GetResponse code on Wordpress.com blog?

Hi guys

All ready for Christmas?

I'm a bit confused -- I have a Wordpress.com blog and wanted to insert a GetResponse code. I couldn't make it work so contacted Wordpress, who told me that they don't accept outside coding.

But I've seen mention on here of people inserting the GetResponse code, so I tried to insert it in a 'blank text' widget box.. but that inserted only the text ('Name', 'EMail', 'Submit'), not the boxes to fill in.

Can anyone guide me through whether it is actually possible, and if so how?

Thank you!

Katie

    Hi Katie,

I will be happy to take you through this. Do you want instructions written out, or are you comfortable letting me in inside your admin area so I can do it for you?

I also happen to have a unlimited license on a premium plugin that makes integrating opt-in forms a snap, so if you're interested, I will be happy to install it for you.

    Lemme know

    Cheers,
    Avani

    Hi Avani

I'd really appreciate your help -- if you wouldn't mind guiding me through doing it, that would be great as I could then amend it etc myself in future.

(I can't send you a PM as I have less than 50 posts)

    Thank you!

Are you sure you're not confusing a free Wordpress.com blog with a self-hosted Wordpress blog?

@rosetrees: Ah, good point! /me bangs head

@Katie: Sorry, I didn't realize you were hosted on wordpress.com It's not possible to install a plugin there, you'd be better off with your own wordpress site, for more flexibility and freedom in the long run. I'm not even sure that the widget would work at wordpress.com. Yikes.

My bad, completely missed the wordpress.com angle - yikes :|

Yea, at Wordpress.com you can't really do those kinds of things. You aren't supposed to uses their site for "commercial" purposes and having an Opt-In form would probably get your account deleted anyways.

Transfer to your own hosting/domain and you can do whatever you want.

You could probably put a link to your opt-in address though. That could slip by.
