Beginner needs assistance with traffic

Hi all,
I'm a relative newcomer to WF and IM, i have spend the last 6 weeks absorbing a mountain of information, learning and i have to say enjoying the world of online business.
I have now taken the step to get involved in the Simple Freedom program as a starting point to begin my online business. I chose this as it's a simple starting point and something i found i could use to generate some cashflow, but more importantly, build a list and continue to learn. I have loads of ideas for other projects of my own creation, but i want to leave these in the pot until i fully understand what i am doing.
So - my dilemma is this - i have a product, i have a very optimistic attitude, i am not afraid of hard work and my mindset is in the right place. But i have no idea how to really generate some good traffic. I've written a few articles, got my blogs up and running along with my social media sites and my auto responders are ready to roll. But what now?
I set up a PPC campaign on adwords, but it has attracted nobody and i am sure it's badly set up. I keep hearing about finding hot and non competitive keywords, but despite working my way through market Samurai, it's clear i don't actually know what i am doing.
I know there is no simple answer, but what suggestions does anyone have as to how to get the ball rolling? I do have a marketing budget although it's low until i start generating some sales. Is PPC even the right way to go?

I honestly think that PPC is one promotional method that needs to be studied before practicing it. In my opinion, buying a good PPC guide is always cheaper than going to Adwords blind and start spending money without knowing what you are doing.

Forum Posts, Blog Comments, Social Bookmarking, Article Submissions, Video Marketing, Twitter, Free Classified Sites (craigslist), submit an e-book to the many e-book directories etc.
There are plenty of different methods you can use to generate traffic. PPC is a pretty fast way to get traffic but can also be quite costly!
With PPC you must keep your CTR high to benefit from cheap clicks (If you're getting lots of clicks and maintaining a good CTR, google will reward you and automatically decrease your CPC). Either that or find keywords that generate lots of traffic that no one else has found yet.

This site right here seems to be a good choice to get some traffic. New here, but active on other sites and this will bring in traffic to be measured in Google Analytics, and your page rank will improve because traffic is coming from reputable, high ranking sites like this one.
