How many days between emails

I bought a 52 week autoresponder kit that is very well written. However is it OK to send an email out every week or should i keep them closer together like every 4 days or so?

any industry standards that work well?

    It is hard to find the correct balance, it all depends on the audience.Personally I have found that sending one email every 3-4 days is ok, I have much less unsubscribers compared to when I sent an email every 2 days.

    Yeah, I think Tom's right. I average 3-4 days between emails, but you'll get really hardcore email marketers who say pound away on a daily basis. You'll lose more subscribers, but you might well increase your income substantially, as long as your flow of new subscribers is at least keeping pace with the losses. Personally, I don't like that strategy because I think it imposes on the subscriber (unless they got on your list in the first place expecting daily emails). But there's no doubt that from a money making standpoint, it can work. I'm on a few lists that hit me daily, and while I do unsub from a higher percentage of them overall, there are a few of high value to me that I don't mind. I don't really like getting hit daily, but if the quality is there, I'll stay subbed.

    Also, I try to use the first few messages to provide more value without asking them to break out the credit card. I'll start working those in after about 10 days or so (4th email). Works for me, but I'm no expert by any stretch.

      Every 3-4 days is fairly common if the emails are going to prospects. Your opt-out rates will tell you what's best. Then you have people like Matt Furey who, about five years ago, started sending out two emails per day instead of one email per day and saw his profits increase by several million. So every list is different.

      This nails it. It is more about the VALUE of what you send than the frequency. I get daily emails from some lists that I am on where I learn something new everyday. Those are keepers... I'd take those kind of emails hourly. Then there is the obvious junk/spam that I might get once per week or even month... those get unsubscribed from pretty quickly.

      However, I do get your question. As a general rule of thumb, assuming relevant content, I think 3-4 days between emails is fine. Personally, I favor a more once per week schedule with the occasional "important" announcement thrown in to keep everyone on their toes and to create excitement.

    I think i will do 3 or 4. I have two kids and honestly what happened 7 days ago is a fog, i think i would forget about a email course after that long.

    I just set up 3 lists today. Just threw up a few crappy squeeze pages but i can tweak them later, i got laid off for a week so i am focusing on using the time productively (aside from extended modern warfare 2 matches)

    Depends on the content and the audience.
    If I'm expecting a 4 part series, for example, I want the information daily.
    If I'm expecting random tips, I'd prefer once a week.

    I'm more interested to hear from someone who has tested both methods and how it affected opt-ins, open rates, etc.

    Whichever direction you decide to go (email weekly or daily) it is valuable to include this in your welcome message:

    Welcome to the blahblah.com newsletter, {firstname},

    What can you expect?

    You'll receive 3 emails each week that give you great tips about blahblahs.

    (Adjust to reflect your frequency)

    In this way, your subscribers UNDERSTAND what's involved.

    Another point: I was on a retail list because I'd bought a product from this company a long time ago. They've been sending me 5 emails/week for two years, and I decided to unsub. At their unsub page, they gave me the option of receiving one email per week or one per month- GENIUS!!!

    I would say once a week so you don't over load your readers and make them feel like your becoming another "spam" style email!, that's just how we do things because I feel like if the information is well planned out and thought out that your sending then you can make it worth while for them to read and have them looking forward to your next message verse sending every few days and having them dread opening their email box to see multiple emails from you.

    however always test your market/prospects some times more frequent is better it just depends on your niche and how they take to your information you send.

      If those 52 messages are not selling anything I would
      set them to go once a week. That way you can even
      broadcast one or two promotional messages per week
      without being too agressiv.

      They would receive one 'nice' email teaching them
      something and 1-2 'evil' emails selling them something
      every week.

      That's how I do with my e-course type lists and they are not
      unsubscribing. You can't just feed them with free lessons
      for one whole year, you must even train them to buy from
      you.

    I think it really differs from one niche to the next... And it depends on how engaged your audience is/wants to be. Generally speaking, I think at least 4-5 days is probably the minimum downtime between messages, but on the other hand, you don't wanna wait more than 20-25 days either.

    My personal view, if you value them is that: the focus isn't about how many emails per week or how often you send them out but instead, focus on the content and building that relationship. I know this may sound like obvious stuff and sure many will have already told you that.

    The key is that you want to provide great content, great value to whoever subscribes to you. You want to make them feel like you are there to "help" them and not to "sell" to them. Ideally you want to get them into a mindset where they think they owe you for all the help, useful info, tips, that you have been constantly providing them with.

    Also you want to make your email interesting, have examples that they can relate to, talk about yourself, make them want to open your emails, give them incentives etc...

    As for the original question before I got sidetracked -- the most common I have seen is every 3-4 days , however if you are providing help, useful info, tips and advice, there is nothing wrong with daily, just make sure you brand it as a daily newsletter or bulletin instead and, if you want... make it look attractive by having a header, content on one side, and then a sidebar with a few text /image links to products that you may own or are affiliate of.

    Remember at the end to add a "PS" message inviting them to send or pass the email to their friends who may also be interested in receiving your emails.

    I think once a week is just about perfect, and ideally at the same time and day of the week so your subscribers expect it.

    I provide lots of free content and only promote something on the rare occasion I find anything worth promoting (decent products are extremely rare in the forex niche).

      Why don't you survey your list and find out what the majotity is conformtable with and just go with the average.

      Many other markers are pushing it to even two per day and I find some a bit irritating, but what's funny is I don't seem to mind about those that I like.

    I'll also chime in with my experience, it seems like once a week is good, and if you are going to go more frequent than that you better make sure you aren't doing hard sale after hard sale.

    I think daily emails are okay if that is explained from the start, for example:

    "Sign up for my 7 day dog training ecourse"

    People expect daily content from the beginning.

    I agree with the sentiments already shared. If your audience is used to an email every 1-2 days, or almost expects it... Then give it to them.

    But if it is a niche that is not "newsletter heavy" (like IM is), then tone it down, try to add LOTS of valuable content each and every time you send out, and keep the "selling" to as much of a minimum as possible.

    Let your content, and knowledgeable persona sell for you.
