Let's cut the BS - Who's stuff has made you money?

Hi Warriors,

We regularly see people posting here about 'have you seen XXX's new product' and 'I bought that, it is good' - but..........

We all know that much of these things are just 'interesting' and don't necessarily end up with you making any money because of them.

So - rather than just keep confusing people by telling them what's available, how about we share something that we bought that actually resulted in us making more money - real money, that we probably can only attribute to that product.

I buy a lot of stuff, sometimes just to support the person who seems to be working hard and putting out good stuff, sometimes just to see if anyone is saying anything new, and sometimes - because I can already see how it will make me money. So while I buy a lot - it's often not because I'm expecting it to make me money.

I recently bought Terry Telford's retirement package and that just arrived in the post (lots of DVDs of stuff), and I have no doubt that I can use a lot of it next year to make money.

One thing that definitely helped me make some money recently was John Taylors blog automater (it lets you drop content into a directory and drip feed it into your blog). I set up some blogs with them in various niches and they made money. I know some of it was to do with how I built and promoted the blogs, but that little script (I'd have had it made if John hadn't already done it) was definitely part of making that money easier.

What can you recommend to other warriors that has actually made you money.

If you can also state whether it was low, medium or high ticket - that'll probably be interesting too, so that other warriors can see what is actually working for people rather than what they 'think' is working, or what the launches and sales letters tell them is working.

    Without trying to sound cheeky....

Picking one thing and sticking at it till it made me money has made me money.

Jumping from method to method always...always...loses me money.

When I'm making money I decide if my ROI is worth the time invested and if I can scale it. If yes I keep going strong or outsurce. Then and only then do I move on.

    Persistant action...makes me money.

This thing I'm always telling to myself.. If I've ever been consistent in the last 4 years, I'm pretty sure I make hundreds of thousands now...

That's exactly the opposite of what I'm talking about........

      What has made YOU money......

I've made money with 100 things and in lots of ways, but saying generic stuff like that doesn't help anyone.

If there is no specific product that's caused you to make money - you can say that too.

      • I hope not to be too vague in my answer here....so here goes..

but in a nutshell mate its been the fact I have been part of a 'mastermind' group which has enabled me to make the most money online..now don't get me wrong their are some select gurus such as 'Mike Dillard' ...'Eben Pagan'...and perhaps Frank Kern...

but fluff/hype a side...my income only skyrocketed when I actually partnered with a mastermind group/ coaching club....and truth be told am also an affiliate of these guys....

am not going to share the link here as it may seem self serving, but having studied countless marketing courses/..followed various gurus ...you'll notice a 'trend' when nearly ALL of them recommend the idea of 'networking'...'masterminding' fellow internet marketers in your niche/ or involved in what your trying to do / achieve..

now this may seem odd as obviously no competio of yours is going to give away their REAL secrets..but it can be beneficial where both parties are happy..am not sure if you have seen Frank Kerns latest blog video? (awesome and made a lot of sense of what am trying to say )..google em (its free)

Andy, I can't answer your question honestly because I don't buy stuff, at
least not to learn from. I buy things to review as that is part of my business
      model.

However, having said that, a lot of the products I have bought to review,
after reading them, I can honestly say I've seen things in them where I've
said to myself, "Ooo, I do that."

So as that as a qualifier...

Here are the people whose products I've gotten to review where pieces
of their products I can say are things that have worked for me.

      Alvin Yuang
      The Nitro Boys
      Kevin Riley
      John Taylor
Willie Crawford (though the book was a compilation of authors)

Most of my applied knowledge came from the following sources:

      My first mentor
      Forum posts
      Articles online

And one book that I did purchase many years ago (out of print) by Juan
      Walker and Chris Gibson.

These two guys have come a long way from their early days as affiliate
marketers. They now have a HUGE line of products on Clickbank in the
health niche and their first book taught me a ton.

But most of my success, if I'm going to be really honest, came from a lot
of trial and error and just saying to myself, "Screw it...I'm going to give
this a shot and if it doesn't work, so what?"

I have never been afraid to take chances. My first sales page ever went
against every convention you could possibly imagine. Hell, I had a big old
cheesy Stop Sign right at the top of the page.

That product sold 200 copies a month out of Clickbank for almost a year.

Sure, I got lucky. A top affiliate found it and promoted the hell out of it.
I don't think my gravity for that product ever got above 10 and it never
made it past 30 something in the marketplace, but it gave me my first
      big break.

Point is, I did that flying by the seat of my pants and not because of
      some marketer's product.

Truth is...no product is going to make you money. Only you can make
you money...and that's through hard work and determination.

I think we all get too hung up on buying things to make us rich.

Once you've learned the basics, the rest of it is giving people what they
want and showing them why they should get it from you and not the
      guy next door.

That's done through a solid USP and getting yourself exposure. For that,
social networking (forums, Twitter, etc.) are perfect mediums.

When I tell people that I'm successful without having to even send people
to a sales page, the answer I get is, "That's because you have a name."

News flash folks...In 2002, I wasn't even in this business yet. Nobody knew
      me from Adam.

Unless we're some famous celebrity who decides to break into IM, none of
us had a name when we first started.

      We made those names.

More to the point...we earned those names.

And if you think each and every once of us who has a name online didn't
earn it, try selling crap year after year and see if the only name you get
      is one of scammer.

When Paul Myers makes a post here, I read it word for word from top to
bottom because I know it's going to contain gold.

Same with Andy Henry, who started this post and so many others.

Kay King, she doesn't hang around Main Discussion as much as she used
to, is one of the wisest people I have ever met online. Her posts are so
      filled with wisdom.

John Taylor has a way of saying a chapter's worth of knowledge in one
      paragraph.

I hope you get my point. These people have earned their reputations.

But no product that any of them put out is going to do anybody a hill of
squat if the people who buy them don't get off their fannies and do
something with the info in them.

I apologize for this long reply. I understand where Andy is coming from
with this post, but I wish it were as simple as, "the folks with the good info
are the ones who help us make money."

It's just not so black and white.

Top of the list, Jenn Dize's ghostwriting course - responsible for some $12,000 in the last six months.

Closely followed by some copywriting material from Andrew Seltz - responsible for about $6,000.

Both of these were under $50.

Well, yes; at the moment my PayPal account has $1.13 in it, and my main bank account is overdrawn by $44.51 - so my net worth, according to my bank balance, is roughly $43.38 below zero.

I have a video on YouTube about just how financially screwed I am, too. About how I lost my job at Microsoft, got evicted, moved to Oregon, and then my wife took the kids and left me. That was... what, six, eight weeks ago? Yeah, I've had one hell of a year.

