Ezinearticles: Holy Crap, My Article Is #1!

by Tom E 35 replies
Last week, I started using a new technique with my Ezinearticles submissions. The result was staggering: Within hours of my first article going live, I was number 2 in both Ezinearticles and Google.

Then, within a few days, my article disappeared off both Ezinearticles and Google. I couldn't even find it on the first 10 pages - it was gone!

...so I started analyzing my article to see what had gone wrong. Using a free online keyword density tool, I found that my target keyword had a density of 3.8%. A lot of people say that once you bump over 3%, Google may flag you, so based on that, I reduced the ratio to around 2.3% for my keyword. Then I resubmitted my article. That was last night.

I just came home and decided to log into the control panel of the affiliate product I'm promoting through my articles. It stated that I had made 3 sales today - wow!

I immediately went to my control panel and lo and behold: My article is now back at its number 2 spot in Google and Ezinearticles. Keyword density made 100% difference.

AND, another article I just wrote (using the same technique) went straight to number one in Ezinearticles today!

Holy crap, I can't believe I cracked the code! I see courses advertised (even on this forum) for $20/$30+ that promise to teach this very technique. Now that I figured it out, I can't believe how simple it was!

Btw, this is for a keyword that returns 8 million results on a broad search in Google. Google Adsense reports around 3000 unique clicks on that keyword per month.

Hmm, I'm thinking I should write a quick e-book and do a WSO on this method - and charge a more reasonable $5 per copy - what do you think?

Just my 2 cents, besides I cracked the code long time ago.

On the other hand, I would be curious to check out your findings..
Who said my post will lead to a wso launch? I'm just excited about my results, wanted to share them, and at the same time see what the interest level is. And about having to create a thread every five minutes - what on earth are you talking about?

Great thread that will lay down a pre-launch for your WSO..

Plus, someone with 24 posts only I think rather than launch a WSO give something for free and contribute more..
Dude, why the negative attitude? Whatever is going on, don't take it out on me! Also, if you read all the posts in this thread, you would find that I already explained why I'm not sharing the technique in this thread. Although I did already share the fact that if you keep your keyword density over 3%, Google will flag your articles. That would be one free (very helpful) tip that one poster here already benefited from.

Look, I do appreciate your posts (you keep bumping my thread to the top every time you post!) but if you post again, please contribute with something constructive - life's too short for complaining!

            Get real.

If you sell it as a WSO, especially for $5, you will do EXACTLY what you say you don't want to. Not to mention people will buy the WSO and tell anyway.

If everyone was like you, this forum would have a lot less information and be less helpful. I'm glad that a good number of people look past the quick cash and relise that sharing information will make them a lot more money in the long run.

Man, you guys are such haters! Your reply is more dominated by anger than actual advice that could further the conversation - both for me and other warriors.

I love constructive criticism, but when you guys come across with the attitude of schoolyard bullies, it's very hard to listen. I see post like yours in almost every thread I see here - especially the WSO threads, and iI wish you people could get your points across without being derogatory. As a matter of fact, I'm tempted to start a thread on it, because I have a feeling I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Regarding your "me not being helpful" comment, you obviously haven't looked through my posts. Because if you do, you will see that I have spent a lot of time giving people feedback and advice that has earned me both positive comments and PM's from appreciative fellow Warriors.

      Ernie,
I think that is actually a great idea, but doing so could hurt the sales of current WSO's that are selling "become number one in Ezine/Google" ebooks. I don't want to piss anyone off, and I don't think listing the technique (which is simple, but quite elaborate) would be fair to them. Hope you understand.

There could be much more going on here than you think. It's easy to confuse correlation with cause-and-effect. I know that EZA will put newly approved articles at the top of the homepage and category page for a day. I also know Google crawls EZA quite often. When you re-submitted the articles and they got approved, you probably got the same benefits as the first time around.

Watch it for another couple weeks. If they remain highly ranked after your KW density changes, more power to you! If not, you probably made the mistake of thinking it was cause-and-effect when it was really correlation.

I hope I'm wrong, by the way. I never begrudge anyone their success.

John has a good point. When you first submitted your article, it was up there at the top for a few days. Then it dropped off the face of the earth.

Now you've tweaked it and re-submitted it, and lo and behold it's at the top again. But the first time it took a couple of days to drop off. Have you waited a couple of days yet before claiming that keyword density made all the difference?

I'm not saying KD wasn't responsible. Just saying you might be a bit premature on your analysis.

      I, too, hope I'm wrong.

      Best of luck with it!

      John

John, also see my response to Zeus66. Until I started using my current article SEO method, my articles never got even close to being on the first page of Ezinearticles - much less Google. Now, they are hitting number one like pearls on a string. Even if they did drop off after a couple of weeks, I would have no complaints whatsoever, as I'm making sales left and right off of the views I'm getting right now. If that continues even for just the next 2 weeks (if your theory pans out), I know I'm doing a lot better than the average Ezinearticles writer out there, who are struggling to even make a penny.

