Wordpress Image Plugin - NEED URGENTLY!

8 replies
Hello everyone.

My girlfriend has a fashion site and likes to lay out the images on each article from left to right then right to left.

However as you can see below the articles are messing up the images.

I was wondering if there was a plugin to organise images since WP likes to mess up all the images, its VERY annoying...

messed up article > The Latest Brogue Shoes On Offer Too!

Thanks in advance

    Willyboy -

    Pure HTML people will scold me for saying this but....

    You could use a table to layout the images

    <table>
    <tr>
    <td> ... image </td>
    <td> ... price </td>
    </tr>

    <tr>
    <td> ... image </td>
    <td> ... price </td>
    </tr>

    ...etc

    </table>

      :confused:

      You did select the HTML view first, didn't you?

      Well like Istvan said, if you are not familiar with HTML then maybe best to leave it alone. Web-based visual editors like Wordpress unfortunately only go so far.

      You could offer someone on this forum $20 (...not me thanks!) to sort this out for you (one they have you can see how they did it an repeat).

      Or learn HTML from the ground up. I think it is a worthwhile thing to do in this game.

    It is not a question of using a "magic" plugin.

    It is a matter of not messing around with things she doesn't understand
    Your/her theme has alignright and alignleft classes for the images. Images that use those classes are floated left or right, respectively.

    Whenever an element (image, div, etc.) is floated in one direction - everything that follows it in the code will want to squeeze up next to it, unless the float is cleared. Which isn't in your code.

    I can't really recommend anything else what was suggested above:
    - do NOT use the visual editor and learn how to put your items in table cells or properly styled divs.

    I notice that the images she's using have a lot of blank white space above and below the shoe -crop the image to get rid of those white spaces and it certainly wont hurt

    I've been working with the NextGEN Gallery plugin. However I would like to find something better like the one Auctiva uses for ebay listings that scrolls left to right

    My honest input would be that if it is too hard getting it working, simply don't bother. Go with a clear grid-view.

    I understand that she might want the site to look cool and unique, but at a first glance to her blog, there are many other things she could start from... the overall layout/design for instance.

    I remember having spent countless hours trying to make some base WP themes perfect for my needs (and I consider myself self-trained well in graphics and WP theming). I am using NONE of those custom WP themes now and I wish I had spent all that time building some content and backlinks so I could now pay someone to do it for me.
