Find a free list of dropshipper instead of buying the list. Some scammers like to sell a "newbie guide" that only contains the info that you can get for free. Find the right company and browse the testimonial/client review first. There are some scam forum that you can check before you making a decision

Skip the dropshipper and go to auctions or buy in bulk. The profit margins for dropshipping suck and there always seems to be someone else that can beat your price because they use a wholesaler or buy from an auction.

I have a tip, stay away from ebay when it comes to drop shipping. Use IM techniques to market your own webstore. With ebay you will not make any money because of their fees. Because of how everyone under cuts everyone you will only be making half a dollar on every product you drop ship. There are so many people drop shipping the same products in the same spot and only the huge guys are making money with it. They really don't care if they are making .50c a sale beause they are selling thousands of products a day.

A "ebay business" is far riskier than
    it's worth.

    1. You have NO control over your account. If, after spending months and some cases years building, it could be taken away from you in a heartbeat. Seemingly without thought for any number of reasons.

Your only asset, if it ever was, is taken away from you and you have
nothing to show for or a legacy to leave your family to build up on.

    2. The numbers just don't add up to it being worth my time.

Personally, I know I'm worth more than trying to compete to sell similar dropshipped items from the same companies all the other ebay sellers are using.

undercutting is a normal practice, and for the life of me, knowing from experinece how much these products cost to not only buy, but market, sell, and paying ebay fees...It just isn't worth the time for the money
    potentially earned.

Some say they want to get customer loyalty by undercutting...taking a
loss up front for a small chance that custoemr will come back and buy
the accessories...but now your just gambling. If I want to gamble, I go
    to a casino...and I hate gambling.

    Bottomline:

I'm not bitter, or angry. I'm glad I went through with the idea of
being a powerseller, but I had to seriously stop and think if going
through with it would be a waste of my money, and more importantly...

    my time.

Time I could spend doing activities I DO have far more control over,
like building a list, starting a REI career, network marketing, etc.

I looked at the numbers, and I made the decision to stop based
not on how I personally feel, but based on rather or not it would
give me the MOST control over my business and the numbers
(not having leverage, listing fee, final value fee, misc. fees, excessive paypal holds, etc) just didn't add up and made no logical sense to continue. I moved on.

And making the decision to "cut" the ebay gig to focus on a
business I can control and pass on to my kids and family was
    a very wise decision indeed.

But as always, If your going to go the ebay route, be prepared to
follow a very stringent line of rules and work EXTREMELY hard to
get there...It's like running a franchise, and less of a "business"
you can be proud to call your own because you have almost NO
control in the direction - creative or otherwise - you want to go.

The decision, as always, is yours to make.

I sold on eBay for quite a while and became a silver powerseller my first 90 days. I had and still have 100% positive feedback and was supposed to get a discount on my listings. I never got it because of my DSR. They penalized me because people didn't leave me a DSR which I have no control over at all. I haven't sold on eBay since.

Now, as far as making money on eBay, you can do that with or without a dropshipper. I prefer without. I have sold items for as high as $7100.00 for a single item. If you're going to do eBay, I find auctions as one of the best sources for your money along with yard sales and etc. If you don't have a lot of money to invest then reinvest the money you make in products to sell for awhile. Build your business for awhile by reinvesting your profits and then you can make a decent living eventually.

I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket for sure, you want to diversify.

PS I know I got off track from the question but thought this might help.

I do agree with you that we have no control over our eBay business. It could be taken away from you when they think it is time to tweet their policy.

Having said that, eBay is one of the fastest way to make money if you know how to do it right. I start to make reasonable amount of money after 3 months on eBay when I gain my status as a powerseller and it last for about 5 years. Unfortunately during the last 2 years there were lots of changes in their rules and policies and I was kick out late last year for infringement of their policies.

Now it seem that their policies are now more settled, I am thinking of making a comeback.

You can also sell on craigslist and other sites as well so don't rule these other options out.

I've been selling on eBay as PART of my online strategy for over 10 years. Yesterday I just had the most watched auction on eBay (over 7,000 viewers). Check my blog for details on that one jimcockrum.com/blog

For me it's about growing your mailing list, finding lifetime customers, and setting yourself apart from the competition by having your own products that are free from competition.

USE eBay as a marketing tool. Don't follow the herd and sell the popular widgets. Following the herd will put you into the massive pool of eBay "whiners" that complain about every nickle fee increase.

eBay could increase their fees by 10X and I'd still be making a killing though. Stay creative.

You have to be creative, not just do what everyone else is doing with ebay. There are certain methods that can work great on ebay.

My advice is to steer clear. The competition with drop shipping is unreal and you will have very small profit margins which means you have to sell a ton of stuff, which is easier said than done. Drop shipping on ebay was a big hit ten years ago, but only the people who really really know what they are doing should get into this, or risk losing a bunch of money. But that's just my advice. I'm sure there are some on here making decent money with drop shipping, but I bet they are all geniuses
