Aweber Tips: Giving Your List a Rest Over Christmas

Face it: People on our lists understand that during the holidays, emails still go out using an a/r, like AW. So a customer or prospect's natural reaction is, "Geez, this guy is emailing me on Christmas Day?! WTF"

Some might disagree, but perception is everything with your lists.

This is especially true if your lists have non-IM people on it.

I know. We've heard about it in year's past.

Tip #1: Go in AW and make your list(s) Inactive. That will pause all sends until you reactivate it. You have 30 days to reactivate. Just don't forget.

Tip #2: Add 14-30 days into a campaign. This won't stop everything, but it's a crude workaround that will at least spread out any of your sends temporarily.

Tip #3: Change your signature temporarily. Add a PS, or PPS to it, that says something like "My message today was sent automated, which explains why you may received it while you were out of the office... on a holiday...." etc. etc.

Hope any of this helps! Merry Christmas

For some people its "business as usual".

    No "rest for the wicked".

I have had several emails from people promoting me some products

But I think you have a great point here about taking a break from your business!

    Hey Sumit,

Merry Christmas. Yesterday, I struck an awesome deal for you.

I twisted my friend Jack Ripper's arms to give you his best-selling e-book "How To Flush Thousand Dollar Down The Toilet" that usually sells for $97 for just $47.

This is just a Christmas special since he can't keep selling this product at this insanely low price forever.

So, make sure you grab it:

It's Christmas. I expect gifts or at least a catch free greeting.

    Thank You,
    Sumit

I like it! Good advice! Who can have a bad attitude towards receiving an email like this?

Actually I'll be more excited to see what kind of offers show up on christmas day, and open more than usual because it will probably be an extra good offer.

If you send an offer make sure it is the kind that only comes once a year and has a wow factor.