Bottomline: It takes me less than 20 minutes to write and submit an article. As long as I'm doing that every day, using my current technique, even if your theory is right, I'll still be making money like gangbusters.

I'll say it: KD wasn't responsible. I'm guessing he brushed his teeth between the time he made the change, and the time he noticed the results, but the teeth brushing wasn't responsible either.

I don't want to piss anyone off, and I don't think listing the technique (which is simple, but quite elaborate) would be fair to them. Hope you understand
But for $5, you'll gladly say "to hell with fairness, no matter who it pisses off" , lol. Hopefully he/she doesn't understand, because it makes no sense. No one here is obligated to withhold information simply because someone else is trying to make a buck off of it.

Sharing info here is neither fair or unfair, it just is. Every tip and strategy shared here is sold by someone, many of them Warriors.

The only reason you aren't willing to share it here is because you want to sell it. That's fine, knock yourself out. I hope you sell a thousand of them. But spare us the bogus "it wouldn't be fair" excuse. We're not that dumb.

Thanks for that feedback, I appreciate it! When I wrote that, I actually meant it, believe it or not. I haven't been on this forum for as long as some of you guys, so I'm learning the rules of conduct as I go. Clearly, now I see that the "wouldn't be fair" line doesn't hold water (I really thought I would piss some of the WSO people on the same topic off!). So thanks again man - I just learned something!

Having said that - yes, I absolutely want to make a buck on it! Just like the other warriors who are posting WSO's for it - you don't see them giving it away for free either, which they shouldn't! I'm sure that they, just like I, paid their dues to learn this information. The technique I came across would not have "clicked" with me had it not been for the exhausting work I have done trying to promote articles over the past 12 months. It finally clicked for me, and I couldn't be happier about it. Next time, I'll formulate my thread a bit differently, to avoid all these "passionate" replies, haha.

That's actually a great point you bring up. However, I already tested the waters on it. I resubmitted several articles for another product I push a while back, but nothing happened in either Google or Ezine. There was no boost in views, and the articles were nowhere to be found on the first 2-3 pages of search.

      >>>> I know that EZA will put newly approved articles at the top of the homepage and category page for a day.>>>>

I'd be surprised if they're still doing this, as SO many people would take advantage of it - seems to easy. In my experience at least, this has never been the case, except for with the articles I have modified keyword-ratio on.

Probably better to EARN 4-5 Grand with it at first, then you'll have something to talk about.

Since getting on the first page of google isn't really that difficult, depending on the keywords.

"Animal Husbandry" or "Credit and Loans"?

Yep, you missed something, lol. What I shared was the keyword density factor. Knowing about that already puts you ahead of the game, but it doesn't matter how google/ezine-friendly your density is if your article isn't optimized to bypass all the other thousands of articles that are being submitted every day, so that it can hit that number 1 spot.

From you profile I noticed you joined recently.

A while back there was a very heated debate about people saying

"Wow! I made this great discovery I'm gonna make it a WSO!"

A lot of people felt, particularly if you developed the techniques through help you received at the Warrior Forum, you could give back by making it freely available to Warriors. In fact, there were some techniques suggested where you could make even more money longterm by giving it away e.g. a downloadable pdf where you could establish yourself as an expert/get optins/gain kudos.

          A classic win-win.

Tom Peters, in his book "The Work Matters" recommends sharing all your knowledge (except proprietary secrets) with your clients because every day you should learn more that will always put you one step ahead.

Believe me, Garrie's reply was very restrained compared to some of the comments on that thread.

            Wow, interesting thread.

You sound hell-bent on establishing yourself as a very profitable and know-it-all article marketer. That is why a lot of people are skeptical. You don't seem to have a lot of history, a branded name or credentials. Just make sure that anything you write and release is not already copyrighted. Doing so could get you into a lot of trouble.

Suggestion: Instead of testing old stuff, you should be testing brand new articles, products and websites...and you should do it many times over before claiming that it is actually a successful technique, and not just a bit of blind luck or something completely different.

I see it all the time here. Someone hits a home run with a single article and make a few sales, then all of a sudden they're claiming to be the next article marketing guru with the sure-fire, can't miss article marketing technique of the future, when, in fact, they have absolutely no idea why their article hit the top...whether they think they do or not.

People are starting to become keen on this...so do your due diligence and proceed the right way. Earn your way and you won't have to deal with comments like this anymore.

Good feedback Allen, thanks! All I know now is that 3 articles I wrote using a specific technique landed at and are still at number 1 and 2 in rankings. Before using this technique, I had written and submitted a LOT of articles, and that never happened even once. We shall see in a couple of weeks if my ranking still sticks, but like I said in my previous post (see above), even if it doesn't, I can't lose, because I'm making commissions left & right due to the traffic I'm getting (which again, NEVER happened before I started using my technique). So I know it's not blind luck. But point taken - great feedback, thanks!

I have written close to 200 articles on Ezinearticle.com and have many of these articles as #1.

This is a great traffic generator and I must say that Ezinearticle.com is the best out there when it comes to article directories.
