Launch Fiasco - Almost!

I'm just putting the finishing touches to the special early bird launch page for my subscribers. We'd been having some technical trouble and the programmer was away (typical!), so I had to clumsily sort it out an hour or so before the notification email was to be sent out at the very well advertised launch date.

BOOM
A tree falls down, takes out the power line, and the internet!
It takes a couple of hours to come online, during which time I'm just imaging the email going out to my complete list, and them arriving at an incomplete page!

Power came back on about an hour after kickoff, and I found the page wasn't too severely damaged (although there was one major issue - the very important 'proof' video had disappeared)!

After fixing that up, the programmer comes online finally at 4 am, to tell me to stop making changes to the page because traffic is huge and we're making a sale every 5 minutes.

Go figure.

I wrote an email I called 'recovery email' which will be sent to subscribers telling the thrilling tale of the tree, and hopefully sending a few more people to the sales page.

My goal for the internal only launch was 100 sales in the first 24 hours (my list is small - I'm still quite new to this).

That would make it my first $2000.00 day ($27.00 product, but yeah, I know, we're obsessed with milestones!)

I'll keep you posted!
Cheers
Nathan

    Nathan,
People love to see the REAL (imperfect) part of others. This will appeal greatly to your list and is a great idea (just be truthful as people can always sniff out a made up story).

        Hey
You're right about utilizing the experience as a story, I have a chilling but truthful recount written and cued to be sent one hour from now, naturally linking back to the sale.

We broke the $2000.00 (gross) mark 9.5 hours after launch.
It's not all profit for me, but it's a personal best.

        Cheers

Congratulations on breaking the $2000 mark within 24 hrs! I'm sorry, but I had to laugh at your recount. Seems things always fall apart at the worst possible time. Glad it turned out well and profitable for you!
