Can You Use WSOs to Get Subscribers to Your List?

I was wondering if anyone has tried using WSOs to get subscribers to their lists.

I have a free ecourse and I'd like to improve it. However, I don't have enough subscribers to get a nice set of data.

I'd like to post a WSO offering this for free and seeing what happens.

Is this ethical or does it violate forum etiquette?

    Take a look at the WSO forum. It's not uncommon for Warriors to run free WSOs and require an opt-in to get the item.

    It's all about the offer.

    Regardless of what people say, in my experiences, most "free" reports or products are immediately classified as junk by your average visitor, especially people used to seeing it, such as warriors.

    A lot of is just the mindset of what free has become. "Free reports" are usually just hype filled letters with theory filled with affiliate links. "Free Guides" are usually short, vague, and are there just to get you onto a list.

    In my experience, in the IM niche, people are starting to browse over the word free, or just assume its free because of a catch. You get what you pay for right?

    On my squeeze pages for example, I get a higher opt in rate if I don't use the word free. If I say "limited offer", "sneak preview", "early access", "sample, trial" anything like that.

      My FREE WSO went on for over a month with fantastic success... A few thousand subscribers in the process and most of them turned around and bought the paid for product that I promoted off the site.

      The real trick is to have a free report so unbelievable and refreshing that people talk about it, leave you a testimonial and turn around and buy even more of your great products...

    Why wouldn't it be ethical my friend?

    I've seen a lot of people giving out free reports in the WSO section to increase their subscriber list and get feedback on their products - it's a win-win situation for both parties.

    As long as you are offering an original report of good quality there's no reason to be worried, so go ahead
