How Working on Conversions Can More than Double Income Very Fast
I wanted to share my experience in how switching from a traffic focus to a conversion focus has increased my revenue.
Before December, I tended to spend more time working on increasing traffic to my sites. This is not because it was more beneficial but because for me, it is easier and more fun.
However, I came to realize that working on conversion could make a 10 fold difference in my revenue.
For example, I have a site that converts 1 per 100 visitors. In order for me to get another sale, I need to work on getting another 100 visitors to the site. And based on my traffic methods, in order for me to do something that will bring in 100 more visitors consistently for this market, this take time and effort.
So I started ask - what about the 99 targeted visitors who already come to my site and do not buy?
Because I have a decent amount of traffic coming, I can test small changes and if I can just get 1 more person out of the 99 to buy, I double my income.
In summary, I can work on getting 100 more people to the site to make one more sale. Or I can work on a conversion tweak to increase get one more person out of every 100 already visiting to buy.
If I accomplish this, I not only get one more sale but 1 more sale per 100 visitors. So if my monthly unique visitors number averages 5,000, that is 50 more sales- lots more money.
Then, when I go back to traffic, traffic efforts are much more effective because conversion rates will be double for any new traffic.
If your sites are generating enough traffic where you can test conversion tweaks on your site fairly quickly, I encourage you to do this. I think this may apply to many others in this business once you get traffic to a certain level- you just need to think through it.
