Why Do You Want to Get Rich? What is the Cost of Success to You?

I see a lot of people here on the Warrior Forum obsessing about success, getting filthy rich, etc.

Of course, you want to make $10k/month to afford a better lifestyle. But what would you really do if you made $30k/month, or maybe even $100k? What would change in your life? Would you sleep differently, eat differently, be a different person?

Knowing how internet marketing works, anybody who is making upwards of $20k/month has to devote his entire energies to his business. If you work 16 hours a day to make $20k/month, when do you really get the time to spend all of that?

In other words, when you obsess so much about money and success, do you lose track of the big picture? You wanted money so that you could spend more time with your loved ones, to do what you truly want to do. Yet, the more money I make online, the more difficult I find to take out the time for a weekend with a loved one, to write, or to even discover new music.

I'm 20, still in college. I work online not to fund an expensive shopping habit, but to have enough in the bank to be able to do what I truly love: write, and travel. But as I spend more and more time making that money, I feel as if I'm walking further and further away from the real reason why I wanted it in the first place...

Thank you for this valuable post. I echo your sentiments, and I replied earlier in this thread to say pretty much the same thing. Life is a balance, and there is a lot of ego and macho prowess here about working all hours to make a fortune, which I have to admit is sometimes catching. However if you don't allow time for fun and enjoyment, you will lose creativity and overall it could be bad for busniess. Also a heart attack because you have not been looking after your body properly, eating properly, exercising will definitely be bad for business. Let alone the psychological impact of spending hours in a confined space in front of a screen, not talking to other people. Like you I have not big material dreams but to work less hours and travel would be great.

I feel your pain, but it doesn't have to be that way. There are tons of successful marketers here on the forum that make six figures without spending 16 hours a day at it. More people make a few hundred or a few thousand a month and spend all their time furiously cranking out articles, posting on blogs, trying to make ppc work, uploading videos manually, etc, but the existence of those that are doing more with less is proof it's possible.

Do Frank Kern and John Reese have more hours in the day than the rest of us? If they make 100 times as much as some of the people that work 60 hours a week getting articles out, etc, the rest of us that aspire to their level of success and freedom should look for what they do that's different, and emulate that. I'm pretty sure they didn't get where they are by writing more articles and surfing more blogs than anyone else.

Jay Abraham teaches the art of deal-making. He says that if you learn to set up lucrative JV deals, you can make millions. Since that's the case, he reasons, never do tasks that someone else is willing to do for $15 an hour, or even $100 an hour, once you get to the point where you can set up 5 or 6 figure deals in a few hours.

He calls it "highest and best use" of your time. It's simple logic-once you have a super high value skill set that not many people have, don't waste any more time on the stuff lots of people can do for less money than you could be earning by concentrating on the most lucrative tasks you're capable of.