I did an interview with someone earlier this month; maybe he'll pop up and confirm how I said outright that while I'd been making about $4k a month recently, I'd be lucky to bring in $2k this month.

Perhaps someone else can confirm that a couple months ago, I said I'd made about $15,000 from IM. Do the math on that; the last month has been pretty rough. In fact, I believe my total income over the past 30 days is just about $800.

I submitted a $4,000 invoice in mid-November. The client... didn't pay. Just flat-out didn't pay. That was going to be a good day, too. Biggest sale ever. A month's worth of income in a day. Product delivered, and I took a 20% deposit up front, too.

But he didn't pay. So I had to rush my product, which really wasn't ready to be released. I could have made more with that product if I'd done a proper launch, but I didn't have time. I needed that $4k so I'd have time to finish the product.

Am I having trouble? Well, yeah. And on top of it, my work conditions are pretty crap. The OP in this thread has ordered stuff from me that isn't ready yet, and should have been delivered on Monday. But I'm well screwed right now, and sometimes I get a little bogged down in it.

        But I'm still here.

What about you? Would you still be here if you were this screwed?

Or would you have given up long ago and headed back into the rat race?

        Ask Jason Moffat about that.

          Most people can't imagine.

Strangely though, the bottom isn't quite as bad as you might imagine. By that I mean that although you might not have the "things" that many think are important, the toughest times kind of distill your essence. If you are a kind person, you'll probably become kinder. If you're giving, you won't stop (although you'll probably have to give your time). If you drink, you just might drink more. Of course, if you're prone to depression and anxiety...

As far as the numbers, we only see what he's said about the size of his shovel. We don't have any idea how deep the hole might be.

IMO it takes a very exceptional individual to lay him or her self bare like that in a public forum. I don't know many who would still be standing in this biz after going through what you described. Keep hanging in there -- from personal experience, I know things can/will turn around. I'm rooting for you CD!

It shouldn't. There's no reason to be ashamed of a downturn or a struggle. Happens to everyone.

Tony Robbins and Don Lapre both started empires out of a one-room apartment. Jeff Paul was living in his sister's basement. Frank Kern lost everything in a flood (and again later, to the FTC). John Reese had a six figure credit card debt. And both Tom Bell and Jason Moffat were, yes, homeless.

              C,

Your my friend I think your a pretty cool guy and have one heck of a sense of humor. Let me share something with you.

I was doing very well in my life at one point well for me and one day i lost my apartment. I moved home .couldn't handle it so i left. when i left my mom was upset because she had not enough to pay the rent if i did. so i gave her 2 hundred dollars to cover the difference and i left. When i got to my little town I lived in before I thought finding a place wouldn't be too hard and I could probably stay with some friends. No one took me in .

so now I was on the street. not so bad people knew me but i did not have a roof over my head . I slept outside for a couple weeks before i thought man this is crap i am going camping my disability check will be a week and a half from now so i took the money i had went and bought a tent etc and went camping. .Well camping was scary for me because of how I am One night I was offered to come to the big campground by the ranger guy I said ok I will he said BBL never came. had all my stuff packed and ready so now i had to unpack and set up again next day i decided to walk to the site. where I came across a bear. LOL scared the crap out of me,

but the bear looked at me and turned quickly into the bushes. great i thought even a bear can't stand me . so I managed to get a ride go to the camp site and GOT HIRED as a worker course I am a big fellow and this was physical work so the first few days were kind of tough but I soon got into it and was working super fast and well. next big thing to happen was I met my wife I have been with Wendy now over 4 yrs I went from no bed to owning a house a car and making a living. I say this to give you encouragement If anyone thought "my life is screwed" it was me and the way I am made it so freikin hard to deal with.

You will come out of this and if you were closer you would have a place to stay right here with me . Your a good guy and this just puts you in the best place to see a miracle happen and it will your life will change around within the next few months not just a little you wait and see I look forward to the update.

Anyways Love ya C your gonna be just fine this year was tough on a ton of people but one thing I for one stand with you bro!

              Merry Christmas to you.

Oh sorry for going off topic the way i made cash this year was with my own stuff and selling old toys at the toypeddler.com I don't ascribe to others programs I do my own but I did get some good pointers from Jeff Dedrick. and I have learned a few things in here so I guess that's all.
              Thanks

I have a video on YouTube about just how financially screwed I am, too. About how I lost my job at Microsoft, got evicted, moved to Oregon, and then my wife took the kids and left me. That was... what, six, eight weeks ago? Yeah, I've had one hell of a year.

          Hey Bro, great honest rant.

And sometimes being "screwed" ends up being a good thing.

Maybe it's just me...but I would rather do business with an HONEST dude living out of his car......then some Warrior hiding behind a "white picket fence of an avatar".....pretending that life is a friggin' rose garden 24/7 365.

I don't trust people like that.....I don't trust the "Jones Family" on any level.

CDarklock.....good luck 2 you'se brother. For real. And thanks for keeping it real.

And believe me...coming clean is a lot easier then playing the role.

That's why I come out and tell people the kind of baggage they get with me.

My year...much like yours....was like a rusty Hope Chest with a lost set of friggin' keys.

IRS up my ass.....chick I'm in love with marries some other dude.....smokin' two packs of Marlboro Lights a day now.....and back on the Jack on the Rocks....and while a lot of cash was made this year....it don't always buy happiness now does it?

And Ja Mo was homeless in Oregon. Trying being homeless in Salt Lake City, Utah.....like I was 15 years ago. It was impossible to buy a beer in that god forsaken city...even if you managed to hustle up the change.

With that said....life is good. As will yours be....for sure. The strength of the human spirit is rather remarkable.

Happy Holidays Peeps....make 2010 your best year ever.

p.s. Yo Andy.....to answer your OP bro.....Gary Halbert's Gun To The Head Theory.....which has always been responsible for what ever success I've enjoyed. Happy Holidays to you'se AH.

Hey Vince..this one is nice bro..

Most of the time things work our way when we're pressed against some of the biggest challenges in our lives. On the point of fighting or giving up..some of us moves on despite the dangers and problems still facing us..and then like a stroke of miracle, things move our way..Human spirit prevails.

            As to the OP..

I can't think of a single one product that allowed me to work online fulltime..

It's a consolidation of several things I learned and most of them came from actual experience.

I'm a great fan of info products some I buy for additional knowledge some as reference for possible future projects but I can't really pinpoint one that
made me instant money right after I bought it.

I think Andy is asking for products that will make you money right after
buying it..in which case I would say PLR's and MRR's would probably do
            the trick..

            All the best warriors

Once we all find the deal that is making money, it becomes saturated. It will never be that easy to just locate the money maker. I don't believe it works that way. And what makes money today, may not make money tomorrow, or at least will probably make less in the future as we reach saturation.

