Hi.

I have been writing articles for my first project on blogger blogspot.

Just looking at some random, possibly a competitor website, I have noticed what appeared to be my article. But on closer inspection realised it was different but still covering the same subject.

Its good to submit articles to article directories, what steps should be taken to ensure someone else does not blatantly copy the article word for word?

Cheers.

Jim.

Word-for-word copying is actionable. Ideas cannot be copyrighted, but the expression of the ideas can.

If you've discovered that your content is being used without your permission, notify the web master. He/she may have your content on the site by mistake. If you don't get a response from the webmaster, contact their host with a DMCA complain. Most hosting companies in the US will investigate and contact the webmaster regarding the issue. Usually if the webmaster does not remove the stolen material, the host can take down the site.

One question though is, can it be a good thing someone else other then an article directory, just taking the article since it might generate more traffic to my site.

Actually, if you submit your articles to article directories, anyone can take it from there and publish it "word for word" - providing they keep your toolbox at the bottom of the article.

true... if they take the article, redistribute it with your link intact.. that is a good thing.. you get more backlinks and more traffic..

If you see your article word for word and no link back I would send of email. Ask the website owner to add a link back to your website or the original article.

I say...SO WHAT! Why bother yourself with it really! For all of the time you will spend arguing back and forth and the time you have already spent SEARCHING around..STOP IT! you wrote the article first and if it got indexed by SE's then why worry!
Keep on truckin'.After being in this business for a while now I have had many articles swiped and pasted. Some with...some without my resource box in tact. What matters most here is the traffic you are generating as that is the only thing that you can control..Stay focused and learn to increase the CTR of each article and this kind of thing will not bother you as you drive yourself to the bank.LOL
