are going to be making more money anyway.

I'm using it to host my download files. I have a membership site where members can download content, most of which are large video files.

I had a BIG concern about using Amazon which you really need to be aware of too.

If your amazon URL becomes public knowledge and people begin sharing it. Then not only is your content being stolen but YOU are being billed for the bandwidth!!

I did manage to work around this using the s3.php script which was quite easy really. I even integrated it into my DLGuard membership site too.

Either use your shared account along with a file hosting service like amazons3
    or
Get a big vps plan for everything, with a view to upgrading to a dedicated server when required.

I'd skip the greater VPS and directly head to a dedicated server.
Better performance, people don't peek at your stuff and control everything you do
And 2TB is cheap to start, depending on the location you can get 4TB for an acceptable rate which should do for a while!

18 cents per GB... that's a bit much. A lot of hosting companies offer 1TB worth of transfer per month for under $20, and 1TB of transfer there is $180

For video websites, the speed and bandwidth are very important. But I think it's not necessary for you to use two hosting package. From a long view,a dedicated hosting package would be better for you.But you have to pay about $180 per month.
