A Mentor is someone who guides you on a particular course.

A Mentor can have a tremendous impact on the life of anyone who follows his/her instructions. He/She can affect anybody who is willing in the following ways;

A Mentor has passed through that road before and so can show you the way. If you are going on a journey, you will find it easier to get to your destination if you know the route. A Mentor already knows the route and so you will find it easier if you follow his/her directions.

A Mentor saves time, money and energy. becoming successful in any endeavour will require you to spend time and money and also expend energy to achieve success. Imagine the time you will spend in research, how about the money you will spend to do a lot of things that may eventually yield no positive result, not to talk of the energy you will expend in getting to your destination because you will probably make failed attempts at getting there before finding out that you took the wrong route. A Mentor can guide you to be successful such that all that time, money and energy will be saved. This is not to encourage laziness on your part, but you have someone to guide you so that you don't waste resources.

A Mentor helps you get to your destination faster. Imagine one person does not know about a particular business, but has someone to guide him/her and another person is in the same shoe, but on the other hand, has nobody to guide him/her. who, between them, do you think will achieve success faster? I believe it is the one with a guide. A Mentor will help you save time and so you can become successful faster.

A Mentor gives you confidence. If you are investing in a business, you might become uncomfortable if you take notice of the risks involved in the business. Your confidence level might drop and you may eventually lose your interest in the investment and subsequently, the money you would have made from the investment. However, with the assurance from your Mentor, your confidence level can increase. There are some people that give a 30-day, 45-day, 90-day or any specified-day money-back guarantee, in which case, if you are not successful with their product, they give you back your money. This kind of guarantee gives you confidence to invest and go to sleep so to speak. If you meet one that has been successful in business before and he offers to be your Mentor, you will be confident because you are being guided by someone who has been successful in the business, especially if he/she offers such guarantee.

As Internet Business Marketers, we need Mentors who will be our guide and impact our lives in the above-mentioned ways. We can also develop ourselves and become Mentors to other people as well.

We have people here in Nigeria who have risen to the point of becoming Mentors and have actually become Mentors when it comes to Internet Business Marketing. Some of them, if not all, most probably, had or still have foreigners as Mentors.

As an Internet Business Marketer, who is your Mentor and how has he/she affected your life and Internet Business Marketing?

Honestly it still depends on the person..
Although having a mentor is a big advantage
    it doesn't necessarily guarantee success..

It still depends on the drive of the individual and
on how sharp and witty that person is..

    All the best,

I'm still searching for the right person that will carry me along or hold me by my hands as I journey through this internet marketing route.

I have discovered that the IM path is a very rough one full of thorns and bristles. So, I need a pathfinder - who can show me the way to IM success in spite of failures.

Actually there are people who are experienced in Internet Marketing. However, one of the challenges you might face is their availability. You can get your hands on their materials and study and practise what you learn from the materials as an aletrnative. One of such people is Ewen Chia.

I used to dream of having a mentor, but of course it is really hard to find a good one, unless you happen to be friends (in real life!) with someone who is great at IM.

I now accept that I need to mentor myself, learn as much as I can. I am now getting to a point where I have some discernment, I can tell the bullsheet from the stuff that might work. I used to think every technique was bullsheet but I had to take a risk and try something out.

The first IM course I paid for was SBI, however I outgrew that very quickly and got a refund but SBI course is good, and you can view it for free but they keep reffering to their own paid product in the course.

So my mentor is myself and what I find on the internet, both useful posts in here and sometimes courses I purchase. I also chat to a couple of people also into IM who I have come into contact via forums too, although they are not mentoring me they help me bounce off ideas.

YOu can find the right path yourself through reading and implementing what you think would be effective for you.

Though having a mentor is really helpful, it will still depend on you because your mentor won't make you succeed, it's all up to YOU...

I once paid for a mentor and learned very very little. And asked for my money back and didn't get it.

So, I have kind of turned my back on mentors a bit since then.

I have had great advice on this forum, particularly The War Room which is fantastic, worth a hundred times the cost.

My advice is, do not choose a guru to be your mentor, and always pay with a credit card so you don't get burned.

        Best wishes,

        Ruth

I think the easiest and best way to find a mentor is through a forum
A person's profile on a forum can show you how credible and reliable he/she is

I just found myself a business mentor (not from a forum), his name was mentioned in an article and I did some research on him and luckily he has a personal website with his contact details so I emailed him and he replied to me the next day and said he was happy to assist...voila! My first attempt and it went so well I couldn't even believe it myself
But now I can see how important having a business mentor is

Well, I don't have a mentor anymore because I have learned the basics a long time ago. My mentors have become my business partners now and that's what I wish on to everyone else as well, because it really is the best kind of relationship in business world

I was fortunate enough to mentor under an experienced copywriter/marketer for 6 months 5 years ago...it literally changed my life. The best part is i didn't have to pay anything....we were already friends and sorta took me under his wing.

BTW, I met him on a forum (not this one) but yes, forums are excellent ways to connect with people and find possible future mentors.

I have to agree with Peter above. I think the warrior forum has been my mentor in this business. But I do follow Willie Crawford advice as well
The War Room is a great investment To get specific knowledge that only a mentor would share.