This thread is a good idea, but it isn't good enough (in my opinion). What works for you will not work for me.

If people were to post action plans that they took to make money, THAT would be helpful.
I've made money several times from buying resale rights products from Neil Shearing. He's a good guy, his stuff is high quality and I always add value when selling, so I know before I buy his stuff that it'll make me money. I've paid $1000 for resale rights from him and made that back in a weekend just selling it from a blog which shows the value and puts it in the context of a strategy to make money.

There are some things which are just a no brainer because they're things I'd planned to create and then someone else does a great job of it and I just buy their rights and sell their product instead of creating my own.

Most people in the IM niche just need simple step by step instructions so that they don't have to think too much, so it's easy to create many variations on that using different strategies.

I should say that I don't often sell to the IM niche, so I only do it when I think I'm able to say something useful at the right time - rather than just constantly pushing stuff for people to buy, so that seems to help. When I do go to the effort of creating something it always sells.

I have bought dozens of WSO products. None of them have made me money directly simply because I havent applied any of the techniques as described. Having said that, my IM knowledge (due to the WSO products) has increased 10 fold.

Surely I can search the web and find the same information for free. However, who has thousands of spare hours to do that. By buying the products, my time is reduced significantly.

          Dan Kennedy's Ultimate Sales Letter

Tested Advertising Methods - John Caples

And funnily enough, I've learned more from free resources (perhaps because I don't buy as much as I read free stuff), such as:

My business model is pretty simple. I advertise primarily offline, build email and snail mail lists and sell stuff.

          I don't get too fancy.

So I would say the stuff that made me money have been products I bought on mail order, list building, info marketing, relationship building and advertising from guys Jim Straw, Melvyn Powers, Joe Karbo, Ben Suarez, Russ Von Hoelscher, Terry Dean, Marlon Sanders and a few others.

I have also learned a few things from some newer marketers. But my foundation is basically old style mail order translated to the Internet.

Dan Kennedy's books and monthly membership.

Plus serious investing in personal time with direct sales mentors.
The two that meant the most were Larry Thompson and the late Jim Rohn for no-nonsense step-by-step applications in direct selling.

The education enabled me to generate $3 million in 11 months.
That was only total sales tho, I only got to keep a small portion of that.

      Again - this is meaningless....

We could say the same with a list of 100 people - but that's just speculative and not helpful.

Which of those people have made YOU money?

I'm actually surprised that no-one has quoted any of the $1000 big Guru products which always say they'll take you to making great money - I'm sure many warriors have bought such products - does this mean that the things that are making people money in reality are nothing to do with any of these big ticket product?

Andy, Nitro Marketing Blueprint ($297) is basically my business model
minus a couple of things that they teach that I don't use. But I knew
all this before I got the package, which I got in order to actually review
the product in order to sell it. In fact, I even made a video review of
it that's floating around the Internet.

Now I know that saying something would make you money in hindsight
(after you've already been doing it) is speculation, as who knows how well
you would have done with the product with your current level of knowledge.

In other words, if I got the product 4 years ago, would it have made me
        money?

No way of knowing as it's after the fact.

But to answer your question about the big ticket items, I've never bought
        one of them.

Everybody I've ever spoken to (people I trust very much) have said to
me that if you've been doing marketing for a year or more, most of the
stuff in those big ticket products is pretty basic.

If that's true, that's a pretty sad commentary on the products themselves.

Ok well I will just tell you about something I bought a couple of months ago that has made me much more money than I have ever made with adsense. I saw the thread on it and I figured adsense was something I had always been interested in conquering to a high degree but just hadn't gotten around to it and was only making a few pennies here and there (never received a cheque).

Anyway followed X Factor's adsense course and now make quite a bit from it So that course made me money.

Material from most gurus like these will usually cost ten times that of other product offerings. There is no reason to think that one has to committ to a gurus work in order to make moree money than if they were to implement anothers work.

When I started out, I didn't know about Warrior Forum, or any IM Products whatsoever. I used to hang out at some other, lesser known forums and read quite a few blogs too.

This post over at The University Kid (one of the blogs I used to read) got me started with Site flipping. Prior to that, I was writing articles, doing blog commenting, etc and earning okay, not very bad.

I took that post as a base and figured out everything else myself. It was no cakewalk, but the results were nothing short of awesome. After a few months (of work) my income shot to mid four figures. And then, devising and applying some of my own strategies, I shot my way past five figures.

So yeah, Jason's stuff got me started at that time and then, after I came to know about these forums 'n all, and buying and implementing some other stuff, I added a couple more income streams and is doing cool now.

For me, it was Jason and George (Google Sniper). Their stuff made me very good money, and continues to do so today.

    Andy,

Aren't you being slightly harsh on one or two here. Yes they are being a little too general, but you too in your OP said something that hasn't yet made you money.

    You said:

"I recently bought Terry Telford's retirement package and that just arrived in the post (lots of DVDs of stuff), and I have no doubt that I can use a lot of it next year to make money."

You haven't even tried it yet you are confident that it will help you make money.

Nothing wrong with that, but you aren't applying your own rule to this thread.

I've bought many products over the years, but two fairly recent ones that helped me increase my income were Mike Hill's and Eben Pagan's Guru mastermind DVD's.

Mike Hill is a good guy. In fact both are, but I'm not particularly a fan of Eben's psychobabble regarding the mind and falsely talking about being an animal etc. But some of his stuff on marketing does help make money if applied.

But the big difference is - I KNOW I will make money - and that's exactly why I bought it.

When I buy something with the intention of making money from it - I do.

That's something that many beginners in IM don't seem to understand - that you CAN know before you buy something how to make money with it.

I've bought resale rights from people in the past and made money immediately, so these days I know before I buy something how I'm going to monetise it for myself - so it's not as speculative as people seem to think things have to be.

Maybe that's only because I've spent 10 years in IM and found a lot of things that don't work, but I have confidence in my ability to make things happen when I give them focused attention.

I already knew how I was going to make money with Terrys package before I paid for it - if I didn't, I wouldn't have bought it.

My answer to your question is none of them.

Now I probably only bought 3-5 information products. After I paid for them I read it and never applied the technique because it was useless. Never really found a product that will make me money, and most likely never will since I won't buy anymore.

The only product that will actually make you money is one that tells you "Get off the forums, stop reading, stop buying informational products, start working, then work more, then work more, then work again".

But you know what? This is kind of a catch 22 thing.

First of all you said you bought 3-5 products but never applied them
      because the stuff was useless?

How do you know if you've never made any money? How can you possibly
know what's useful or useless just from reading it?

I can't...and I've been doing this for almost 7 years.

