What to Do With These 10 Keywords?

Hi fellow warriors,

This is going to be long. So bear with me.

Let me elaborate further. I'm actually just getting my feet wet setting up Google Sniper type of sites. So far I have 2 and another one on the way. However, I can't seem to rank for the main keyword. Now this is a moderately searched keyword with less than 10k competition in quotes.

Note: the first two sites are already indexed in Google and these are relatively new sites. I have done no extensive backlinking yet. Still trying to figure out the best way to move forward.

While I was doing my keyword research, I came across about 10 keywords with exact search of at least 1500 per keyword per month with less than 10k competition in quotes.

There is a debate on whether you should look for searches with phrase or exact match. Let's just say I came across 2 guides that practise the exact match searches. So I'm just following along.

Oh and by the way, I used the free version of Market Samurai's keyword tool to drill down further to get these low hanging keywords. However, whether they convert or not is another matter.

I then plug these keywords into Traffic Travis (free version) to check the level of competition. And I think these keywords that I found are low competition ones. I try to find ones where I can get one of the top 5 positions so that I get some of the visitors.

But who am I to say? I'm just a newbie. I'm just trying to move forward. I'm stuck and that's why I'm here asking for help from fellow warriors.

So I got to thinking. I shouldn't leave these keywords on the table. I should do something about it.

Here's a simple calculation for illustration purposes.

10 keywords x 1500 monthly searches = 15000

Assuming I get 1/3 of these monthly searches,

15000/3 = 5000

Assuming that 1% convert into sales,

5000 x 1% = 50 sales

Assuming commission per sale is $20,

50 x $20 = $1000

I'm sure you agree with me that $1000 per month is a lot of money to leave on the table.

So here are 4 options that I came up with and I hope somebody can point me in the right way.

OPTION 1:

Write 10 articles based on the 10 keywords.

Noob question: Should I write traditional keyword based articles or LSI ones? Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Post these articles to my main site.

Do some backlinking. (What type of backlinking? Not too sure...)

Pros: Grow my own site rather than that of someone else's site.

Cons: How do I get these posts to rank for their keywords?

OPTION 2:

Write 10 articles based on the 10 keywords.

Submit these articles to GoArticles with the keywords in anchor text pointing to my main site's landing page.

Noob question: Correct me if I'm wrong. I can get my site to rank for other keywords if I have these other keywords as anchor texts pointing to my site right? Even though I don't have these keywords on my site?

Pros: Piggy back on authority sites to get my articles ranking high in the SERPs. So none or little backlinking to do.

These articles act as backlinks for my site and is therefore pushing my site up the SERPs.

Cons: Building up somebody's site.

I don't have control over my content. One day, the owners of these sites can just delete my account like how Squidoo cleaned up its house recently. And I would have lost my money site.

OPTION 3:

Write 10 articles based on the 10 keywords.

Set up a re-direct domain to point my affiliate link to affiliate site.

Submit these articles to GoArticles with links pointing directly to affiliate site NOT my own site. (Anchor texts may or may not be the keywords. It could be something like Click here...)

Pros: Utilize powerful article directory to push my articles up the SERPs.

I at least used the 10 keywords.

No need for extensive backlinking.

Cons: I'm not helping my main site up the SERPs.

OPTION 4:

Write 10 articles based on the 10 keywords.

Key in these keywords into Google's search engine without the quotes and find the web 2.0 sites ranking in the top 5 positions.

I set up accounts at those sites.

Submit these articles there.

Do some sort of a linkwheel connecting some of these properties together. (A bit hazy on this though.)

Do some backlinking.

Pros: Utilize powerful web 2.0 sites to push my articles or posts up the SERPs.

Utilize powerful web 2.0 sites to push my main site up the SERPs.

A variety of backlinks to my main site.

Cons: Time consuming.

I don't have control over my content. One day, the owners of these sites can just delete my account like how Squidoo cleaned up its house recently. And I would have lost my money site.

Note: As for backlinking, I have an account at The Link Juicer and I intend to add a campaign for my main site and some of these properties. I also use RSSBot and DirectoryBot. And I outsource my social bookmarking.

So as you can see, I'm quite confused on what to do next. Google Sniper sites don't really need to backlink but when you have to, you don't know where to start. Well, at least I don't.

I apologize for this long post but I really do hope that somebody can point me in the right direction.

  • Wow, I impressed you have outline various options. Most people simply do not have any clue, really, so you are a major step a head of the game.

If it were me, I would create one article per keyword and submit the article to Ezine articles or some other article directory first. Once accepted, I would spend some time and spin each article to at least 50% unique and add one of these unique articles to your site. This build out your site. Build back links to these articles on your site.

Then go out and submit all of these spun articles to various blogs, articles directories, etc., and link back to your site with one link and perhaps directly to your affiliate offer with another link. Again you win with backlinks and, perhaps, a few sales.

