I am thinking about creating a blog for a specific sport.
This blog will have the latest news about this sport.
My question is, can I copy content from other websites,
when I say copy I dont mean to just copy and past their content on my page,
but actually re-type it in my own words.
I just wanted to know if this is legal before I get in any kind of copyright trouble.
Also what about pictures?
This major news papers websites have a picture with every single news, can that be copied?

    Pictures: you must give credit

Re-typing your own words and you won't have much originality so you won't have great content.

    That blog will not last.

    Just my 2 cents.

What makes you think that you can compete with ESPN and all the big sports news? If all you are doing is paraphrasing, then you don't stand a chance.

There is nothing wrong with reporting the same news but if you want people to come to your blog over one of the big names, you need to give them something they aren't getting at the other site. In other words, you need to have your unique commentary in there, as well as the news bits.

        From Wikipedia:
Plagiarism, as defined in the 1995 Random House Compact Unabridged Dictionary, is the "use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work."
Sounds kind of like what you have planned. I wouldn't suggest it.

I have to disagree... When I read this papers they all have the same news just the wording is a little different and nobody gives anybody credit for the content... Most of this news Ill be translating from portuguese and english to spanish... I will give credit for the photograps.