Second of all, you say the only thing that's going to make you money is
to work, work more and work again.

      Doing what?

How can you work at anything if you don't know what you're doing?

In that case, you're using straight trial and error. And don't get me wrong,
that's always an option. But without a solid foundation to base that trial
and error on, you're setting yourself up for a long period of little or no
      income.

I should know. When I first started, I did the trial and error thing for 5
months without buying one info product.

      I made $28.

Then I bought a couple of things and started making money because of
what I learned. I then built on those things through trial and error. But
I didn't base my whole business model on my own hunches...not when I
      was totally clueless.

So you can say you'll never buy anything, and that's fine. But you better
get some useful info from somewhere or I wouldn't want to be you when it
comes time to pay the landlord at the end of the month.

The reason is because I have been around long enough to know what works and what doesn't. Now the products "would" bring you money, but in no way it would bring the advertised amount of the product.

All of them that I bought were all junk about making a fast buck, which I am not into doing that stuff really. Just bought it to read it.

I have also reviewed a TON of products for people since I am a moderator at DP people always ask me to review their stuff. So I can say most of the time it is just regurgitated information that I have seen before.

You are right by saying if I never did try it then I wouldn't know. My point being is that it would never make the money they claim it is making within the time frame specified.

Keep in mind, I never bought an informational product over $10. So I get what I paid for.

The one thing that has consistently made me money over the past year is CPA marketing. I have made it a point to learn anything and everything I can about this, and it has paid off richly. I was just lazy to begin with, and wanted to see quick results, and CPA gives you results faster than just about any other area of IM that I know of. That being said, now that I've built my CPA machine consistently over the past year and things are running smoothly, I really need to graduate to list-building, which is something I've avoided like the plague for the longest time. It's time now to conquer my apprehension about it!

Mike Filsaime - for taking me under his wing back in 2005 and teaching me how he used viral marketing to build his empire so I can use the same tactics to launch successful sites of my own... then letting me help further build his business to the point that he trusts me to run crucial parts of his business without even questioning my decisions. Butterfly Marketing certainly has made me a boatload of money.

Ewen Chia - his content is great, but how he markets his content is where I learned the most from him.

Perry Belcher - for the PPC stuff I learned from him in Wholesale Traffic System and for his Social Media Marketing video on YouTube

Ryan Deiss - for his ability to use several front end products to get people into one universal back end continuity program. His entire continuity blueprint, mainly The Publisher Model, is serving me well in a non-im niche.

James Grandstaff - for being the only person inside of my personal mastermind and for all the late night talks where we gave each other key insights to help us grow our businesses and just be better at achieving in general.

Joe Karbo and Richard Gilly Nixon - for spurring me to take massive action following Joe's Lazy Man's Way To Riches and virtually tripling my income in a matter of months after putting it into motion.

Napoleon Hill - for getting me to realize that we can harness the power we have always had inside of us and have used several times without realizing it if we follow a simple plan that most people are too insecure to do themselves. ( Auto Suggestion )

Joe Karbo again for putting me back on to Napoleon Hill's philosophy for achievement.

There are many more marketers that have had an influence on me, but putting into action what these guys taught me has made me the most money.

I want to throw some love to Angela Edwards. I had a site in a tough niche and just could not crack the Top 10 at Google for the 2 main keywords for nothin'. About mid-year, I got a couple of her link packets and within a few weeks the site was Top 10 for both keywords. I know those packets have lost their "charm" because too many jackasses abused them since then, but there's no doubt that Angela is/was onto something great there.

EDIT: I also want to give Tony Shepherd props. I didn't buy anything from him that made me money directly, but I learned from him about the basic way he has his business set up and his overall mindset. I can point to some intangible things that have changed for the better in my own business and thinking that have increased my income in the 2nd half of this year. If you're not following Tony, you're missing out, seriously.

    Merry Christmas from Greece Everyone!

I gave up on buying info products a long time ago, because I never found anything that was a good fit for my particular business model or other interests I had. I do buy products related to SEO/Traffic Generation now and then, but it's tough to say that any one of them made a clear difference - it's more a case of the sum of the parts.

That said however, I'll share a couple of things that have made me money...certainly far more than the investment I made.

I paid my way into the WF through H4P, and after spending 6 months or so reading and participating in the forum, I launched a WSO based on my "Market Research" on what Warriors wanted. That WSO netted an average of $1K per day for it's 67 day run.

If I remember correctly, I was spending $24.95 per month for H4P and the WF was a bonus. By using that "Bonus", investing the time and effort to learn, studying the trends I saw in the WSO section and listening closely to what members were talking about, I just acted on my research and made money hand over fist.

I became a member of the War Room when it first launched, and in perusing the initial few threads, I came across a post Allen made about product development. Three hours later I emailed my primary list and generated a couple of thousand dollars in just a few hours.

If anyone wonders why I invest my time here, it's because over the years, my participation in the WF has earned me well over $1M.

While I am not an Internet Marketer per se, the value for me comes from picking up nuggets here and there and integrating them into my own business model. I've learned from the top guns and newcomers alike, whether through specific tips or rethinking the solution to someone's question.

For me at least, the single most effective "Info Product" I've ever paid for is the Warrior Forum

Sorry to hear about your troubles, but you seem to be rebounding in every way except financially at the moment, and it sounds like that's next. That you've kept your sense of humor through all that is admirable.

As for the original question, what I've learned from Jimmy D. Brown has helped me make money. Reading Joe Sugarman's books on copywriting have been helpful.

But really, something I read long ago that I took to heart has probably helped me the most, and it's this simple, oft quoted passage from Zig Ziglar:
You can get anything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.
That's been my personal credo since I started online in 1997, and I've been fortunate enough to have earned my full-time living online since 1999. It's a philosophy that has endurance.

7 Steps to Freedom II: How to Escape the American Rat Race, in the early 1990's.

    By Benjamin D. Suarez

These were the first books that exposed me to direct mail and mail order. They also helped me start my own mail order business back in the late 80's, out of my bedroom.

When I first got online, in 1995, and realized you could do email marketing for ZERO dollars, I literally couldn't sleep at night. Would lay awake till 2 or 3 am in the morning.

Other than that, I pick up some solid stuff from many marketers that I am able to add to my overall system.

Allen Says, Paul Myers and Jonathan Mizel had probably impacted my online business the most. And I mean in terms of actual dollars earned.

There are others too that I've learned bits and pieces from which I incorporated into my business and saw an increase in profits. Dan Kennedy, Gary Halbert, John Carlton, Harlan Kilstein, Kenrick Cleveland, John Reese, too many to list really. There are so many little bits of wisdom out there that when applied can make a huge difference to your bottom line.

