Alright I Failed, Now what?

I shouldnt be so negative. I just did my first product launch (see sig), and i was expecting 200K visitors, well some people didnt keep their word and they didnt mail out as promised (yet) so i ended up sending 55K emails out and out of that i had approx 3K visitors and out of that i got 53 sales or so or 2491$ sales

I only make 25% out of that , other than the sales i got from PPC.

Any way, So now i am deciding what to do. here are some thoughts that i had, let me know what you think

1) Relaunch in Feb, Find more affiliates, Improve sales page, test and make it better

or

2) create a different product - my current product is all other peoples products (repackaged) so i dont have a product of my own yet.

or

3) tackel a different niche market other than health and fitness.

I also need to start building a relationship with my list, havent sent them any thing yet.

You made over 500 sales(assuming your product is the $5 one in your sig)?

That's pretty good IMO, especially with 3k visitors thats like a 16% conversion rate.

Hey, to me. it's success! At least you tried! Me? Been in WF for so long and i didn't even do a single product launch at all!

For me this is already a success, seriously! Don't feel discourage. keep doing what's right and avoid the wrong one. As time goes by, you will be a successful IM.

Cheer mate! Keep going and learning, one day you will be the 'guru' states not very long - because you take action!

Improve your sales page first. 0.017 % conversion rate. That's bad. You should be looking at 2-4 %. Maybe those visitors weren't targeted ?

I wouldn't consider this a failure, more like a disappointment. Test and refine.

Improve the quality of the list, improve the emails you send out promoting this product, improve the sales page people land on, improve the sales process, improve the actual product.

I'm sure there's something you could be doing better so do that.

Have you tried testing out different prices for your product? If you can improve or at least maintain your conversion rate while increasing the price of your product to maybe $9.95 you could possibly double your profits with that simple tweak.

A lot of people would consider making that kind of money a success. So it wasn't what you expected. My first product got no sales at all for its first two months. I considered that a horrible failure. I'd have considered it a phenomenal success to get 53 sales.

Hey man, don't be let down by that.

You have already tried and successfully did something that a lot of people won't even do. YOU TOOK ACTION.

So just take in what went right, what went wrong, and see what you can improve.

I'm sure that you next launch, whatever way you decide to do it (whether it be same product or new product) will be better than this one, and each one after that better than it.

So congrats for taking action and for the money you made and keep on going. You now have the momentum going for you.

Ok mate. 53 sales out of 3000 visitors adds up to 1.7%, which in all
    honesty isn't too bad!

One simple trick that could actually boost conversions would be to
    increase your price!

Your package is extremely valuable. Anyone can see that. People
looking to lose weight would definitely want in!

The $4.95 price tag is actually pretty degrading of something so
valuable. This can actually make think that the material you're
selling is second hand. It would be better to boost the price back
    up!

You could test it at various price levels.

Also, at a higher price (maybe $47) even if you end up getting
lesser actual sales, it's quite likely you'd end up earning quite a bit
more in terms of profit! And that's what matters.

Now though, the problem is your emails have a very poor
clickthrough rate. 3000 out of 55,000 is about 5.5%. Not good
    at all man.

It would be hard to pin point what the exact problem is as there
    are so many variables!

    1) how many emails got bounced?

    2) how many went to the spam box?

    3) the actual quality of the emails.

    4) people never ended up opening their emails.

    5) people aren't interested in what you have to offer
    in the first place.

And so on. It's very likely that multiple variables are
taking place at once. That's why it's impossible to get
    a 100% clickthrough rate.

But one thing you could definitely work
to do is to boost the quality of the emails you send
    out.

Simple stuff like improving the email's subject
can get more people to read your email and hence
increase the number of people who click through.

All in all though, this ain't a failure by any means!
    It's an achievement.

You can definitely improve your results though!

    Keep testing mate!

It sounds to me like you are doing pretty well. I wouldn't be complaining based off the results you just gave.

I would stick with what you know. Create some more websites with the same type of information, and get more subscribers. Relaunch your product on a new list and raise the price a lot. People will pay more money for what you are offering. With the new list, you won't be marketing to the same people, and you can offer them a different price.

I'm seeing two sets of numbers.

      53 sales
      revenue of $2491 (53 * 47 = 2491)

However, the sale price looks to be $4.95. 4.95*53=$262.35.

With you only keeping 25% of $262 - I can see how you might consider this a failure.

What happened? Did the price change to $4.95 after your first post? Are you selling something else instead?

Business is a gamble and you won't know what will gonna happen whether you will succeed or fail in your business. Failure will give you the lesson that you need for the growth toward success.

