Your in the right place, that is for sure. You should probably sign up with blogger.com or wordpress.com, these are free blogging companies. You can create a blog and post reviews about the products you are promoting and add the affiliate link in with them. Writing articles to ezine is definatly a good way to get traffic to the blog, you can also submit to other article directories.

Yes it sounds like you are on the right track. You can submit the articles to ezinearticles, and then rewrite them and submit them other places. Post them to a blogger blog, wordpress, squidoo, and so forth as CDawson.

You can then do things to promote THOSE things. Social bookmark your articles and blogs to build a pyramid of links leading to your offer. It takes time but does work

Create a landing page.

Use either :

Blogger, Wordpress, Your own website, or Squidoo or Weebley.

Then write articles to promote these, do about 4 articles a day, then make about 2 videos per day.

Make a home page such as widgetsarebloodyfantastic.com

Get something like wordpress, which is free by the way.

Write a few articles based on your fantastic widgets or chosen field of expertise promoting them and then liberally place adverts and affliate links here and there either in your text or in some banners around it.

Now, go to ezine, hubpages, articlesbase or any other kind of place where people read all manner of stuff and write another article just for there...this is designed for people to read one of your articles and maybe follow through to your homepage to read the rest. What you then do is place YOUR website address in the sources box so that people know where to find your other material.

If you write 1 in 5/10 of your articles purely to submit to websites that drive traffic and then rewrite them on your site a while later that is good.

What this will do is get people from those sites who are interested in widgets to find your blog/page/mess of a website and give you some directed readers over time. It may only be 5-10 new readers a month, but if your widgets are strong they will tell more people and it will build over the years.

Only hard part is finding a niche topic where you are king and god with little competition so you can effectively dominate your field.

Another good way is also to write to other people in your chosen field who may have blogs and link to them, they in time will link back to you and send you traffic. Far from being detrimental to your success it will help in time simply because you cannot all write about the same thing and a newbie in this way gets some much needed traffic who will need a small boost. This is usually called a blogroll and can be found at the side of most blogs.

(Just keep away from the topic of making money legally in computer games and we will not have a problem lol)

Good for you that you want to take some action!

Fist of all make sure there is a market or you product... (use Google external tools to analyze the market, the monthly search volume for this product, the competition)

I will recommend you to build your own website (A word press base website) but if you want to start free build a simple blog with WP or Blogger. What ever your choice, make sure you optimize your website or your blog for the keyword related to the product you are promoting...

Write articles related to you offer and submit them to EZ articles... that will bring you traffic and back links to help you rank high in Google.
