Want a GMAIL account instead of a GOOGLEMAIL account? Here's how :)

I litterally just managed to pull this off, so I will share it with you.

If you didn't already know, if you live in the UK or Germany and you sign up to Gmail, you get given a GoogleMail domain instead.

If your like me and you would prefer Gmail as a suffix instead of the ugly looking GoogleMail suffix then there is a way arround it.

All you have to do is this:

1) Get hold of "TOR". It's free and it allows you to browse the net annoymously. (google it).

2) Set it up and goto Google(dot)com. Instead of going to the Google of your country you will goto a forgeign google page.

3) Use TOR to "change your identity" simply by clicking the button labeled "change your indentity" and refresh the page. Do this as many times as it takes until you load a Google page which ISN'T English or German.

4) Goto Gmail.com and sign up your nice new gmail.

Enjoy

For a long time I used to type 'Googlemail' but one time I tried typing 'gmail' instead...and
it worked. Not just with Google but nearly every other site as well.

    They are the same thing.

Yes it is true that somebody can send you an email with the gmail suffix and it will arrive in your googlemail inbox, but when you send an email back it will show your email as googlemail.

If you do it my way, it will always be gmail. which in my opinion looks so much better.

Well, you could just set the reply from address to be gmail if I'm not mistaken.

As far as looks, people wont see either if you use a name on your account but it would effect whitelisting.

Instead of downloading TOR, just use a US based browser proxy.