You don't see the value because, most likely, you have such tunnel vision
when it comes to business that it's difficult to see past the "make money
      online" niche.

So let's take Travis Sago's Bum Marketing Method, which you can actually
learn for free from his site.

The simplistic approach is like this.

      1. Find a niche that has a problem in need of a solution, such as health,
debt relief, self improvement and so on.

      2. Find or create a product associated with that niche to sell to people.

      3. Write articles about the problems in the niche and submit them to
article directories, using a call to action resource box to get people to
your landing page where you pitch the offer.

As you can see, this has NOTHING to do with selling "how to make money
online" products. It is selling solutions to countless problems using a
      very effective AND free method.

Now, you can get a lot more involved with the method itself, such as
branching off into list building and even offering bonus incentives for
      people to buy from YOU.

But NONE of this has ANYTHING to do with "making money online."

You need to see past the blinders that you have on and realize that
there are more ways to make a living online than just to sell "how to make
      money" products.

If you need proof of this, just look at sites like Amazon dot com.

Most Information products hold value at some level, the biggest problem is like money itself a report is inert.

A report itself can not think, it can not act, it can not initiate or commence a workable business plan, in reality any report can not do anything. Only you can do that.

Many people buy a report thinking that this is the one that will make me rich, it does not, so they buy another one and surly this one will make them rich.

The story goes on and on, then there come a time when the penny drops for some where they see every report they ever purchased held at least one key to success and the missing link was that they themselves simply did not turn the key to the on position and as a result nothing was ever started and the mind numbing circle of buying the next money making ebook continued.

I bought a small $19.95 mail order product from Jeff Paul over a dozen years ago called, "How to Make $4,000 Per Day Working From Your Kitchen Table in Your Underwear." The backend was a $500 deal. I also picked that up and set about following the instructions. Within 12 months we were doing six figures from home via direct response marketing. Later we migrated to the internet and started a custom hosting business that did multiple six-figures within 2 years.

I always jump into these things late. Anyway, as per usual, I have a completely different opinion than nearly everybody.

Over the past few months I've gotten to know a lot of people - people who make so much money it quite literally blows my mind.

These people make what Frank Kern, John Reese, etc look like nothing.

They all have one thing in common. They all started the same way. They started with little to no knowledge, they just kept trying, tracking, testing, and re-peating until they finally got it.

They knew PPC involved paying for clicks - nothing else. But since they didn't bother going to forums, buying products, etc they had no other choice but test, track, and keep trying and let me tell you that they'll tell you it was the best choice they've ever made.

We all have a fear of jumping into something unprepared. Jumping into something and failing - but truth be told we are all going to fail when we jump into a certain area a few times because no real e-book can prepare you for the random twists and turns your online journey takes.

Clearly I'm not one of those guys who started off, right out of the gate, testing, tracking, and trying. My post count is really getting up there - but I'll be the first to agree that when you get your ass off of every forum you partake in you will succeed.

I have bought my fair share of products - and some have genuinely helped in at least helping me to understand what certain things are. (SEO, PPV, etc, etc.)

But I've also talked, and chuckled with a few so called "gurus" about the sheeple who buy their latest $97 product packed full of useless, old, regurgitated, methods. Like it or not this is the reality of the situation - want to know why 99% fail? Because the information is terrible. And in the information age where information is the single most valuable commodity that is something you desperately need.

The guru's have really carved out the internet marketing niche as if it's something totally ground breaking. Is it? Of course. But why SO many people fail is because they fail to understand the fundamentals. They fail to understand marketing at it's finest.

Everyone needs to understand what turns the brick and mortar world round and how they can apply it online - that is how you can succeed. (Buy Dan Kennedy stuff.)

It seems everyday we hear, "Oh this is the best time to jump into internet marketing!" but guess what it isn't at all. Traffic sources dying, tighter regulation, algorithm changes, etc it all adds up to a lot of headaches and if you don't treat what you do like a business, if you don't re-invest and market and work your ass off like you would offline you're going to fail.

Relying on one thing is dangerous. Imagine starting to bank $300/day profit on Adwords, which seemed like all the money in the world, and then having Google slap re-bills to s.hit - welcome to the fall.

All it takes is one new rule to kill your "stable" income when you rely on making your income from simply another company (Google).

    To answer the original question:

    - I spend 70 bucks on UAW every month.

    - I spend 30 on this blog commenting thing that's hosted online I pay someone overseas to do every now and then. (Could go without it as it's not that effective but whatever.)

    - I spend, much more then I'd like to publicly admit, on outsourcing. Everything from link wheels to wiki link wheels to copy for some landing pages.

These are my basics. I'm not subscribed to any newsletters anymore, no e-books, membership sites, etc. All the money I pay makes me money back - that's what the key is.

People will knock what I've said. Some may say you need to understand the basics - and that's fair enough. Buy a few e-books telling you what the area you're interested in involves. But after that, after you understand the core, do your own thing test, track, and keep trying. (You'll learn so much more that way.)

If someone making serious money wants to step forward and tell me that buying the latest over hyped guru product was the best choice they've every made then be my guest.

    ...

On a side note this is also something I've been thinking about. (And Andy's original post just reminded me of it.)

So many people get wound up in the online world and forget about the offline world. Like it or not we are all paid in USD, unless you're in EU based CPA networks, and like it or not the United States is in some real trouble.

Don't want to make this a political thread - but when we have so many liberal laws coming through, when we have the government tightening it's grip on everything and trying to control the forces of the free market, bad things will happen.

And the implications of this affect all of us. (Where ever you live.)

Chances are, if your like the average IM'er, you don't spend all your money. You recognize that traffic sources die, you know you can go from making a few million a month to nothing with one rule change.

Sitting on currency is dangerous and what is even more dangerous is not knowing how volatile it can be. Not here to give any advice, just saying think about the money you're sitting on and where it should be placed.

I enjoy coming to the forum - I'm not knocking it. I wouldn't have taken the past half an hour of Christmas to write this if I didn't care about this forum, whether I like it or not without meeting people when I first started like Ron Douglas I would've given up long ago. But what people have to realize is that methods come and go, fundamentals like SEO or PPC stay.

Understand the fundamentals and success will come easy. Test, track, and keep trying and one day you'll look at your Clickbank, CPA, whatever account and you'll see money and that'll be all the motivation you need to keep on going.

These are not the only products that have made me money. But they are the ones that made me the MOST money. They are all "high ticket" (above the $1,000 price tag). My answers:

Armand Morin's AM2: while not strictly a "product", this is the thing that has made me the most money. High quality info, top notch customer service.

Alex Mandossian's Teleseminar Secrets: this enabled me to experience my first "big day" in product sales. Again... High quality info, top notch customer service.

