How to track upsell conversions

Hi, i know this will seem like a straight up noob questions, but ive been buying and soaking in some internet marketing products lately and have a question. In many programs they stress the importance of tracking conversions of upsells and downsells and such. What program is used to do this. Google analytics? I appreciate you humble responses. Thanks

    Too big a question for a simple answer.

    The pure essence of the answer is: You need to be able to track the source of every sale you make.

    A lot of how you do that depends upon the shopping cart and sales scripts you are using, whether or not you use link tracking and a lot more.

    Hi Indi,

    This is an awesome question that I believe
    everyone here on the forum should know.

    The best way to do it is to stick google
    analytics on all your pages and set-up
    goals to track.

    The manual way is to find out how many
    unique visitors landed on your upsell
    page and how many people purchased.

    Remember you need those 2 figures.

    1. Unique Visitors to that page
    2. How many sales

    Then you can put those 2 figures into this
    handy online tool/
    Conversion Rate Calculator

    This method can be used to calculate any
    sales method.

    1. Upsell
    2. Cross Sell
    3. Downsell

    All you need is the unique visitors and
    the number of sales over the same time
    period (I recommend doing it every month)

    Hi Indi,

    It seems I have exactly what you are looking for. The platform I use tests every variation you can possibly think of and you can have multiple pipelines going at once. It also tells me exactly where in my pipeline I am making money and where I am losing it.

    There is like a quicken books on the end of the funnel which gives me my ROI in real time. So instead of getting my information weeks later, I can have it by the end of the day! Very powerful information to have if you are to make big bucks online.
