Personally I think that is the best way to learn.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a system that will give a newbie some success (even if it is small) fairly early?

I am talking about getting a sale or 2 within a month of implementing the steps the system says to do.

I definitely agree with Jay. I've already said this on another thread today but I'll say it again. Stick it ONE aspect of Internet Marketing. Whether it be article, videos, CPA...whatever it is stick at it for a month or two. Don't hop from one method to another, it will only distract you and block you on your road to success.

So true..what happens is something catches your eye and you try it out...then something else catches your interest and before you know it you're flicking from one method to another..

Find just one thing that other people have had success with, do it for 1 -2 months and see what kind of results you get..trust me...focus on one thing only...if the results are good..improve on it!

Oh definitely, I learnt the hard way too. I was "THAT" person getting interested in too many things. Worst of all it lasted quite a few months. Lesson learnt for me though. Two must have abilities to succeed in IM is 1) taking action and 2) discipline.

Like I said I'm just talking from experience and want to make sure anyone new to IM doesnt make the same mistake because I know it can be SO overwhelming to begin with.

Like others have said, you can't beat the War Room. You could spend days going through everything. Make sure you check out the first thread on top in the War Room. At first, I never even looked at this section until someone mentioned it.

No such thing as best...can't be.

Why?

Each person is an individual. Each person learns differently. Some learn
very well from just straight facts. Others need examples. Some people need
video or diagrams.

Some people can't handle a training program that is hundreds of pages
long. Others will eat it up.

Some people will learn nothing from article writing instruction for article
marketing because they have no desire to learn how to write. Others
will have it literally turn their lives around.

Some people need a heavy business model oriented program. Others
already know what they want to do and just need to know how to
market it well.

If you're looking for a "do all, be all, end all" program that is going to be
the holy grail that will turn you into a 6 or 7 figure marketer, you will
probably have to wait until the very end of time.

  The way I prefer to think about IM is that you need 3 things to make sales:
  
  1. An Offer (A product or service to sell).
  
  2. Targeted Traffic.
  
  3. A conversion process that convinces people to buy from you.
  
  There's ample information for free on the Warrior Forum about each of those topics.
  
  An example might be:
  
  Offer - Video course on how to play guitar.
  
  Traffic - Submit articles to article directories, optimized for people looking for guitar playing tips and with a link to your site where you review various products that teach how to play guitar.
  
  Conversion Process - A review on your site of the video courses you're promoting, covering pros and cons and designed to pre-sell the reader on purchasing the course (In light of the new FTC guidelines, if you go the review site route, just be sure to have some language on your site that notifies the reader that you'll receive a commission if they purchase from you).
  
  Another example might be:
  
  Offer - A video course of your own that teaches guys how to gain muscle.
  
  Traffic - Post your product on Clickbank and other affiliate networks, recruit affiliates and JV partners to promote the product for you, write and submit articles to article directories, create a blog and optimize it for search engines, arrange to do a teleseminar or webinar with a "guru" in a related niche, where you give away free tips and advice and tie the information into a pitch for your new course, etc.
  
  Conversion Process - Your squeeze page and autoresponder sequence where you follow up with prospects who opt in to your list, your product sales page.
  
  It could even be:
  
  Offer - Your used iPod.
  
  Traffic - List your iPod on Ebay's marketplace.
  
  Conversion process - The ad copy in your Ebay listing.
  
  These are just examples of approaches that work for people. You can see that there is no one method that works the best. There's just different ways of executing those 3 elements.

I will say one thing, allen says explains it further in his ideas thread inside the war room, but never overlook the $7 report business, it does so many things at once! It drives traffic to your site, makes you money AND helps build a list of subscribers...

As the saying goes,"one man's meat is another man's poison".You have to decide this for yourself after trying out a lot of different systems. Do not just start by buying expensive stuff. Buy cheap reports or get free ones and read as much as you can about IM.

It really is a process. However, do not get caught up in the learning without implementing what you are learning.

It sure would be nice if a book or course or program existed to teach you "all about IM" but there's no such thing. We all learned by jumping in and following our noses.

My suggestion would be to start by learning all about Affiliate Marketing and Sales, because it's a huge part of the IM world. Google Rosalind Gardner and her website, NetProfitsToday dot com, she sells a great book on affiliate sales, and her site is one giant information resource on affiliate selling. Same goes for Allan Gardyne and his AssociatePrograms dot com website, pages and pages of good, solid information.

Check out anything written by Jimmy D. Brown, his free reports are extremely good and will expose you to many different aspects of IM, like creating small reports, affiliate sales, product creation, PLR, membership sites and coaching sites, list marketing and more. You won't learn everything you need to know from the free reports, but you'll be able to tell if some of these methods are interesting enought to you to pursue further.

Read and read and read is my advice. Oh yes, give yourself a dollar budget that you can spend, and then spend it wisely and carefully. And also set a date for when you need to stop reading and start doing. Most people never actually do anything, they just keep reading and planning and dreaming.

Why don't you check out The Newbie University - The Newbie U? It's free and run by a fellow Warrior by the name of Bryan Zimmerman. I checked it out in my early days and it's a great way to learn the fundamentals.

There's also this free site Mini Site University - Build Profitable Mini Sites That Generate Money 24/7 on Autopilot. Another great place to learn for free...outside the Warrior Forum.

Before you go nuts on what system and methods to promote, figure out what you want to promote. There are offers you can promote where you make $1 on an email submit, others where you make $50 on a lead form (both of which are CPA or affiliate offers).

You may have your own ebook you want to promote.

There are literally thousands of things to promote.

If you have no idea where to start, get a general book on Internet Marketing. It will introduce terms, concepts, acronyms, etc. The forums are great, but if you know *nothing* about internet marketing, you may be lost. I don't speak Chinese, and if you spoon fed me Chinese phrases one at a time, I'd still have no idea what you're talking about.

There are some really good internet marketing programs out there. Look at the WSO's on the forum. Do some Google searches and see what programs you can find. There are many that sell for $1,000 that were done six months ago and you can pick up on eBay for $50-150 from someone who is finished with it.

Don't be afraid to spend a few bucks on learning. True, you can learn for free but it takes longer and is a lot harder . Even though its "free" isn't your time worth something? I sure hope so.

And buy some WSO's here and there. I've bought a couple already, just for the ideas. Even if I'm not going to go "all in" on the program they pitch, for $7-$27 it may open my eyes to something I hadn't considered before. Definitely worth the price.

I agree with the trial and error but, at the same time at some point you have to stop jumping from system to system and methodically work through one that appears to be reputable and you can usually tell. Then expand on that as you go and before long you will be answering your on question. Hope this helped a little the point being methodically work through one system at a time with hopping around. We tend to load up on literature and programs and get overwhelmed and anxious. Thanks.
