What is the WORST converting Button for sales?

Hey everyone,

....i actually began a thread asking about which sales 'button' fellow warriors here preferred the most.....it was awesome to see that one gentleman posted about the "Belcher Button", which actually converted over $200,000 for my friend last year, with his product......

My question now is, what is the WORST converting button for sales, in your experience? One reason I ask is because I'll be launching my product soon, and I give potential customers the opportunity to purchase at different levels (silver, gold, platinum).....

I'd love to be able to do things to drive people to the gold and platinum packages, in particular......I was thinking about using the "Belcher Button" for the Elite package, and then use a more subdued button for the lower packages.....

Do you think customers would get the feeling that they are being "tricked"?

My five cents on this - the Belcher button is nothing more than a viral marketing trick that works for Perry Belcher. Just have a button that's large enough with some credit card logos below it and the job is done.

I would guess something in a bilious green with yellow and orange flecks that says "Waste Your Money" would convert badly, but perhaps I should test that.

I would hazard a guess that the "Belcher Button" wasn't responsible for the $200,000 conversions - more to do with your friends product and copy?

    Just my thoughts . . .

Each and every button I use has been "worst" converting at some point.

We currently have 7 different buttons(and numerous versions of each), and during split-testing, we rotate them all. At any given time, each of these buttons has turned out to convert lower than all the others...

The only way to REALLY know which button will convert best for YOU in your business, and your niches is to:

    TEST, test, TEST

Nobody else can give you an answer or figures, or conversion rates that are going to be good for you.

    Peace

This one was pretty bad in tests. Posted here for educational purposes, not to cause offense :-)

There are a couple of ways you can achieve this... One is just to have text links for the other 2 options... another is to only have 1 belcher button, but have the three choices above it with checkboxes by each and the platinum level is already checked by default -- and they have to uncheck it and then check the silver or bronze level to change it... each successive level down, have your copy talk about all the things that are being removed that they are going to MISS OUT on by going with the lower package... this works well
