Question about product download options. What else is there other than ejunkie?

I have a product that I want to sell but compressed its over 640mb and I was wondering is there any other option than ejunkie to deliver the product after sale?

Its a combined package so it has to go as the complete thing. Any ideas would be great.

Thanks,
Jason

Why not just host it on your site using Amazon s3 services? That's how the big guru's seem to do it...

So how are they using this? Just after payment send a link to this? Does it allow download links etc?

If you host something on Amazon S3 - it's not hosted on your site. It's on Amazon servers. And the customer would still have to download the 640 Mb, which seems to be way too much for a download.

I guess the best option is to create a membership site using aMember, for instance, and put the files in the members area for viewing and accessing. In this case the customer won't have to download them at all. Less hassle, easier for everyone.

You can check out DLGuard - that allows you to self-host your files, and since it all runs on your server, you'll get better performance.

Make sure you have a good quality hosting provider, though, as thats where big file downloads can have issues.

And even so, I'd still recommend splitting that file into two or three files to make it easier to download.

Having said that, I've got clients who are selling files that large and larger.

But the smaller, the better, so if you don't mind breaking it into a couple or few files, it may be more solid for the future.

      Hi Jason -

Like some of the others said, you can host it on your web-site and just create a download page (http://www.yoursite.com/download.html) with a link pointing to the zipped file. If after testing you feel that the download time is too long, break up the file into 2 - 4 different files, again, just hosting it on your server.

      Hope this helps! Good luck!

For a one time download you would be hard pressed to have a better, more secure, professional system such as DLGuard - Download page protector, create expiring download links for a number of reasons.

Support is nearby, the product works well, you can BAN abusers, you can limit downloads, you can hide the source file... It is hosted on YOUR server etc...

I like the sounds of DLGuard but what kind of hosting would you suggest for this? I have hostgator but what package deal would be best for a product of this size?

    Thanks,
    Jason

      Hostgator is fine.

You just install it in one go with the wizard into a folder on your domain and it is there.

You just click add product and tell it how much to charge, what payment method, where the file is located, add an autoresponder email and set the download parameters.

Then you get the link code for the payment button and it is ready to sell.

    Hi Jason,

Since your file is pretty big, I'd recommend starting off on the $8 per month account - that gives you a pretty big chunk of bandwidth, which is what you're going to need.

You can always upgrade to a bigger account later if needed.

Also, it might be worth checking out the file you're selling - often you can shrink the size a LOT without losing quality.

What kind of file is it? Video, audio, PDF, etc.?

    cheers
