i love the putting together of marketing messages and the copywriting/testing side of this biz...

but i get really bogged down and frustrated with all of the technical sides of this biz (web developing, graphics, video, backlinks, and general technical things) and it takes me forever to do this stuff

i would love to be at a point where i can outsource all of this time consuming stuff, and just focus on marketing messages

for the people who outsource these things,
does this outsourcing work for u? does it affect profits to much?

thoughts??

you bring up a great point - I've felt the same way but I've never talked about my feelings to anyone...(seriously!).

After being in IM for a few years I am finally starting to make money - so here are my thoughts:

Learning how to become successful online means you really have to know your stuff - you have to know every facet of the business. This is not to say that you have to do everything all the time, but most people I know who are successful do know how to do most of what they need. They farm stuff out, but in the beginning they rolled up their sleeves and did it themselves. It's hard work, and it seems like the learning curve always gets steeper.

Just like with a regular brick and mortor business (which I've been very successful at), you need to know every inch of your business, so when you do farm stuff out, you are still in control and you know it's being done correctly.

I now farm out my articles, but I first learned how to write them so I guide and manage what my article writers are producing. The same is true with my websites - I started off learning how to create them so now I can direct how my web guy designs and optimizes them.

Sorry I rambled, but I feel your pain...

yeah it just feels like i waste so much time playing around with all these technical things, a person who likes doing that stuff can do it in half the time i can... and enjoy themselves...

i feel like i should be directing all my focus and energy towards marketing aspects of the biz...

what is the best way to start this outsource process?

I look at it this way. My function is to be the visionary and chief marketer of my company.

But I learned the hard way.

Several years ago when I started my business I had to do everything.

Now that I have employees that handle the day to day operation. (Shipping, payroll, managing, etc.)

I set my mode from surviving to expanding. The local people were fine for everyday tasks but did not have the necessary skills to do IM and other things. (I live outside the USA now)

So I found that I can outsource the work to others, that have those skills and talents.

I am not a web designer, database programmer, or data entry person. I know what I can do well and I know what I can't do.

If I am doing data entry I am loosing money.

        Outsourcing makes me money.

Perhaps offer them a partnership? They do the web design and you do the marketing.

Or have a yard sale, list items that you no longer need on eBay, books on Amazon, etc.

Remember, at first I had to do everything.

            I had to make sacrifices.

There is always a way. I can set up a domain, hosting and a website with cloaked CB links for about $250. That is having someone else do all the work.

I bet you could do it cheaper.

I agree with the technical overload. We thought our business was start up faster. We finally starting outsourcing things like articles, we are not writers. Make sure you sign up with someone who will provide you with video and web training. Make should you follow the steps and not jump ahead. We are now on our way. We wish you the best of luck.
