Hello forum folks,

I have a question involving tracking. I have setup a domain which is on a redirect to an affiliate product. This write articles to promote it. nothing new I know.

My question is....

I want to track the amount visitors to my site(domain) before it gets redirected to the affiliate. How do I do this.

I normally use analytics which goes in the html code above the body tag, in this situation I don't have an index page to do this.

Thanks ,

Neal.

How are you doing the redirect? Using .htaccess?

I bought the domain through 123-reg and in the control panel I simply added the affiliate links I wanted to redirect to.

Ok, what I'd probably do then is use an URL shortening service.

Set the affiliate URL up as the URL you want to shorten, and put the shortened URL in the 123reg control panel.

Have a look at the link below. It lists which shortening services do tracking. That's what you need to register with.

    Hope that helps

    You could try this:

    1. Set up hosting (cpanel) for the domain.
    2. Redirect it to the affiliate site using the cpanel feature.
    3. Check the awbstats in the cpanel to see your visitor tracking stats.

    Hope it works out

    Thanks for your input guys.

I will be trying the url shortening service first as this is most convenient. If this doesn't work out then hosting will be next thing to try.,

    Thanks again.,

    Neal.
