"DLGuard" membership software is not what I expected and here's why...

Hello and good morning to those of you who are just getting up.
I wanted to tell some of you who might be interested, about an experience
that I recently had with the owner and maker of "DLGuard" Security Software and Download Link Protector, Sam Stevens, who owns the software has been on my A+ list since I bought the "DLGuard"software over a year ago.
Sam's Customer Support has outranked that of any other product that I've bought over the Internet.
When I first bought "DLGuard" security software and Download Link Protector, I wanted something that would give full protection to all of my download links, provide a secure membership environment and
as a novice, I needed a product that would be easy for me to understand and use.
Above all that, I had to have good, reliable customer support.
Sam Stevens has provided everything mentioned above and then some.
He even helped me out by making me a piece of software that I needed to have made for another project.

"DLGuard" Security Software and Download Link Protector, along with the complete customer support that is provided by Sam Stevens himself is just plain fantastic,
and that's all I have to say...

      In 5 years of marketing online, I have yet to meet anybody who provides
      the kind of support Sam does. I sometimes wonder if the man sleeps.

      DLGuard was absolutely the BEST investment I ever made in my Internet
      marketing life.

      Nothing else even comes close.

        I rarely do the "me too" fanboy thing. I make an exception in Sam's case.

        The only problems I've ever had with the software were my own mistakes or odd issues with a web host. Even though it had nothing to do with his code, the support was phenomenal. And the upgrades he's made to the program since I first got it have made it one of the better investments I've made in the last 10 years.

        We gripe when people screw up. It's nice to see someone get recognition for being exceptional.

          I have looked at a few options for membership site software... and I believe DLGuard is what my final choice will be. I have setup sites for other people with that software, and it seems to do exactly what I want it to do.

            DLGuard is excellent, and the support is even better, if that's possible. I had so many questions about it but Sam was always prepared to answer them even if they were dumb questions.

            Did I say DLGuard is excellent?

              I need to add my 2 cents here too!

              Sam has always answered my sometimes pretty ridiculous questions, and he even helped me get everything set up - all without any complaint. He always responds to support requests, and he never makes you feel like you have been any bother whatsoever!

              He really is a perfect example of how to run a business - I know that I will never hesitate to buy anything else he ever puts out, just because I believe he is one of the best people I have ever had the chance to deal with online.

              And yes - the DL Guard membership feature really is simple to use once you figure it out, and it does everything you could possibly need.

                Sorry - but I feel I must disagree with all the positive reviews about DLGuard.

                Adding all these new features has made upgrading a nightmare.

                I mean - the last upgrade took me 3 whole clicks instead of 2.

                  I assume you're being facetious ?

                  It doesn't take much to confuse me when it comes to figuring out such programs like Wordpress installation and DLG setups. That's why it was such an extreme pleasure to get such personal and "quick" support from Sam for his membership software. He sure knows how to make you feel welcome... like a "friend", rather than just another customer who can't figure things out.

                  BTW... does this mean I need to upgrade my software? Does that mean I have to be concerned about the membership and products I already set up? Ya got me worried now, Harvey!

                Ken,
                Sam has a really big thumbs up for me. If everyone gave the kind of customer support he does IM would be another whole ball game.
                Ya know, this makes me wonder...

                As a group, folks in this industry have an unbelievable tendency to gripe about trivia and scream "SCAM!" if they don't get what they want, when they want it, perfect and as close to free as possible.

                If we, as a group, were as quick to tell folks when someone creates a great product or goes the extra mile, would more people make the effort?

                Worth thinking about...

          Paul, I agree 110%.

          I remember a few years ago when I first installed DLG on my site and it
          ran flawlessly for about two days before weird things began to happen.

          I contacted Sam and he requested access to my site. After he received
          access it took him about 30 minutes to locate the source of the problem
          and another 10 minutes to fix it.

          It seems that my hosting company had upgraded the MySQL data base
          version and also a few other items on my host.

          Sam made the required corrections. I was back up an running and have
          been every since with out a hitch.

          Sam didn't have to jump in and spend 40 minutes doing that but he did.

          That is the main reason I still use the program plus the fact that Sam also
          keeps the script up to date by adding new features and options.

    I totally agree.

    Sam since you will no doubt check this post - how about having an expiry date on the coupons?

    And yes - You don't say anywhere in your post why the "membership" software is not what I expected.

    Okay, it's my turn to add to this thread... I have been involved with the computer industry for over 28 years. I can honestly say that Sam is a perfect example of everything a business owner should be. There is not an active company in the world that begins to provide the high degree of customer service and satisfaction (proportionately speaking) which Sam does for his customer base. Sam is a role model for all Internet Marketers.

