is it just me or does there seem to be a flood of free WSOs coming to the site? about a month and a half ago I signed up for warriorplus alerts to get notified of free ones, but recently it has become ridiculous, a few days ago I got 57 alerts regarding free WSOs in 1 day! I know a marketer on the forum recently released a product mentioning free WSOs as a list building tactic, but surely when there are THIS many people doing it it is losing it's affectiveness?

what are your thoughts?

I just did a free WSO as a way of giving back to the forum.

Timing. Look into the value of these WSO, free seldom mean free.

      With a few exceptions...

Free WSO's are done to do nothing more than to build someones list.

There might be a new launch coming up so they are trying to build a targeted list to pitch to during that launch.

Maybe they are brand new and want to get a list going?

More significantly though, is the amount of big products out there in the main stream telling people to come to the warrior forum to run a free WSO to build their list.

I try not to browse the WSO forum too much, it's all too tempting to spend money there :p Seriously though, I maybe have a look in once or twice a day. Most of the free WSO's I have got have been great and have offered fantastic value. I don't mind being on lists as a result - if I don't like what I am being sent I can easily unsubscribe. It seems there has been an increase in free WSO's from what I have seen recently, but I don't see much wrong with it. There's always going to be a LOT of paid ones too

Well, I suppose that it very much depends on the contents of the WSO.

As you mentioned, many Warriors put forth free WSOs to build a mailing list and offer valuable information or subscriptions as a 'tease' to get people to sign-up. If the information offered truly IS valuable, I think that it's a win-win for everyone concerned.

As my brother likes to say, "If It's Free, I want Two!"

But, if the WSO is only providing recycled "crap" that one could find after three seconds of a Google search, then no, it has no business becoming a WSO in the first place.

I am on several email lists that provide truly valuable tips & tricks and I cherish my subscriptions to these lists.

The ones that turn into "Buy My Affiliate Offer of the Day Now!" get unsubscribed to in a hurry!

What better way to see which lists perform and which are bogus than to take advantage of free offers on the greatest IM forum in the world - the Warrior Forum!

    My two Kopecs.

    Regards,

A free WSO can be a good way to build a good solid reputation. If you do it right and offer real value it is a good way to build trust.