Frank Kern's Mass Control (and Mass Control Monthly):I literally heard one statement in this course (the very first edition, before the fancy DVD's and all) that multiplied my copywritiing fees by a factor of FIVE. I kid you not. Even Frank was amazed when I told him what I was getting paid... especially when I told him it was only because I was following HIS advice.

Jeff Walker's Product Launch Formula: another game-changer for me. This has made me... um... a LOT of money. It's also opened lots of doors for me.

DISCLAIMER: all of the above guys are my clients for copywriting services. BUT. Not a single ONE of them was my client when I got their products. I paid for them, just like everyone else. Only LATER did any of them become my client.

Low Ticket Products That Have Made Me Lots Of Money

You don't have to spend lots of money to make money. You just have to be willing to do the work! Here are two VERY low priced products that have also helped me make lots of money:

Bob Bly's Secrets of a Freelance Writer: This book is about $10 on Amazon. But it's what actually got me started as a copywriter. I read it while sitting in the frozen wastelands of Alaska, at a giant Border's bookstore, huddled over a hot mocha. I slammed the book shut, and said "I can do that!" Then I promptly bought the book, and went about actually doing what it said. Changed my life.

Dan Kennedy's No BS Marketing Newsletter: This one is about $40 per month, and every month contains more money-making wisdom than most $500 "courses". In my mind, this is required reading for our industry.

        Now go and be prosperous.

I haven't yet bought an information product or course that I could say has really worked super well for me. I've pulled out some handy bits and pieces but nothing to write home about. The really effective info products are tricky to find, with every person's experience level and goals being so different.

What has worked well for me has been more practical purchases. Big Mike's SocialBot has made money for me, as every site I have applied it to has made good affiliate commission and then been flipped for a good amount. The other item that falls into this category is the paid version of OnlyWire. I use both in tandem and results have been great.

I have also purchased some modules from the WP Robot suite, and those have made commissions for me also.

Apart from that, as has been said already, the War Room is the best set of information I have purchased access to, when measured by how much I have earned from it.

Jim Edwards - purchased his 7-Day ebook in 2003/04 as one of my first IM info-products. Thought it was marginal at first, when it said things like "For today, just write!". Anyway, I used that combined with some prior knowledge that I had and developed my first ebook that is still selling today.

Jimmy D. Brown - I followed Membernaire to a tee and it makes me great month every month.

Jason Fladlien - used his 48 hour report product to write a report that sells today.

From what I see, its all about your tools not buying multiple products. The basics are traffic>> landing page>> offer for affiliates or building a high traffic website with content. But it really comes down to having the best tools for whatever it is your want to do to make you money, and of course trying things and taking action.

It was not anyone's stuff that made me money.

I made a fortune becase I had an offline business that was making money and I moved it online many years ago. Then I sold it.

For the last few years I do my own products, both digital and physical.

But there was no "system" or stuff that has made me money.

It is understanding marketing as well as seeing opportunity and acting on it.

However there are definetly people who have influenced me.

Bill Myers was a huge influence, but I did not sell his products.

Ironically the biggest influence was a free seminar that I went to for a place that I think was called "Stores Online" or something like that.

It was day long seminar and out of it I got one fantastic idea from it. I never signed up or believed their pitch...

But that one idea is one of the foundations of my IM business model.

I do not sell affiliate products or have affiliates for my product.

I have however had people design affiliate sites for others, just so I could help them out. But the product they were trying to market was their idea, not mine.

You will make more money controlling your product, in my opinion.

But what works for me, may not work for you.

    Wish you all the best.

Great thread Andy. All too often products are sold, there's artificial scarcity, and the program is closed before anyone can come forward to say if they've made money or not.

XRay Domination stands out for me. Cost about $2500 but has returned 100x that to the bottom line.

A recent purchase, Linking Loophole is demonstrably making me money by single-handedly improving the SEO positions of numerous websites.

Products I use all the time, and thus are something I consider to indirectly be making me money, include SubmitEaze and a couple Incansoft Titles: GFX Writer and RSSBot.

Connecting income to a specific product can sometimes be difficult - as compared to building up general knowledge. The best general knowledge I've read is from Allen Says, Terry Dean, Frank Kern, and Dan Kennedy.

Using Kevin Riley's Low Hanging Fruit I made my first sale.

I've made money using the Conduit Method coupled with the HTML templates from Chris Rempel.

Earnt with Jimmy D Brown's Short Report Profits then his Affiliatenaire ($27 monthly) got me started with affiliate bloging but Jason Parker's 'Speed Affiliate Marketing' took it to another level again.

All are relatively low-ticket items (or were when I bought them - Speed Affiliate Marketing has rocketed in price).

Now that I have systems in place just watching top affiliates like Jit Uppal and seeing what others do, being curious helps me more than anything else.

        I agree/disagree.

Agree as far as marketing fundamentals specific to internet marketing and the like (found in the War Room for example).

Disagree as far as using physiology and marketing to the herd mind (about 80% of Frank Kern's model) which has been marketing principals long before the internet even existed.

I would say that two people I have learned from and personally made money from their products are Travis Sago and Casey Gentles. The ironic thing is that I did not pay money for either of these products, they were both free reports for getting on their lists. I am still fairly new to IM, making a couple hundreds monthly. Howevever, I am confident that I will crack the four figures per month barrier very soon.

Ok, gotta throw my 2 cents in too.

For me, I've done a lot of the course/wso and such. I wanted a well rounded education and I find that a lot of warriors do have something to give.

But what was the best of the best?

Just taking action! I am making on average about $50 per day in multiple revenue streams and I'm going to be bumping that into overdrive this year to make $500 per day.

Won't take much. I've tried various things and found a few things, by simply taking action, that have proven to me that I can earn $500 per day without breaking a sweat!

So, there is no one course for me. It's been the university of internet marketing and a ton of risk taking!

So, no self promotion on the go, just a good old testimonial.
(Even removed my sig line as proof!)

Cheers and good luck to all!!

A couple of years ago when I was just starting to dabble in IM I came across BANS (Build A Niche Store). $97 was a huge investment for me back then, put it has paid off tremendously. I don't build ebay aff sites anymore because EPN sucks, but those sites I built continue to bring in cash each and every month... for now. I probably just jinxed myself ;-p

More recently, and without sounding too spammy because they are going through a relaunch of their product and I am promoting it as an affiliate, is Niche Blueprint. I bought the course in Jan. 2009 and I built successful ecommerce stores following their program.

Other than that, reading XFactors adsense thread on this forum has also opened a couple more doors for me and boosted my adsense income. That is probably the most informative thread I have ever read. It has a permanent spot in my FireFox bookmarks ;-)

A lot of infoproducts, services, and software have made me money. I'm going to list the top few since they have accounted for more than half my profits:

Frank Kern and Ed Dale's Underachiever Course - No longer on the market, but I've added my own twists to it. I went DEEEEEP with this bad boy and scaled it up like a mo'fo.

