What do you find to be the best frequency of AR's?

I have a couple of campaigns I'm lining up, and I have 5 products lined up, for each to kick them off. I'm not offering a product in each email for obvious reasons, and have a way to weave them together but wondering what is the best frequency to send.

Is every 4 days for a new message too much?

I can't go based on what I prefer because I have become numb to messages coming on a regular basis.

Once a week?

It is a series on "article marketing" and one on "video marketing" niches. hehe.

Can I be more aggressive because they are IM related?

What is your best experience with frequency?

You may be interested in this survey that Brian McElroy sent to his IM subscribers. It details how often they want to be contacted, etc.

Thank you, and thank you Brian - LOL, I am on his list - a couple of them but unless the headline really catches my eye I have to just browse past most of them.

So according to that my 4-7 days is the best case scenario.

Brian McElroy's survey is a nice resource. But it made me wonder how people would have responded if they could have unpacked "2-4 time per week"...would the majority of them have selected 2, 3 or 4?

To me, 2 emails per week might be acceptable, but 4 would be spam. But if there's no way for me to fine-tune my response because of the way the survey is designed, I would have to choose the "2-4" answer. So I think there's room for testing and fine tuning within that range.

I do think IM audiences are less likely to feel spammed by more frequent emails, though. I let a lot of them slide by rather than unsubscribe....which only tells me that headlines are more important than ever with an IM audience if we want them to be opened.

      Cheers,

Every day except Monday and Thursday.

If you wait too long between emails they will forget about you and unsubscribe or hit the "this is spam" button.

Most autoresponders have no option for more often than daily so that is a moot point.

If your autoresponder does allow for more often than daily than the correct answer is every 20 hours.

And be very careful of surveys. What people say they want and what actually causes them to pull out their wallets are two COMPLETELY different things.

      ???

If someone emailed me every 20 hours I would be off that list in a heartbeat.

Where do you get that number from?

I'm with you, Jill. It would be very off-putting to get emailed more than every couple of days. It's just rude. I mean, we all share 24 hour days, right? Most of us are busy people. When you send your stuff out daily (unless someone specifically signed up to get a daily course or something like that), you're telling your subscribers that they're there just to make you money. Now we're all grown ups here and we know that's really why we build lists. Duh. But you don't need to beat me over the head with it. And, more importantly, if you're jamming me up with daily emails, you go from someone providing possibly useful info to someone giving me more time consuming work to do every day. It's a horrible way to run a business, from a perception standpoint.

I like one email every 3-5 days. I think even every 3 days is pushing it, unless you're giving really valuable info and only working in a sales pitch every now and then.

I'm with you. I'm thinking 5 or 7 day intervals.

And HTH do I avoid Monday and Thursday when it is an AR? The day it goes out is based on when the subscriber signed up.

I'm going to have at least 3 new AR's going with now what looks like at least 15 messages on each - provided I give 2 regular emails and one sales email promoting product.

I'm writing up essentially 45 messages minimum. I have no clue what day of the week Jane Doe is going to sign up or what day her mail will fall on if it is pre done.

There's only one correct answer for you, and this is it:

"Test it on your own list!"

Everything else is "opinion" - and we all know about those,
    right? ;-)

Me, I've experimented with daily, twice daily and once weekly
or less frequent mailings. The one determinant of response
has been if the content is something the audience WANTS!

Another factor most people ignore is that you are NOT the
only person in your subscriber's email inbox - so how often
(or not) YOU email has little to do with how much email your
subscriber is dealing with on a regular basis.

    Hope this helps.

    All success

Like Dr. Mani said. Everyone else just posted an opinion.

    I posted my test results.

If you would be off a list if you received a daily email except for Mondays and Thursdays then you probably aren't much of a buyer. Or you aren't representative of the average buyer.

Otherwise the test results wouldn't show 20 hours being the highest number of sales.

We have to develop our business for the herd, not the individual. And we can't survey the individuals and expect to get accurate information.

You have to test it out on the herd.

Stagger it up ... 4-7 days between e-mails is customary but make it staggered so it's like ...

    Day 1: Welcome
Day 3: Some great tips for you
Day 7: Hey check out this new affiliate product I think you might like it
Day 10: More tips for you (Part 1)
Day 11: More tips for you (Part 2)
Day 17: have you implemented what I told you?

    And so on
