HELP: Need Help In Fixing Feedburner Feed For Self-Hosted Wordpress Sites

I can't get my Feedburner feed to work for my newer self-hosted Wordpress sites. I'm trying to set up a Feedburner feed for a new site and all I get is a 404 error for a link that looks similar to this (I removed a / so it wouldn't be a live link): http:/feeds.feedburner.com/NameOfMyWebsitefeed

It used to be super easy to set up a Feedburner feed using the Feedburner plugin until about the time that Google bought Feedburner.

Can anyone please tell me how to fix this or direct me to some instructions for how I can make this work?

Thanks
Steve

No thats a fake link I put there that has nothing to do with my site. I forgot that the Warrior turns a link into keywords. Let me fix that...

Have you actually gone into your Feedburner account and set up the feed or just using a plugin?

Double check the link given to you at Feedburner, sometimes there is an additional part of the url like feedburner.com/nameofsite/fgftr

Yes this is what I have done in the order I did it (I removed one forward slash from each link so it wouldn't turn into a link)...

      1) I clicked the link in Wordpress (from the Feedburner feed plugin settings page) that goes to my Google Account page. It used to go directly to my Feedburner page and I don't know why it doesn't do that anymore (I guess its a Google thing).

      2) Then I clicked on the Feedburner link (the little flame icon) on my Google Accounts main page link that goes to my main Feedburner page that shows all my feeds: http:/feedburner.google.com/fb/a/myfeeds?gsessionid

      3) At the bottom of my main Feedburner page there is a box that says "Burn a feed right this instant." where I pasted in my Feedburner feed link http:/feeds.feedburner.com/TheNameOfMyWebsite that I copied from my WP Feedburner feed plugin setting page (from step #1). Then I clicked the "Next" button.

      4) Now I'm taken to a Feedburner page ( http:/feedburner.google.com/fb/a/addfeed ) that says:

An error occurred connecting to the URL: Error getting URL: 404 - Not Found Identify Feed Source

Back to My Feeds The feed URL you entered is:
      http:/feeds.feedburner.com/TheNameOfMyWebsite

We could not find a valid feed at that address. Here are some possible reasons this might have happened:
      • Is the feed valid? Confirm its validity now.
The feed your site already creates needs to be "valid enough" to work with FeedBurner. This post from the FeedBurner Help Center explains why technical validity matters.
      • Are you using the URL of the web page or the URL of the feed?
FeedBurner is usually able to "auto-discover" your feed from a web page, but in this case we didn't find any related feeds. You may want to enter the URL of the feed directly.
      • Is the URL is misspelled or a copy+paste action didn't work?
If that's the case, please try again.
      5) Then I click on the "Confirm its validity now" link and I go to this page: http:/feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3a%2f%2ffeeds.feedburner.com%2f TheNameOfMyWebsite and it says:

      FEED Validator

for Atom and RSS and KML
      Jump to navigation

      • Server returned HTTP Error 404: Feed not found error: FeedBurner cannot locate this feed URI. [help]

      Sorry

An error occurred while trying to validate this feed.
      Possible causes:
      1. The address may be incorrect. Make sure the address is spelled correctly. Try loading the feed directly in your browser to make sure a feed exists at that address.
      2. The feed may be temporarily unavailable. The server may be down, or too slow. Try again later.
      3. The validator may be busted. If the feed exists, the server is fine, and the problem is reproducible, let us know on the feedvalidator-users mailing list.

So thats it. I've looked at the 'Help' pages and still don't know what I'm doing wrong. Its very frustrating because it used to be so easy before Google bought them.

When you are burning a feed at Feedburner, you need to enter YOUR original feed (yourdomainname.com/feed) not a feed burner feed, as that has not been created yet.

Once you enter your domains RSS feed into feedburner, it will spit out the correct new feed (feeds.feedburner.com/TheNameOfMyWebsite). Once you get that new feed, enter that into your plugin.

          Hey Greg!

Yup, that worked! You have no idea how much this has helped me...THANK YOU! Don't know why I started doing it the wrong way at some point but at least (thanks to you) I can start doing it the right way again.

          Thanks again!