John Reese's original Traffic Secrets - I ran with this one when it first came out and quadrupled my income that year.

Perry Marshall's Adwords Course - Coupled with Traffic Secrets, it sent my PPC ROI through the roof. The most recent version that recently came out is a must read for anyone thinking of jumping into Google Adwords or PPC marketing.

More recently, Don & Jeremy's CPA Marketer's Bootcamp - Don't let it's simplicity fool you, it's a formula that works. I've got a fulltime VA that is dedicated to what is covered in that bootcamp.

I've made it a point not to buy that many infoproducts anymore other than a WSO here and there since my businesses have a very solid foundation already. Though I'm willing to admit that it's tough to resist some of the new stuff that's come out.

There are many products that in an indirect way that have made me money but two things I must point out.

I read a lot of stuff in this forum and in print and on occasion will buy an eBook from a WSO but the bottom line is no specific system in any ebook has worked for my but my ability to assimilate everything from every info source is what has made me money. The warrior forum and war room being the two most influential sources.

More important in the last 2 years is buying and using tools and fully understanding the full potential of each tool to maximize my online marketing efforts. No one software tool is a magic bullet but when combined they are very very effective. Not all tools are purchased or software ... many are just well thought out systems created to leverage my time or ones that have been proven to work for marketers over the years.

To a certain extent most of what I've bought has taught me how to make money but didn't all make me very much. I believe the quality of products is the cause of this, many are just thrown together in order to make the person money which sucks because most of the products end up coming out looking the same.

Also many people have no idea how to teach judging by their style. An excellent recent example was Blog Payback, what a load of hypnotic crap that was. By hypnotic, I mean, the guy that created the produt either knew that the vast amount of crap in the product would make it worth it when it was really only way too much information. It could have been made a lot easier.

And to finalize that.. A lot of the crap people sell could be made a lot easier than what they make it but as I say "most do not know how to teach". They just think they do.

I have purchased a few "make money" products in the past, but I can't say any of them were directly responsible for any portion of my income. I can say that I "cherry picked" a few good tips here and there though.

I don't buy them anymore, but I occasionally will grab a "make money method" WSO if it's from a respected marketer that does the exact same things I do (out of curiousity and/or to pick up a tip or two).

I have these forums, War Room, and a network of peers to get questions answered if I need them.

I will buy digital products that I KNOW will help my business in general though.

For instance, I bought a WSO that provided techniques on how to set up some headache-inducing php stuff. It was actually something I could have figured out myself, but it came with templates and a video that probably saved me 3 or 4 hours for $17. That kind of info I'll buy any time. It's not a "method to make money", but it's something that helped me add value to my business and saved me time (which actually = money in the long run). I knew exactly what it was, and that I needed it though, so making the decision to buy it was easy.

Mostly exaggeration. Your best underground trainers if you can find them are "underground" and earn money from actually using Internet Marketing methods that work - but these guys are the hardest "gurus" to find.

Anybody in the internet marketing niche who doesn't buy an insane amount of products is crazy. How to do you plan to congruently sell information yourself if you're so tight fisted about buying it?

Almost every product I purchase makes me some money because I follow the right plan to act on it, and have a good sense about WHAT to purchase and WHEN to purchase it.

Example: I just bought a WSO the other day on how to make money putting books on amazon. Right after I bought it, my dad calls me up - he's got an iphone app he got developed and wants to market it... (he teaches advanced placement economics, you pass the test, you get a college credit while still in high school, his app helps students study...)

I tell him let's try putting a book on amazon as a lead generator to drive them to a website promoing his app. I bill him at my rate of $250 an hour and within an hour he sends me some content to put in the book, and I'm following the WSO to a "T".

I'm now making about $500 in less than 2 hours doing something which I just learned about like 4 hours previously!

Okay, here's another example - about a year or so ago, I was talking to Ryan Deiss at a seminar. He casually mentions to me something about targeting through google adwords straight to gmail - I think he just mentions thoughts stringing at the time, I'm not even sure if they were doing it.

Well it was a good idea - so I go home and implement it immediately and I discover on my own free will to bid on the ican spam stuff. I put it in a product like 8 months ago, and now Ryan JUST releases his product today - so I made money directly from an offhand 3 minutes conversation at a seminar.

Another time at a seminar I HELD with Mary Wilhite, Perry Belcher spoke out. Now keep in mind this is my own seminar - but I'm in the audience taking notes - Perry had just got done with that HUGE twitter launch, and our even was the first he was speaking at.

He gives a tip about making money with social media that I implement AT THE HOTEL that night and started making money from.

I have Gary Bencievenga's "only 100" seminar which is insanely expensive - the other week I'm reading it and it shows a specific type of headline and opening I hadn't considered before.

We implement it immediately that day into a split test and it outpulls our long standing control 14 to 8. Thousands of dollars are immediately realized on the front end and back end because it.

The other day I'm outside in my garage smoking a cigarette and reading the email launch campaigns in Mass Control 2.0.

I immediately get a huge insight on the psychology of those launches, go in and create 4 "money magnets" back to back in the span of three hours that we've now used in our autoresponder follow ups to recruit affiliates, which has sent our traffic skyrocketing.

One time I'm at an Armand Morin event last year, and he reveals this awesome technique to get adwords clicks for a few pennies. Right at the seminar borrowing someone else's laptop I implement the technique and put 500 optins on a list in 2 days for basically 20 cents an opt in (that's insanely cheap, btw!)

There's about 200 more examples I could give you - the key instruction is conditioning yourself to immediately act on a good idea.

See, I LOVE buying info products - because they almost always make me more money than whatever it cost to purchase them.

ONE LAST EXAMPLE - I just bought a pool table for my basement. I bought a book off amazon on billiards. I read it for a half hour, immediately implement the points about cut shots, the 30 degree rule, the 90 degree role and stance and doubled my skill in pool by the next day.

It's EASY to blame the merchant and NOT yourself. Honestly, I could take a very AVERAGE info product and gleam one thing from it I could implement to make the cost of that info product back.

      It's not the product - it's you.

Plus - what the hell are you writing off on taxes if you aren't buying a lot of info products? It's practically free for me to buy products anyway because I need all the write offs I can get.

    Nothing... Nothing at all.

There is no product that I can point to that has made me money.

There is only one quote, and I don't even remember who said it.

"Successful people are successful because they have developed the habit of doing what unsuccessful people don't want to do."

