Question on sending a physical Medicine in postal order to US-Need help from US wARRIORS.

I was suffering from a ailment till last year and one of my relatives suggested a Ayurvedic(natural) medicine
which is readyly sold across all Medical stores in my country India.I bought the Pack and consumed regularly
for one month and my ailment was gone like magic.

I see so many people seeking for remedy for this same ailment.I am thinking that i should start a Website and get Orders
from US people and sent the Medicine by post.

My question is:
1.Is there any legal complication that prevents me from doing this?
2.Is there any market for Ayurvedic medicine in US?

Warriors pls help.

You are not allowed to bring a substance controlled and regulated by the U.S. into the U.S. As long as the stuff you aren't bringing into the U.S. isn't controlled, then you will be fine.

Even with illegal drugs, the confiscation rate is very low. Not that I am promoting the importation of illegal drugs or anything.

Pardon my comment, but the government of India is not responsible for regulating drug imports into North America. The North American governments are. You might get away with it on your own but the previous advice to seek legal counsel is the right one.

I have a business that I import products from outside NA and resell them here in the US. One in twenty or so packages get opened at customs and inspected. Its a completely legit business that I pay my customs duties on so I don't have any legal issues but anything pharma or herbal supplements is a different situation entirely...SEEK LEGAL ADVICE

I do see sites and ads promoting Ayurvedic medicines but my own opinion of them is pretty low. Doesn't make much sense to me and every respectable consumer report or study I've come across about them has pretty much said don't bother.

I'd expect demand would be a lot lower here than in India, but who knows, might be worth a try. Personally I wouldn't have expected Starbucks to make it either.

I guess if profit margins aren't that great you can always add more water, make them even more Ayurvedic. That's seen as a good thing right? (don't mind me)

But if you have an idea you like you get a lot of good experience acting on it even if it doesn't make a lot of money.

    good luck with that

For starters, if it requires a prescription here (you would have to check with a doctor), then forget it. It's illegal to import such medicines from overseas.

Secondly, I'm not sure too many people would trust stuff like that being sent from overseas. Too many ripoff in that area.

Here's the best route I can recommend if you're determined.

If this is something that can be made from readily available compounds, what you can do is team up with a medical doctor in the US (make sure you talk to a US lawyer versed in FDA law so you don't end up getting sued out of your shoes), and sell the into on how to make it yourself (or what to buy here).

    Whatever you decide, good luck.