    • It's all about testing and the faster you can test the faster you'll succeed

A way to jump ahead with your own site is to buy a domain that already
has age, PR and links = Trust in Google's eyes.. Don't start off with a
      freshly bought domain...

  • I will go for the 10 keywords 10 articles and submitting them to Ezine.

This will definitely help you to get backlinks to your main site and you can optimize it properly to get the best out of it.

Indeed you have done quite a bit of research and that is the way to go for success to come. Keep it up and you will see some cash flowing your way.

    • Another option to consider:

Write the ten articles based on those ten keywords and put them on your website. Rewrite those ten articles based on the same keywords and put those in the directories, using anchor text back to your website.

This way you remain in control but you still get backlinks. Technically, you don't even have to rewrite the articles according to some people so that is at your own preference.

  • I would write 10 articles. Don't care if it's one keyword based or LSI. I just use my main keyword in the title, in the first 50 words, once in the body and in the last paragraph.
Usually I don't even have to think if I have used the keyword, they just come naturally.

Put them all on my website.

    Then build backlinks:

    1. Rewrite the articles or write new ones and submit them to article directories. Link back to your site and to some of your other properties or to affiliate offer. Ping the article urls. (pingomatic[dot]com)
    2. Create web 2.0 properties with rewritten articles. Linkwheel: 2 links on each property: one link to your own site, second to other property. Don't close the wheel, that means property A links to property B which links to C which links to D but D doesn't link back to A. D might link maybe back to C. It means that you have a reciprocal links, but that's over dramatized. It's logical that websites on the same subject link to each other so it's natural to google that some sites may have reciprocal links. It's not natural if everything is linked perfectly that every web page (your properties) get the same amount of links and link sources act like a team.
Ping all the properties and submit their RSS feeds(most properties have them) to rss aggregators(Find them easily with google).
    3. Use articlevideorobot(dot)com to turn your articles into videos and submit them to video sites using their built in submission tool or tubemogul(dot)com. Link back to your site in the video description area, and use relevant descriptions and tags.
    4. Social bookmark at least some of your properties and/or videos
    5. Find relevant forums(google:keyword+forum, if that doesn't show up use relevant keyword+forum) comment in the forums with your link in the signature.
    6. Google: keyword+keyword luv and keyword+ comment luv. This way you can find do-follow blogs where you can live you comment with back to your site. Comment on the blog and provide value.
    7. Put a related youtube video on your website.

Important is to realize how Google works and the main thing Google wants is to provide good user experience to their searchers. So if google thinks your website provides good experience to the searcher it will rank it high. That means quality content (on-page SEO) and other webites voting for your websites (backlinks) The more different type of backlinks you have the better. Cause this shows Google that your site is important to larger audience. That's why I included so many different back link sources in my plan. Probably you don't need to do so much promotion.

That's a lot to do, and of course there's a lot more you could do, but the results can last for years. But to avoid wasting your time in case your niche isn't just converting you can either try the niche out with ppc, which I don't recommend to a newbie or put up a sniper site after another and not worry about the promotion, then when you have bunch of these, look for the ones that have bigger earnings or higher rankings and promote these. If you put up lots of sites, I'm sure some of them do fine. More trial equals more possibility for success.

P.S. As Google is starting to put more attention to real time search I suggest you create a twitter account for that niche and tweet with your keywords and link to your website or offer. I have seen tweets ranking pretty high on search results lately. On high competitive niches they change all the time and you maybe on the first page of google for only couple of seconds. But as you seem to be in a relatively low competition niche your tweet probably stays there as so called "sleeper" cause no one else is tweeting about the same thing. Just a simple and fast thing you could try

    Wish you great success,

    • Wow type-m,

Thanks for that long reply. That's a lot of stuff to do. I don't mean no disrespect but I can't focus long enough and do soo many things that may take a few months and not see any sort of positive results back. I'm looking for something simple to implement. That's why stuff like GSniper and StevenR's products are what I prefer. It's just that sometimes I get stuck somewhere and I don't know what to do.

But thanks. Your reply did open my mind up to a whole other possibility out there.

  • You're welcome Lydia.

There are of course softwares that can help you do all that, but not anything you should pay for when starting out. But from the success stories I can tell sniper sites are a good way to go. But I suggest build lots of them. Cause at the beginning there is a "google dance" instead of waiting your site to rank and hope for the best you can build new sites in the meantime. If your first one turn's out to be a loser, there's a chance you got the other ones right.

  • Another thing: you should make notes of some of the resources I mentioned in my long post, they might become handy in the future. And if you get suck with something you can contact me. I'm not saying I can help you with everything, but there are some subjects where I might be.

    • Lydia,

As I don't have enough posts I can't reply to your PM. But they have a 2 week free trial. After that it's $47 or $97 a month. They have two options. They are rather expensive, especially when you are starting out, but I'm sure you can get a great value just from their free trial.

      Take care,

      Marten
