I'm lost. Can somebody point me at the right direction? Thanks.

Hi everyone. I'm a newbie in IM and I hope you guys could help me. I know that the information that I need is hidden somewhere in this forum but I hope somebody can point me to the right thread. I would really appreciate it. Also, I apologise in advance because this is going to be very long. I have lots of questions.

To get started, this is my status report. After 1 month of learning about IM by reading free ebooks, articles and posts, I've accomplished the following:
1. I have a Clickbank Account.
2. I have a blogger account.
3. I've researched for keywords using Google Keyword Tool.
4. I've listed some my candidate niches.
5. I've written few articles about my niches. Not really Pulitzer material, but I think majority of the people could understand what I've written.
6. I've decided not to shell out a single $ for IM, mainly because my bank account reads $0 and I really think that if I'm going to spend for something like domain, hosting, etc., it would have to come from my earnings.

Still reading? Well, I now present my dumb, newbie-sounding questions:
1. Can free sites like blogger earn enough money to hopefully pay for domain and hosting in the future?
2. Do I have to signup for other affiliate programs or just continue promoting Clickbank products?
3. How much articles do I have to churn out for my niches?
4. Is it possible to just write everything you know about your niche in 15-20 articles, post it in your blog, and just promote like crazy?
5. Do you really have to own a lot of sites to earn decently?
6. Which article directory should I submit my work?
7. Is IM business sustainable or would it be congested in the future? Or am I already late?

I have so many more questions but I guess I have to stop; you're probably bored. So if you would be so kind to point me the right thread so I could find the answer these questions?

Thank you very much.

Wow that is a lot of questions and concerns! Most of the answers are in the forums, others, well you just need to get out there and try them, as there is no set answer, it is niche/strategy dependent.

If you rely on Blogger itself to start ranking and producing traffic and sales, you might have a long wait. To start an immediate cash flow, you would be better to use the blogger blog as a landing page (with your Clickbank links) and submit articles to the directories for traffic.

The key here is consistency. It is going to take a consistent effort to build a steady income. That means writing everyday and not letting up on the gas until you have a decent quantity of articles out there.

    Quick answers:

    1. Yes, absolutely.

    2. You can survive on Clickbank if you're dedicated and consistent with your work and your IM education. (There's probably some luck involved, as well.) However, I recommend expanding far beyond Clickbank, via Commission Junction, etc.

    3. Articles...? Well, if you're talking about how many at your blog, I'd say at least one a week. At first, two or three a week is probably a good minimum.

    4. If you write 15 - 20 articles and stop, you're going to have to rely on comments at your blog to keep the site looking fresh to the search engines. I don't recommend stopping.

If all you know is enough to fill 15 - 20 articles, pick a different niche in which you're so enthusiastic, you'll continue to add articles (weekly+) as you continue to learn about the subject.

If all you want to write is 15 - 20 articles, search at the Warrior Forum on "Amazon System" and use that report to write a book. Market it, instead.

Then again, if you're hoping to write 15 - 20 articles, period, and earn a living from Clickbank, you're almost certain to be disappointed.

    5. You don't have to own a lot of sites, just one that does very well and keeps doing well. To achieve that, most people have to create several sites, and often many sites.

90% of my income comes from just one of my 30+ websites. (It has over 500 articles written over ten years+.) However, though its income has been pretty good for the past ten years, it was based on a fad/trend. The popularity of that subject has peaked and my income from that site has been decreasing for the past year.

I'm glad that I have other sites, and they have content & longevity (and, therefore, authority) to attract readers to what looks like the next, related, enduring trend. I've kept adding to them in my spare time, so I could switch my focus to them at any point.

I focus on very tiny, vaguely-connected niches that fascinate me, and I work hard to be one of the most reliable authorities in that tiny niche.

    6. Everyone will have a different opinion. I still like EZineArticles.com, but I wouldn't put all of my eggs in any one basket.

    7. It's never too late. Everyone though Yahoo would be king of the search engines, forever, and then Google swept in. This story will repeat itself forever.

Work hard, work effectively, and learn as much as you can as the marketplace evolves. In my opinion, there is no "get rich quick" guarantee in IM. There may be flukes, but -- though some would like to persuade you otherwise -- following their model exactly probably won't achieve identical results.

    I hope that's helpful.

        1. Can free sites like blogger earn enough money to hopefully pay for domain and hosting in the future?
Yes - I have a Blogger blog with about 5 posts that makes $500 a week - I do intend to convert it to Wordpress though as I don't like using free sites.

        2. Do I have to signup for other affiliate programs or just continue promoting Clickbank products?
Many people make a full time income promoting just Clickbank products. Personally I like to diversify and I promote products from lots of different networks, however it might be a good idea to stick with CB until you have some experience.

        3. How much articles do I have to churn out for my niches?
There's no set number of articles - it will differ for every niche. I have 2 articles in some niches - 200 in others. You can judge for yourself once you try it out.

        4. Is it possible to just write everything you know about your niche in 15-20 articles, post it in your blog, and just promote like crazy?
You're better off starting with about 5-10 articles and then regularly add fresh content (maybe 1 article a week).

        5. Do you really have to own a lot of sites to earn decently?
No, but I think for newbies it's easier to make a little money from a number of sites than to make lot of money from a few sites. Don't have too many sites though unless you're willing to outsource their upkeep.

        6. Which article directory should I submit my work?
        Ezinearticles for traffic.
Mass submissions to alot of other directories for backlinks.

        7. Is IM business sustainable or would it be congested in the future? Or am I already late?
You're not late at all, now is a great time to get into IM.

From reading your post I admire the fact that you are willing put effort before earnings. I like your goal of having your earnings provide growth for your business. The only difference between your mind set and my mindset was that I did not want to use free blogging service and drive traffic to someone else's domain name. I regged my first domain with Godaddy and actually used Godaddy's hosting. At the time I spent $6.95 on the domain and something like $4 a month on hosting. Since then I no longer use Godaddy for any domain registrations and their hosting is horrible. Live and learn.

Having your own domain and hosting provides a sense of ownership and motivation. I could not stress enough that most folk place a value on everything and domains are no different. When you use free services you are easily discouraged since your efforts are not panning out. When you have your own site on your own dime, you will have a higher value for it and thus work harder at your goal.

Having multiple sites is simply diversification. The adage don't put all your eggs in 1 basket. Affiliate programs are the same. Signup with other affiliates for at least the reason to learn how they operate. If you are dead serious about this business then I suggest even contacting these affiliates by phone and be honest with them. Do not tell them you can drive x amount of traffic when all you have is blogger site. Tell em you want to take a step forward and really get into the game. Some may not approve you but most will. The reason is that there many fraudulent folk out there and when an affiliate network has the opportunity to work with a legit person they will jump on it. Even it means a low amount of traffic.

Personally I consider myself small time in this business but the one thing to remember is that this business revolves around people and relationships. Though we may stare at a monitor, there is a person on the other side.

WOW guys. I have learned a lot from all of you and I don't know how to thank each and everyone for giving me the extra boost of information. And I really have to mention this: WF is a gold mine!

That's it for now. I have to work my butt off now. All your input, ideas and suggestions will be worthless if I won't act now. Plus, I want to catch up with you guys!

            Again, thanks everyone!

              Hi

I think focus is the main key.
Yes most of what you have listed is probably necessary but start with 1 and then move forward from there.
If you get one of your streams up and running (ie. making some money) then start on another and duplicate.

I have been running from one thing to another for years and it has got me nowhere (much to my wifes discust)

Focus on one thing at a time and get it going.

              Good luck

              Ian
