Christmas Day Observations

This year I said that I'd keep off the computer and the forum etc on Christmas Day. Then I got out of the bath to find my husband checking his e-mail on the laptop, younger daughter playing games on the downstairs PC, and that oldest daughter has gone out with a friend for an hour - after arranging a meeting on Facebook. If you can't beat 'em, join em...

I've just been looking through stats on today's activity so far, and mostly found what I'd expected. What surprised me (and made me a bit sad too) was a marked increase in activity on my 'ex back' site. I'm in this niche more by accident than design as it doesn't exactly do a lot for me, but I'll try to make an effort to see that those who use the site have a lot more help available to them this time next year, maybe a few diversions too. Not sure yet, but it's made me think.

How's everyone else doing? Any IM-related observations to report? Too full of turkey to care, or just too full of Christmas spirits to type?

Haven't really checked my traffic stats, but sold a niche blogging treasure site and a flip ace ebook, so someone is out there.

I'd been painting my nails when I made the first post and reached for the pot of nail polish afterwards to do the second coat, not realizing that I hadn't screwed the top on properly. Suddenly I'm holding the top in my hand while the bottle is bouncing off the desk, leaving a trail of nail polish up the cream curtains next to it (my curtains, not a problem) and landing upturned in a puddle of nail polish on the cream carpet. The landlord's cream carpet. Eek.

I have managed to reduce it from a thick blob of dark gothic purple (very festive, I know) to a reddish-lilac stain, and can report that in the process, several of someone else's carpet cleaning and stain removal sites saw a flurry of Christmas Day activity. Sigh...

lol ... not really funny, I know, but just shows how sites will get some traffic on Christmas.

Ive noticed some people are buying higher priced items. Guess it might be a Christmas present.

Besides that, everything else looks a little slower.

    Hello Diana,

Things are running at half speed and less, but it is early and the stores are closed.

Tomorrow is a big shopping day ... so I expect some traffic after lunch time, when folks finish opening presents.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

My Christmas day was a day off from too much internet surfing and IM learning. Yet when I got home, in an instant, I found myself checking Warriom Forum.. WF, you're a bad medicine! Merry Christmas Warriors!

Well I noticed about 30-40% decrease in traffic on all my money sites.

This is especially boring since I personally don't care about Christmas at all.

    Merry Xmas everyone!

I couldn't stay away from checking my stats and although they're down they are still higher than I expected. Which pleased me so much I took advantage of Suzanne's Christmas Day extra discount on her Flip Ace WSO :-)

I'm quitting for the day now to catch up with Big Mike on the Amstel. And it seems there's a lot of catching up to do - he can't remember where he lives! Quote "Merry Christmas from Greeve".

So it's "Merry Christmas from Greeve" and Merry Christmas from Greaves,

    Nigel

I left him. He sounds sad. I could call, but it ain't gonna change the outcome.

Traffic to most of my sites is about the same. But sales, click-throughs, and the like are way down. I have gotten a few dozen emails for post-holiday sales; not from IMers but from regular brick and mortar businesses.

On a side note: there's snow on the ground for Christmas in my part of Texas for the first time in 83 years.

    Diana,

It's just like any other day, traffic and sales wise (.... and NO that doesn't mean zero :p )

Seems like the internet stops for no man and no turkey.

And the warrior forum seems to be no slower on 25th either - however I can smugly say I stayed offline the whole day.

Well, the verdict is in. Didn't bother checking traffic stats for my sites, as I didn't expect much traffic to most of them. However, I did run a flip ace sale in the wso section and it did really well. Sold more copies of it on Christmas than on any other single day.

Yeah, Xmas has all "features" of other ordinary days. Except some holiday feelings, of course.

Wouldn`t be surprised if even my turkey checks her emails before ... the "event".
That`s the spirit of time, I guess.

I wasn't able to resist the siren call of the internet myself, and checked in on my WSO stats on and off. While there was very little traffic (I didn't feel like bumping my WSOs, so it wasn't even on the first 3 pages), I was surprisingly able to get a couple of sales over the holiday. I guess some people must have just searched my offers out, since I wasn't actively promoting them - not a bad thing, it just goes to show that people do buy things, even on Christmas day!

My best day ever was one christmas but I was promoting dating sites on Yahoo chat. This was also years ago. I guess anyone who's in those lonely hearts chats on christmas is going to be pretty much ready to pay to find a mate. I think I raked in around $1300.

I managed to go the whole of Christmas Day without switching on my computer, which was some achievement for me, and was pleased to turn it on today to see several sales and some Adsense earnings that were much higher than usual.

Can't complain, although I have a fellow blogger to thank for that as they recommended my latest blog post to their readers, which has resulted in a big surge of traffic.

I managed to keep away from the computer for the whole of Xmas day, but was surprised to login this morning to find 100 new emails in my inbox and quite a few sales.

Most of my website traffic seemed to be around 40-50% less than normal

    Cheers,
    Suzanne

Traffic was down, sales were down, as expected.
