Which domain is better?

Looking at a clickbank niche product and have two domains in mind. Exact product specific.
Domain1 is Very long (22 char), but google exact match is 14,800
Domain2 is shorter (15 char), but google exact match is 4,400

Creating a lander/squeeze page for the product, which domain is better? The longer with higher exact searched or stick to the shorter version?

Shorter I would say, the more letters you have the more mistakes can be made...or simply get both and make a redirect.

The keyword phrase with triple the exact searches is the better of the 2 in my opinion, but this is because you should be able to get the #1 position with some decent SEO and then just due to having 3 times more searches you should get more traffic. But since domains only cost $9 just get both.

Most of the initial traffic you are going to get is going to come from a search engine, a link in an article, a backlink and the traffic that you get from someone actually typing in your domain will not be more than the traffic that comes from the other sources.

Go for the 14,800 exact match and dominate that. After building enough links to get a decent pagerank, you can easily dominate the smaller exact match easier with a few anchor text links to that smaller searched phrase.

I guess the best domain name is short and generic, it is not important how long is your domain unless it can't generate traffic.

22 characters is too long. Go for the shorter domain.

Shorter domains are great for branding purposes, but if this is just a site to promote an affiliate product I'd go for the longer name with the most searches. It's not like a ton of people are going to be typing the domain name into their browser or you're going to be passing it on to a lot of people verbally -- as Joel pointed out, most of the traffic will come from clicking links.

I would say go with the 22 character. It's only 7 characters more and it's better.

Thanks for all the feedback. Typically the shorter the better, but since I have not looked at doing a clickbank site before I thought was the more exact the better regardless of length. Obviously no typein traffic, so would rely all on se traffic.

I would buy both. Come on, its only $7. Beside, 14k competition is easy to dominate if your competitor were not really optimizing on the keywords.

Ideally get both. However I agree with getting the exact match. Most of the traffic will probably come for search engines since it's a review site so it doesn't really matter how long the domain is.

More to consider. I usually buy most possible keyword.com domain to avoid competitor using em. Based on my experience Keyword in domain does give more credibility(to search engine) for SERPs.

Both domains are long.. If you could find a 10 character domain name, that would be great. But on the other hand, it's quite good to SEO a long tail keyword for domain names since you are targeting a certain niche :-)

I had great luck with an exact match for a clickbank product. That's my pick

If it were me, I will use both! It won't cost much more. Another thing, Gurus keep teaching us to test. So test and chalk the extra expense to business cost!
