Adding a squeeze page...What about affiliates?

I'm adding a squeeze page to my site. I'm trying to figure out how affiliate links are handled when the squeeze page is up. People will opt-in to the list via my squeeze page, then an e-mail will go out to them, directing them to my landing page. If everyone gets to the landing page from the same link on my e-mail, won't that cut out the affiliate's link?

I assume I'm missing something here. Can someone explain this to me?

Most affiliates understand the need for a squeeze page these days. As long as the cookie is set and you don't include affiliate links in your autoresponder messages, everything works just fine.

For those affiliate who don't understand, give them the option of not showing it for their referrals. It is easy to code for Clickbank since they pass the affiliate ID as the "hop" parameter on the url line.

It is even easier if you are running your own inhouse affiliate program.

It would depend on who and what you are using to track your affiliate sales. I am using nanacast and it will track IP and Cookies so it would have no effect. But from what I am hearing from affiliates, they dont like to direct people to a optin page.

Just create a salespage for affiliates with no optin. Thats what I did. Also dont put an affiliate sign up on that page for affiliates. This way all your affiliates will be happy to send people to you. If you are worried about no getting peoples emails if they dont buy, then just make a free offer or sing up for your free newsletter on that page also or something like that.

I'm using PayDotCom. I had thought about allowing affiliates to link directly to my sales page, and bypass the squeeze page. I suppose adding a newsletter sign-up option on the salespage is a good idea. My original thought was that this will take the visitor away from the pitch, but I guess in the end you get their e-mail to bring them back later.

I think I'm giving away a golden nugget here; but Fu**It..

Yeah, too much of a hassle getting affiliates to trust you by tellin' them to send their hard earned traffic to a squeeze page. Too many of them have been screwed over to trust anything you might have in place; even if you're a master programmer. I think the big boys share the opt-in some kinna way; that's what I'd do...

But, keep it simple. Hold something back... something that pretty much sends your product/service into hyper-drive. Offer it on the 'thank you' page with an opt-in form. They gotta opt-in to get it. Word it krafty and your opt-in rate should be a good 20% higher than if you tried it on the front end.

Some people are trying this with the promise of "updates" and what not; that's weak. You still give the Customer time to 'think', "I've got the software/service.. what do I need updates for??"

If you make what you're holding back sound like an "upgrade" that is "essential" to their "success"; then their 'greed' trigger should be fired off. AND you're only pushing it to "buyers".

    You think from here...

    Peace,

So would I be correct in suggesting that there may be better ways to build a list other than a squeeze page? There are a ton of "added value options" I could think of for my product. I like the idea of getting visitors e-mail addresses by promoting a newsletter or coaching program either on the sales page or thank you page.

I also have a squeeze page as you do. I entered an email and its true the affiliate link is lost. My solution is placing an optin in my landing pages and do not set follow up emails. If I set follow-up emails that will be unfair for my affiliates.

Give your affiliate the option to send traffic to your squeeze page, or to bypass your squeeze page and send traffic to your sales page. Explain in your letter to affiliates how the cookie works, and how it's a good thing when the people they refer sign up for your newsletter, since it improves conversions down the road. Just explain everything. And don't try to force EVERYONE to go through your squeeze page, because this does turn off some affiliates and you will lose potential partners.

Why not just create one sales page and affiliates can link to that with their code. It seems like both sides win, you win with the sale and info when they order, and affiliate wins by getting commission on the sale. This eliminates having to create two pages. To your freedom and success, Joel

As long as you didn't overwrite their affiliate codes. I dont see a problem here. You might want to extend your cookies life a lil bit.
