Hi,

I'm a new IMer and I have been trying to distinguish the difference betweeen a squeeze page and a landing page. Could anyone clarify this for me?

Thank you,

Melody

A squeeze page is often a landing page, but a landing page does not have to be a squeeze page. Clear as mud, right?

A landing page is simply the page one lands on after clicking a link. It could be someone's home page, an article, a page with a video, whatever.

A squeeze page, might also be called a name capture page or a 'shy yes' page. Alex Mandossian coined the term 'shy yes' if I remember right. The page is designed to do one thing - get the visitor to fill out a form and give you permission to communicate with them. Getting that permission is the first step in turning that visitor from a total stranger to a buying customer.

Mandossian called it a 'shy yes' because it was for people who weren't quite ready to buy, but were willing to hear more. They wouldn't give you their money, but they would give you their email.

For most squeeze pages, the visitor only has two choices - fill in the form and submit it, or hit the back button.

    Does that clear things up?

a squeeze page is a page that asks the visitor for the email address in order to get more information. A landing page is the page on your site that people get to once they click on your article link, PPC ad, etc

a landing page can be anything - review site, blog, opt in page,

a squeeze page is a more specific landing page and will always have an opt in form

A squeeze page is used to request the user submit their (name) & email. Essential for list building.

A landing page could be a squeeze page, or for the benefit of internet marketers it might be a review site with links to affiliate products. This became a necessary tactic when Google stopped direct linking with PPC.

Or it could be a presell for a CPA offer.

A squeeze page is a type of landing page.

In a nutshell, a squeeze page is any type of webpage / blog / that forces someone to opt-in or force a certain action. A landing page is any type of webpage / blog that traffic ends up at.