          I like Sam too, not least for DLGuard, but also 'cus he's an Aussie and Aussies rock.

          I don't do the fanboy thing very often either, but I'd have to throw it back at Paul Myers because his newsletter, forum posts and products are an example of 'how to do it properly' as well as an education in themselves. Right, enough of that. Back to being grumpy, critical and argumentative again.

    Paul Myers is right on the point when he mentions we don't praise top notch service and products enough. We only ever moan.

    On average an unhappy customer tells around 11 other people. That's was an offline stat. Online it must be more.

    And on average a happy customer tells only around 2 others. Again that's offline.

    That's an unfortunate and selfish side of human nature.

    My honest views about DLguard are all over this forum based on my 2-week experience of dealing with Sam.

    But this post give me great pleasure to agree with you all ... Sam is a model business man ... and also has a really wise and experienced head on his shoulders for such a young guy.

    Well done Sam and may you succeed even bigger than you're doing already.

    I've had DL Guard for a while now and it's the best dam software I've purchased. The only thing better than the software is Sam's support...

    I had a few problems in the beginning and Sam sorted me out... It was
    all my fault but this dude was still apologetic.

    And not only would people possibly go the extra mile more often, but one thing is for sure: we'd all enjoy ourselves a lot more!

    We all work really hard on our businesses - we might as well enjoy them. And a great way to enjoy yourself is to help others enjoy themselves.

    When you may other people happy, you'll suddenly realize how much better you feel, too.

    It's amazing how well it rubs off!

    Heh, no Harvey is just kidding. He likes to minimize the number of times he has to click his mouse button per day

    No need to upgrade your software (unless you want to - everyone gets free upgrades for a year).


    Where is Sam?

    Maybe Sam should consider coaching all the other programmers to offer a great service like he does

    I was helping someone set up the first version of Fantasos...(JV Manager), it was a nightmare.

    He ended up getting DLGuard instead and has never looked back!

      Sam's customer service is fantastic. The last time I had a problem, I mentioned that my shoulders where stiff and Sam hopped on an 8 hour flight up here to give me a hot oil massage. Ooops, I may have said too much.

    I have the highest regard for Sam and DLGuard.

    MY problems were always quickly and courteously solved. I EMPHASIZE the MY because it was him helping me with things I didn't get, even though they were in front of my face. I never had a problem with the software.

    I found several problems with DLGuard during my installation, contact Sam and he instantly added it to his to do list. I agree that the support is superb.

    Keep up the good work Sam.

    Regarding upgrade, sure... every software needs to be upgraded. WordPress soon to be 2.7, web server for security reason, etc. And if that also involves additional features, I'll use 5 minutes in the weekend to do that. Can't complain, at all.

    I think this is a swell thread, and Sam deserves every bit of praise he gets, and then some!

    I know he's helped me a few times, and goesw the extra mile always.

    So Sam,

    When the heck do you sleep??

    I know for fact you are on the Internet at various times of the day, and you always find time to answer every PM and email in a timely fashion.


    Paul is right, if more people started taking your example to the next level, we'd have a bunch of happy campers!

      For myself I can't imagine what it would be like to set up a script without Sam helping, especially with paypal involved. I've haven't seen anyone provide "after the sale" service like he does.

    Unfortunately, I can not back up the "fantastic customer support" claims.

    That's probably because it runs flawlessly and I've never had a need for support.

    Making something that works correctly right out of the box. Now, that's my kind of "fantastic customer support"!

      I am using DLG, as is, with my affiliate program. I have a separate affiliate software and it is working fine with DLG.

    I already have a system in place that is working well for memberships and secure product delivery, but there are a couple of things that I desire from this system that I can not do, (such a offer coupons, work with more payment gateways, track conversion rates, OTO's etc).... plus I am paying a monthly fee for the solution I am using.

    Because DLGuard is praised by everyone who uses it, and the support is top notch, I would like to make the switch to DLGuard, but the system I am using right now has affiliate tracking built in. In fact, I am doing some pretty exciting stuff with that this week.

    I don't like the idea of switching to dlguard and then patching a 3rd party affiliate program on top of it, knowing full well that the PRO version is going to have a very advanced affiliate program built into it, along with additional "advanced features".

    I know that Sam intends to keep the standard DLGaurd program alive, but the most advanced features will be in the PRO version of it.

    So there is no reason for me to switch to DLGuard until the PRO comes out, that way I can get it all in one nice tidy package.

    It's the only time I ever intend to switch, because I do NOT want to ever move my affiliates again. In fact, I am going to try my hardest to make sure that all the old links continue to work so everyone is credited for their hard work.

    I'm an affiliate marketer too, and I know how frustrating it can be.
