Do any of you IMers hold local offline seminars?

You always see "make $__ in __ days easily with my method" types of guides/wso's etc. Is anyone actually having seminars locally? I have so many guides and PLR's on my hard drive. I'm doing my research right now... but I have to think there is a big market for this. People are getting laid off from their 9-5's everyday... which equals a potential customer. Thoughts?

I don't think targeting people who don't have a job and don't have any income is a long term business success model.

I have to agree with you there. Why not target companies that are on the second and third pages of Google for their keyword? You can hold a seminar and if promoted properly can lead to good business.

        Dude, quit that Poverty thinking.

Don't be afraid. Go after companies with Big Cash Registers.

Business people need US more than EVAR! Live seminars make me BIG money.

I LUV live seminars, face to face. The prospects get to see you live, your personality, your enthusiasm, are you real or full of BS, PowerPoint slides, the GROUP energy that flows with these meetings, etc...

I charge $297 for a seminar. $197 for Early Bird sign-up. After the expenses are paid I donate ALL the proceeds to a Local charity.

I have a Rep from the Charity there when it starts. I thank the people in the audience for coming to the seminar and supporting the charity.

I then do a quick Photo shoot and use it for My Press Release.

I have the Check Blown UP 3' x 4' and a pic taken of me giving it to the charity. Free PR.

After the seminar I try and make a quick escape (they must always be chasing YOU). I'll hang around 10 minutes while my staff cleans up. 40 to 60% of the attendees will throw their bus card at you.

Phone calls will bomb your office for 48 hours.

Call prospect back, close, pick up Porsche (I mean check) and repeat process.

I'm doing a seminar in February, can't wait.

        Life is good.

No need to ask if anyone is doing offline seminars....it can be done and IS being done. Use your creativity to drive people to your seminars.

I hold my seminars once a month and get practically all my attendees by word of mouth. You can give a seminar on just about any topic of interest.

Main thing is to do something....take advantage of the New Year and DO SOMETHING.

Book the room, make the calls, send out invitations, talk to your friends and who you know that have businesses...get out there. Don't wait to read about how to do it. I learned how to produce seminars as I did it.

      Happy New Year....

I've done a few, chances are there may be local business / conference centres looking for speakers or people to present seminars. If you are scared of holding one yourself, find out where you can deliver value to an event that is in the process of being planned, or happening soon.

Couple of things I've done recently...

    1. Sat on the panel at an event, whereby a load of local school kids were asked to carry out a task. My job was to simply give them some inspiration and tell them about my story, how they can replicate or at least attempt what I achieved - I was the same as as these guys just 5 years ago - so its something I feel really strongly about. As mentioned already, this isn't something you'll get paid for - but it allows you to open doors, meet people and get some great publicity photo shots.

(There is a video about this event, You'll hear me sat a bit at 00:40: )

    2. Another event I recently presented at was a paid one, where I taught a small select group of local business owners some marketing tactics about using online video right here at our offices - which they could go away and use immediately in their business. This stuff was relatively straight forward - but the group discussion and feedback we got at the end was absolutely fantastic. You can see this at Marketing With Online Video - Oct 2009 (unfortunately the quality of this recording is pretty bad)

    Its well worth doing!

Ok... maybe my post was misunderstood. Yeah, I understand the business to business model. Basically IM consulting to help businesses attract more customers/clients. Which requires me doing the work. Trust me, I am looking into that as well. However, I was referring to holding seminars to teach individuals how to do what we do. Just like a commission blueprint course or whatever in person. Basically doing a "Let me show you how I make $10k a month step by step without a 9-5" sort of presentation. Have a workbook for them to follow, powerpoint presentation, etc.

I agree with Brad G. on not making any income claims. If you just put the word out that you teach what people want to know you will get good response on that.

For me teaching business people how to put up a business blog is valuable in my local market. I am running with that topic for now and I am getting anywhere from 8 to 20 people per seminar once a month.

          Hope that helps.

Here is a photo from a seminar I ran last month. I will be doing them bimonthly this year.

I don't sell it on income claims as much as I do the course content. Also we prefer to call it a workshop instead of a seminar, as my teaching is hands-on and my students are allowed to bring laptops.

I don't know about for individulas- as the ones who would be interested may not have the money to pay me etc.

I hold free workshops for offline business owners. This is an awesome lead generator for my consulting business. I can charge a lumpy upfront fee for a few thousand dollars to establish their project and then a monthly fee to maintain it- this continuity is important to me, so business owners are a better target for me..

My workshop goes for around 2 hours and covers off on what internet marketing is all about and what it can do for their business. I have a pretty awesome conversion rate from them and 1 workshop of around 20 keeps me in business for months.

i definitely recommend giving it a go. You can check out the video I use to presell these workshops at prospectsandprofits.com.au

    i hope this helps,