I just started to do what I had been afraid of doing all along, building a squeeze page and a list. Now I do only 3 things, drive traffic to my page (using a number of different techniques), create products, and market those products to my list.

That having been said, I think it is possible that no one can point to a single product that made them money. I still buy products and I look for just one thing that I can add to my business model. If I can do that, then that product has made me money.

The product I have purchased and actually implemented have made me money. I think most peoples problem is buying and not following through. Most people want to spend $50 and have it run autopilot making them a full time income. Those that have that sentiment are flat out lazy and will never be successful until they change their attitude.

    Hi all,

This is a great forum. I'll be posting here a lot in future.

Anyway, to answer the question, every piece of software I've ever written and put up for sale has always sold a few copies. Even rubbish little JavaScripts sell a few copies now and then. I found a nice niche selling software developer tools at $30 - $70 a go. To date I've almost hit $100,000 in software sales since 2002. That's been a nice 2nd income.

The good thing about having my own software range is that I've got 1000's of backlinks from software download sites, which helps any other IM ventures I choose to launch.

I've also sold a few copies of other people's software using affiliate sales. Creating pages that review the software works well. The problem is finding decent software to review that has a high sales price and hence good commission - to be brutally honest 95% of affiliateable shareware is total junk.

Adsense earns me enough to pay for my website hosting, but nothing more.

Amazon associates has been pretty rubbish.

I'm a bit fed up with software now, so I'm looking to expand into other areas. I've just written my first eBook and I'm currently tinkering with Hubpages to see if writing about stuff can earn cash.

    Good luck all!

Along the lines of Cesar's post, probably the one product I've purchased that actually worked for me "right out of the box" was a poorly constructed, typo filled eBook called "Spacebankers" by Ryan Moran, which was about making money on MySpace through affiliate links (before it got REALLY spammy and MySpace started tightening their TOS). I think it was something like $30 a few years ago.

It took me all of a couple hours to read, and within another few hours I had implemented what I was "taught" in the eBook. I tweaked a few things, added some of my own creative genius, but followed the basic skeletal system. I continued this "system" over the next 30 days. Within 4 days of setting up profiles, I had made $500 in ClickBank commissions. Over the next few weeks I brought in a total of about $1200. Starting from scratch, with a lack-luster eBook written by a 21 year-old college student as my guide.

The only major problem was it wasn't something you could really put on auto-pilot, so when I was without an Internet connection for the next several months everything fell apart, and by the time I got back to it I didn't find the headaches of MySpace to be worth it. But it worked, at least at first. I'd be curious to see if it could still work now.

But this "cheap" eBook by a young frat kid put me in alignment to make a decent amount of fast money, a lot easier than many of the $77+ products I've purchased and attempted to learn from.

Sorry if I'm being too general here but I saw this myself. antique's, old items, and "stuff" sells on ebay. I know of hundreds of thousands that have been made by M A N Y. Nobody is going to disagree about that. All you have to do is get it up there consistently, develop a good looking auction template and be consistent. Once you develop a following keep the pace. Some people sell liquidations, You can find them right on ebay (buy for a buck sell for 15.00), some people arbitrage buy something low on ebay fix it up, or not, sell it higher. People are still pushing digital stuff like crazy on cd. You want money thats still the way to go it doesn't take very long to get known. You just have to deal with a few loony bins but ya know they're everywhere lol. As far as work is concerned its pretty easy once you get in the swing. Of course it doesn't compete with that kind of success spazz896 jimminy crickets

    - Alex Goad's Google Conquest 90 day challenge, made me some good money (thanks Brian) until I got careless and my blogs went rigth to the google sand box (from page 1 to page 233216500316)...
    - Day Job Killer - I made a couple of hundreds on profit until google slap - then I quit PPC for good
    - Michael Jones's Affiliate Code - I've made 10 sales in three weeks using it so far $970
    - Sean Clark's ADE Resellers-Heaven - I've made some sales (50) so far $500 (spend $200 on ads).
    - TAP funnel profit - 4 weeks implementing it and I have about 700 followers and made $200 in sales (4 sales of $50).
    - Copy and past system - made 1 sale $12 (and spend $100 on ads)
    - Adsense ready sites - $1,08!!!

Not nearly enough to make me quit my job, but in six month I think is a good start.

In the beginning you need some kind of IM foundation... for me it was John Reese's Traffic Secrets, it showed me how all the pieces can fit together. Through trial and error I created an non IM info product that consistently makes money.

I have spent other money on "complete systems" and been underwhelmed.

At this point I look for "tools" and "services" that solve specific problems. I am interested in things that make me more productive.

I find them to make me more money than the theoretical stuff..... or latest " IM ... crusher.. exploder...dominator....( insert your favorite superlative here) that is going to have the bank begging me to stop because they have no more room for all the cash I am shoveling into my account.

We (my business partner and I) started out with James Martell many years ago before we knew anything about internet marketing. He's an excellent teacher and the method was simple to follow. At the time, we were caught up in our 9 to 5 jobs and didn't really get into it on a serious basis so although we made money, it wasn't enough for us to leave our full time jobs.

It was only in the past year or so that we started to take it a little more seriously and it has paid off. James Martell has a slightly different model today than what we started on and I must admit I prefer the older method which to me is easier to follow and less work.

I think though that it wasn't just the James Martell method that took us to where we are today. We have purchased a lot of other ebooks and membership courses over the years and each has provided a little more info to help us on the way.

As a result we now have our own model that we follow and it works extremely well.

When it comes down to it, most methods work...it's just a matter of sticking to it.

When I first started IM - I bought into a lot of TimG's ebooks (small time adsense publisher). I also bought a few generic SEO books, can't remember what their called but their probably free by now. I applied all the techniques and worked really hard for about 1.5-2 years and ended up making $8-10k per month in adsense alone and still do.

Recently though, I've branched out into CPA and Clickbank and have made a lot of money - a lot more than I've ever made with adsense. I didn't buy any products to learn about those, just used the same adsense site tactics to my cpa/cb sites and things took off.

I'm sure I've bought info products that added to my knowledge over time, but nothing else got me going until I applied a lot of TimG's old techniques - not sure if they still work today though - it's gotten a lot more competitive.

    Interesting post guys.

The only product I have bought is Mike Dillards Magnetic Sponsoring. It's a good ebook but to be honest, I knew most of it anyway so it certainly hasn't made me money but it doesn't mean I don't value the product.

My opportunity makes me money. I wouldn't do it otherwise!

And no, I don't have a sob story of how I came from nothing, because I didn't. I sold my business last year and applied my marketing background to my current opportunity and it works very well.

That said there are some great products out there, with some big names and I know that a lot of people do find them useful.

But how can you honestly tell if they make you money unless you are an affiliate and make commissions from them?