Try to follow the lead of those successful businessmen. Adapt their style. You can start from there to get the ladder toward success. Success is also hard work and right attitude.

    Hey buddy,

You didn't fail, you've done pretty well. The reason you are down is because you thought you would have done better, but you've done well for your first launch. Learn from what you did wrong and move on.

Did you just market through PPC and email lists? Maybe you should try other forms of advertising. You can try forums, videos and yahoo answers to name a few. Oh and don't forget about the power of article marketing. If you don't want to do any of that yourself just hire someone at Amazon Turk, you get really willing workers there that do a good job.

Also here is another idea. Instead of sending your traffic to your sales page, send them to a squeeze page. Get them on your list. Now imagine of those 3000 people that visited your site, if you offered them a free weight loss guide, I'd like to think a lot of visitors would take that in exchange for their email address.

Then build up your launch to be something big, through pre-launch tactics. You need to get them excited about your offer, waiting for it to be launched again. When the launch does arrive they SHOULD be more willing to buy from you, as you would have created a better relationship with your list. You'll also have them to market to forever.

Give that a go for a month or so, and I'm sure you'll have a lot more success.

Good luck with however you decide to move forward.

I think the fact that you actually took action says a lot about the 'success' of this launch. A lot of people [including myself] haven't even taken the step of putting a product together, much less actually made sales from it.

Go ahead and tweak your sales page to pull in more sales, probably raise the price a bit, and take your next shot at it. Good luck!

I know it's cliche, and I'm not the only one in this thread to say this, but you won't learn a single thing from success. You have already made it farther than most people ever will, and the only reason this is a failure is because you didn't meet your sales goal. You still made sales. So, figure out what went wrong, and do it again. That's the formula for success.

    Are you kidding me.

YOU WILL NEVER BE SUCCESSFUL WITH THIS ATTITUDE.

Stop looking at all these big IM marketers launch numbers
and pull your head out of your ass.

This was your FIRST LAUNCH. You were able to generate
almost $3k in one day from your first freakin launch.

My first launch made 1 sale. And I was still happy.

Honestly get your head out of your ass and wake the
    hell up.

You expected 500 sales on your first niche launch? What have
    you been smoking?

You are a prime example of one of the main problems I see
in IM. With all these big numbers guru throw around it makes
newbies chase after some pie in the sky dream instead of
getting down to reality and realizing it takes a hell of alot
    of tweaking, testing, and retweaking.

I remember when John reese said me made $2500 on his first product
launch and he was so happy. Then he went on to make a mill
    of course.

See the difference. He was thankful, you are crying like a baby.

Now I know I come off a bit strong, but I'm just telling you
    the truth.

Only in IM will someone NEW to business say "boohoo I made
"$3k in one day I'm ready to quit."

Again wake up and realize there is somethign called reality,
    and it's calling you.

Dude you just got a an education worth a hell of a lot more.Pop a bottle and celebrate because your on your way to being exactly where you want to be...

    Now for some criticism...

    1. I think your sales page is crap.

    2. I think the OFFER (not the actual products) seems scattered and vibes "crapyness" to me as well. Your product needs a much more narrow, clear and focused message, presentation and package.

Your offer seems thrown together, which is fine but it's not cohesive. Think about it...People who want to lose weight don't want 20 different people telling them 50 ways to lose their chubb or man boobs.

They want a single solution that's simple, easy, quick and effective.

If you can get results with something like that - what are you complaining about? You've learned the launch process and you can sit back and whine or you can use what you learned and do something better.

People will not always do what they say they will (that's putting it mildly) but they may also decide not to promote a "recycled" product to their list. The only person you can count on is yourself so keep going.

If you choose to continue in the niche I'd pare it down to one diet and one fitness plan at most. Right now it looks like there's everything there but the kitchen sink.

There are credibility issues with at least one of the images and frankly I'm disappointed you didn't choose to remove it after it was brought to your attention. In addition, your privacy policy, terms and and disclaimer are all 404 not found.

With the resources you have and what you've learned from this launch I'd bet you could repackage all or part of the product as a New Years resolution diet or something to that effect and re-launch for the new year.

      Dude,

Great initiative.. try selling it at higher prices.. I saw there are a lot of bonus. Selling it at a low price is bad for you... price is also related to the quality, I wouldn't pay $4.95 for something I thought it was bad.

Seriously I would easily pay at least $27 for this whole package. You could go up to $47 or $97 and test it.

It's easier to convice 10 guys to pay $97 than 100 guys to pay $9.70

I did a launch where I made more than $10k.. using a high traffic blog and a email list of 665 subscribers.
