It's an interesting balance of providing information to gain trust, and enticing the reader to believe you still have more to offer them. Your job in the article is to sell the click-through, convince them they need to visit your site... once they're on your site then you're in the "pre-sell" mode. At least, this is how it works for the kind of article marketing I do, I haven't tried CPA yet.

    Hopefully this helps ya!

Basically, you want to refrain from writing a whole sales letter on your "pre-sell" pages, because that's what you're sending the visitor to. They don't want to read a sales letter and then read one again.

The object is to sort of inform the visitor about the problem that exists, and introduce them to the solution (which would be the product you're promoting). Telling a personal story and building trust always helps as well.

If you happen to believe that you can write a better sales page than the one the product owner has already, then you can go ahead and do that. However, it is advisable to just send your visitor to the order page at that point. But, if you were able to do that, you might as well offer your copywriting services to the product owner.

Do a search here on the forum and on Google about pre-selling and you're sure to find more than enough information to answer your questions. Good luck!

My first product (in signature) covers a lot of this and is currently set to launch a couple of days after Christmas

If you are doing CPA offers, I would write an article that gave tips. Let's say "Dating" is the focus of your CPA offer. You would give a few tips that help the reader. For more tips, they can go to your link.

If you get the click, then they will land on your website or blog. Your job is to provide more content, but have your CPA offer above the fold for them to see. If it relates to what they are looking for, they will enter their email or zip.

Totally 2 step, but it works if they feel they are getting value from your article, your site, and thus they trust you. This gives you a higher probability of them filling out your CPA offer.

Give them a taste - a few tips, or if it's a problem, make the pain obvious, but allude to a solution.

Or put another way - don't blatantly sell them on your solution, sell them on their need for a solution...
